Kamala Harris didn't even say the term correctly, like she didn't know what the concept was referring to. She said 'price gauging" which would mean 'price measuring', when the actual term is 'price gouging' (referring to increasing prices beyond fair levels). People just choose to ignore this stuff, but it shows that Harris isn't familiar with anything she is talking about.

I have seen this before in my home country when Ferdanan Marcos was president. Price control is just eupahmism for absolute control over production, distribution, and exchange. When markets start to dry up because the government says you can not make profit over the goods you sell, and the companies say we can't operate at a net loss, they will stop production. Then, the following occurs
    - mass shortage on supply
    - hording as many will start buying up the little resources left
Black markets start to flurish, get ready for $40 loaf of bread
    - When the supply completely runs out, the government will then start making goodz (kamala said she will snatch patents away)
    Get ready for government cheese
    - then The rationing (in the Philippines, we had to stand in line just to get a small bag of rice and a bag of fish. If you are lucky, you might get 1 can of spam)
Meanwhile, the rich and elites get the best beef and chicken, the best luxury has to offer. You know what the Filipinos did to marcos? They fought a revolution to overthrow him and Exile him and his wife... you Westerners better learn from our mistake..... socialism /communism is just a facad. When you say you can't charge more than X for a product. The moment the cost of producing it rises up to the point you can't profit or even make it for that price. They will shut down production of that product... and often lay off workers, or even close the company/farm
So sure you will not have whatever for more than X... but you also will not have the product either because they can't afford to make it and pay their bills. And that applies to food production.

If their suppliers gouge their prices, they pass those increases on to YOU, and they make the same profit. The grocery store talk is a distraction. And if you recall, Trump promised to get an infrastructure bill passed (he did not). So it’s like the old Fram commercials: You can pay me now, or pay me later! In case you aren’t familiar with that commercial, the premise is that if you don’t pay for it now it’ll cost you a lot more later. This has proven to be true with infrastructure. Bridges were collapsing because maintenance/upgrades had been ignored for too many years. Sorry our problems are not solved by price fixing or controlling. It’s about having open markets that encourage small businesses to survive. Big greedy corporations are controlling our economy markets today. Corporate farmers have push the small farmers completely out. The China industrial is now controlling our meat processing and packaging industries. We can have free open markets by having employee ownership businesses in the USA. Please read about how many foreign investors control our economy now.

That's why they are enforcing the Sherman Antitrust Act to break up these monopolies.
I live in a state with price - fixing regulations and our AG went after food companies back in the 80's for price fixing. Everyone affected by them got a check in the mail from the lawsuit. No food shortages afterwards either, just free enterprise and competitive pricing.

Google "Greedflation" and you will discover that price gouging accounts for roughly 40% of the "inflation" we have today. Corporations aren't just passing along costs, they are taking advantage. That's why the stock market is CRUSHING it, but average Americans are hurting.

It’s sickening that anchors can’t differentiate between two concepts as obviously different as price control and anti-gouging laws. Go back to school, or try getting your facts from sources other than the RW pundits. The female guest is exactly right: there are anti-gouging laws on the books in most states, including the deep red states of Texas and Florida. Where’s the outrage over that? We need a complimentary federal law to give the government enforcement discretion so when states refuse to enforce their laws to protect the public, the DOJ can step in and make it happen.
