- Negan is the worst but he's not as evil as Diesel. Negan is a struggling guy who did a lot of stupid stuff maybe even evil but has he made up for all that now? Today we talk about him and how great of a character he truly is so stick around to hear all about Negan.

Imagine if Negan had came across Rick’s group earlier on before he turned bad and had joined them from the beginning. Negan is such an incredible character

I remember Negan standing out because he was the sort of villain who would make the most outlandish and elaborate threats, and unlike most of his kind, he actually fully delivered on those threats when he had to, and did so without hesitation.

I just cant imagine anyone else playing Negan. Jeffrey Dean Morgan is THE ONLY actor that is allowed to play Negan.
Abraham Ford could play Negan, he is the only one i feel like could do it, and even then, Jeffry is still miles ahead of him.

Negan is my favorite character. I went from hoping Rick would kill Negan, to not wanting Negan to be killed and understanding his pain.
Negan killing Abraham first is actually a very smart move on his part. It’s obvious that Abraham was the strongest out of the group, so having him around would have definitely been a pain for Negan
Yeah you can also see Abraham isn’t on the ground like everyone else, he’s arching his back out staring Negan down so I don’t think he was picked out at random at least.

idk why people stopped watching because of Glenn and Abe passing. People acted like it wasnt supposed to happen but in the comics they both die around the same time. It was always going to happen like that.

I stopped at that time, not because of the death, but because the épisodes after are so looooong and boring !
People left when Carl died too. While quality did dip i don’t think character deaths make sense for people to stop watching.

Always gotta surprise the audience so they never know what emotion to feel.
One thing that I can’t help but wonder is how Negan feels about the Saviors’ demise, considering he was locked up and unable to do a thing about it. Negan was their leader and clearly inspired many of his followers, although admittedly others were more treacherous or psychotic due to their personalities or made more ruthless due to the apocalypse as Shane was. I think he does have a large amount of remorse for his actions as leader of the Saviors because his downfall stood to doom the group due to the Sanctuary’s fractured leadership but it’s really never made clear, because in the end, he does appear to be genuinely mournful of his people’s demise whilst trying to change and at the same time working with the very people responsible for the Saviors’ defeat. Granted, I assume the communities did their best to prevent the Sanctuary’s downfall, but I doubt it was their top priority considering what happened in the war.
Yeah I think he does feel bad about everything he did in the past and regrets how he went about things as a leader, examples of that are in the episode where he goes back to the sanctuary and quietly reflects on his actions and his downfall. I do think we should have seen more of that though and had more scenes of him thinking about his group and how he failed them as a leader.
@@burdenofbest I guess we don’t get clear indications of that because Negan doesn’t interact with the Saviors he was on friendly terms with, and the Croat wasn’t around when the Saviors fell apart. Laura and several others were killed as well.
The saviors most likely fell apart, the system in place was a dictatorship where might is right and so when the only thing holding it together (negan) was removed it all came crashing down so quickly from all the resentment and hate within the group
When negan first made his appearance in the show and killed Glenn me and my mom already started hating him and wanted rick to kill him as soon possible but as time went on and negan started to show more humanity in him I and my mom were beginning to feel bad for negan and was starting to understand him 😢
@mrssimpson.1953We see him perform a similar stunt when he’s with Maggie in their own show, with the “knock knock” joke. That’s basically an intimidation tactic so that everyone knows he’s not killing out of obligation, but out of enjoyment, meaning he can’t be talked out of it and will seek opportunities to do it again. As soon as he turns around and they can’t see him anymore, his smile drops and he returns to a more serious demeanor.
Yeah it was messed up, but I think it was moreso a performance than anything else.

The world needs heroes and villains. Let me say that again. The world needs heroes AND villains. It does not work without them. We will create them when there is no one else around.
I totally understand how Glenn's gruesome death turned people off of the show, especially since he was such a beloved character we'd known since the beginning. Negan was a much needed new Energy in the show: he was confident, bold, cruel, and unshakeable in many ways. He took over when Rick faltered and showed what Rick could be if he allowed himself. The audience was faced with the impossible task of growing to humanize Negan as we learned more about him, his past with Lucille, how he loved children. Some audience members could forgive him, some couldn't, some relished in his cruelty because he seemed to be the only strong character left and you were drawn to him, and some hated him. It made the audience feel exactly how the members of Rick's team felt over the course of years. We watched as Negan redeemed himself, repented, regretted, and changed to be an incredible and loving man over years is truly a character arc that most shows WISH they could write in a believable way.
I haven't even watched this show, but you make an excellent argument for this character's arch. I'm happy to have found your channel. :)
you must watch it. Negan doesnt arrive until season finale of season 6 i believe. Start with season 1 though or nothing will make sense. ♥

@@curiousworld7912 Same lol, Walking dead was the only show since Buffy and charmed ended that I got invested in and watched every episode as it aired like clock work. Ive never seen True Detective maybe I will give that one a watch as well.
Yeah season one of True Detective is genuinely perfect and it’s an anthology series so if you don’t like the rest it doesn’t matter because it’s not linked to season 1. (The rest is fine just not as good)

I wanna ask who is the most underrated charecter in twd in your opinion.
I have a few tbh but I’ll only name a couple. I think Morgan and The Governor are the main ones that come to mind.
I know people like them and they do get a lot of love but I don’t hear as many people talk about the great stories and arcs they where involved in as I do some other characters, so I’m gonna say those two.

But that’s the beauty in the “Here is Negan” episode. This man was a loser, letting down his wife up until the point he was losing her to cancer. He was far from a leader. Everything he did post his wife’s death, he did to take control. Including forcing women to be his wives. He became the opposite of who he was because of what he put his wife through. He changed out of shame. I don’t think there’s ever excusing what he did. But there’s something captivating in understanding and following a broken man trying to reshape himself in search of redemption.

The reason a lot of people hate The Day Will Come When You Won't Be is that when you're watching it live, you had to wait a whole year to find out who died in the circle, and he kills Aberham, which is sad but does make sense and was a good end for the character, then his death is completely overshadowed by Gleen's sudden and non sensical death. (Why would Daryl punch Negan after being shown he is willing to kill his closest friends??) it made Aberhams whole storyline seem redundent. This episode also came only a few episodes after Gleen's fake out death, and the series is riddled with dumb deaths and this was just the breaking point for a lot of people. This isn't to say Negan is a bad character, he is amazingly written, his episode just came at a pretty bad time.

I love Negan but now I feel like his character has become disjointed. What I mean is that I don’t understand what his intentions or motivations anymore. In the dead city spin-off he argues with Maggie that he’s only trying to help her while also telling her she shouldn’t have to get over him killing Glenn and that no matter what he does she will never get over it. It’s really confusing. Also I miss Negan early on when he was introduced when he was just unapologetically cruel. I just think the writers redeeming him has dampened his character for me
Uh yeah no he stopped being a villain in season 9 season 8 was just the beginning of it and the only thing that’s left of prime negan in the show is the here’s negan episode that’s it rly in the comics he remains a villain still so yeah disjointed tv negan is more like leangan don’t get me wrong I love the actors performance and the character but he’s no villain in the show now if this channel ofc means comics Negan or Prime Tv Negan from S7&S8 then understandable

How is him telling her she shouldn’t forgive him is “confusing”? If anything, that would further help her.
That shows his growth. He realizes she never “owed” him forgiveness. If anything, that would eventually get her to come to terms with him. There is no pressure for her to forgive, so it would come more natural for her.
He’s helping her for the sake of Hershel. Learn to read between the lines.

People say the show got boring but I believe the writers had to dive into how powerless the group was under Negan and if they just bounce back, guns blazing hooray we won that would be a lot worse. Negan is one of the most notorious TWD villains and they had to deliver that

Even if Rick did "bad stuff" the only REAL bad thing he did was in season 8, which is AFTER Negan kills Glenn. There has never been a time where Rick did ANYTHING like what Negan did to Glenn. Also, Negan's men attacked them first :D

Rick didnt do villainous actions but he did plot to take over alexandria in season 5 and he said that he would have thanked carol for killing those two sick people which is a frankly horrible thing to say especially when you consider people like glenn were sick too. Also with ricks character, i honestly think if you put him in charge at the line up, everyone would have died

Yeah I do want to play them, I’m currently playing the Metal Gear Solid franchise for the first time and loving that so I have a lot of catching up to do game wise.
I would say Pablo Escobar in narcos makes you feel really sympathetic for his character. You are right in saying Negan is the greatest sympathetic villain but I would say only in a fictional field. In a show based on a real villain, you feel for Pablo towards the end before he dies, I always thought he was a horrible man and I didn't like the actions he portrayed on screen as they were really evil, but when getting hunted you see the humanity in him which is what very little shows show and that is what makes you sympathize for him.
I need to watch Narcos it seems like my kinda show.

No one ever talks about the fact that Rick's group killed a shitload of the saviour without even knowing who they were. Negan just killed two guys in retaliation. Just seems reasonable to me.

He is the one that understands that there is a lesser of two evils when trying to make people in line since he had no choice (His whole community is rotten to its core. Making it a "Better place" will make him either kicked or turned into a fence scarecrow). And that is Making a show for less bloodshed than genocide.

I love Negan, but sympathetic? Sure he's forgivable, but not sympathetic. The only hardship we see him go through prior to the saviors is his wife dies of cancer, and in a world where basically every person has lost family, it's not really grounds for sympathy.

Negan is possibly the most overrated character at this point. He hasn't been an interesting character since pre-covid years.
He was a solid villain but that lasted all of half a season. Then he got cucked and ended up overstaying his welcome.

Snark aside, I don't really understand how you can say that Negan never won at least a significant portion of the fandom when he's easily the most iconic and popular villain of the entire show, with many even placing him among the best characters. I also find it funny when Glenn fans try to attribute the declining viewership of the show entirely to Negan's character. You really don't think dragging out the Savior war for nearly three seasons, killing off Carl the way they did, Rick leaving and the show simply going on for as long as it did had anything to do with that? Negan even has his own spinoff with Maggie in Dead City, something that never would have happened if the fandom hated him as much as you claimed. If AMC thought that Negan was costing them viewers, they would have gotten rid of him long ago, source material be damned (again, just look at what they did to Carl).
Despite how my original comment might have come off, I'm not bashing Glenn. I just find it funny how bitter so many of his fans are after seven years that he wasn't untouchable and that his killer ended up becoming really popular. A lot of Glenn fans act like Negan murdered an actual member of their family, which is silly to me. I understand all too well being invested in a TV show and its characters, but a lot of them need to take a deep breath and realize these aren't actual people.
