Fans cannot really understand what goes into television. I get it, people just want to watch the show and have a good time. However it's not a comic book, you can't make them do what you want, you're dealing with real life actors, who have a personal life and are doing their own thing. You can only make a contract last up to 7 years in the USA. Now, it so happens that Carl was a child and so you'd need a child actor, obviously there's no such thing as an established 7 year old actor, so you make do with what you've got. We kept following the story and the actor grew up, but if we're honest with ourselves, I think every movie enthusiast could clearly see how bad of an actor he was. Many scenes with him in it were cut, and you could see why. To keep the actor on payroll when he was 18 would mean give him that extra pay, and then the question becomes, why pay so much for a bad actor? You wouldn't, so you kill of the character.
Imagine a world that Thomas Jane actually got the role of Rick. I’ve pretty much watched all the best television out there and without any hesitation I can easily say Andrew Lincoln is for me personally the best actor I’ve seen on television and movie wise with James Gandolfini and Brian Cranston following. While James and Brian gave breathtaking performances emotionally Andrew Lincoln was emotionally and physically breathtaking he put his heart and soul into the role of Rick Grimes destroying himself psychologically if you watch the behind-the-scenes of him before a scene he was always in a corner listening to depressing music and thinking of awful things to give that much more authentic performance. Say what you want about the walking dead but it is honestly mind blowing that not only did he not win a Emmy or a golden globe but he wasn’t even nominated 😓
Speaking strictly of TV characters I actually believe Bob Odenkirk is a slightly better actor than Brian Cranston and James Gandolfini and I do mean slightly, like Andrew Lincoln 10, Bob Odenkirk 9.9, Brian Cranston/James Gandolfini/Peter Dinklage 9.8. The walking dead Season 1-6 are the best televised depictions of what it would truly look like if this world would collapse. Take notes. We have this rose colored glass outlook on life. That society last forever. It doesn’t .
Great video man! Love you’re perspective, one critique I gotta give though is you could have DEFINITELY made this longer and gone more in depth with each season on how Rick changed, it seemed like you glossed over a lot.
Great video, friend. Rick Grimes is truly the G.O.A.T, I draw inspiration from many things from this man. By the way, I loved the background theme music from Far Cry 5.
I remember watching TWD back in the day, seeing Andrew Lincoln for the first time pretty much. That Rictatorship speech at the end of S2 made me say out loud "damn that guy's a really good actor", and is also when I fell in love with the character.
Damn I should have tried that but with subscribers… Hey since they didn’t give him a Emmy, we will ourselves. Give a subscribe if you think he deserves it.
I don’t think Rick Grimes is comparable to someone like Tony Soprano, Walter White, or Don Draper, but Rick is written to appeal to a different audience.
Andy Lincoln has been absolutely snubbed by the lack of Emmys for his performance. Even when the show wasn’t great in seasons 7 and 8, he was always on fire. The writing ironically did get a little better in the whisperer era, and it frustrates the hell out of me bc I think he would’ve nailed that arc. The commonwealth stuff wasn’t the best, but it was also pretty dull in the comic too so god knows how that would’ve turned out.
Rick grimes is amazing character. We watch him become a hero, a villain and become a hero again. His character development grows and grows and honestly I took a break from the show but returning to it is such amazing experience!
I 100% agree with you. Breaking and especially BCS, are the two best shows of all time with the best written characters. However I’ve always said that Rick is still my favorite character ever and always will be.
Hear me out…Andrew Lincoln in a Mad Max mini series. Another apocalyptic performance but he would get a chance to have a lot more badass moments in a series more based on vehicular combat then fighting the walking dead. He showed his chops as a bad ass in the earlier seasons battling terminus, and who can forget the scene with Joe and his gang. In my opinion, the world of Mad max always deserved a long, fleshed out and gritty series similar to TWD. Who better then Lincoln to fill those shoes. It’s almost too perfect. Probably believe I had died and gone to heaven but then I guess James Gandolfini RIP could be in it :(
@@StrongOakermy top five favorite tv characters are actually Dexter Morgan, Walter white, homelander, elliot alderson, and joe Goldberg. Everyone you named is amazing as well, just not sure where I’d rank them on my personal favorites
@@burdenofbest did you use far cry 5 soundtracks in the background?
@@Pilot119Dying Light and Far Cry 5
The way Andrew Lincoln brings Rick grimes to life throughout the show is some of the best acting. Honestly couldn’t imagine any other actor playing him
Andrew Lincoln Deserves The World For His Performance ❤
Gareths death was absolutely Ricks most brutal kill. The whole build up too it was disturbing.
I’m happy to finally find another walking dead fan who isn’t blindingly optimistic for these new shows
The best way to look at it is: it’s a nice refresher, that expands upon the world of the walking dead. It’s a new aesthetic and so far there is evidence (dead city) that the spin-offs will be good.
Dead city is great
@@Excitegaming0 much agree
Rick Grimes’ character changed my life
I cannot articulate how impressed with this video I am. Fucker even snuck in and Epic Rap Battles of History reference!
Great video mate! I loved Rick and took lessons from this show and character as a young man. Such a powerful performance by Mr Lincoln.
the fact there are so many amazing game soundtracks in the background make me smile
Rick Grimes character was always genuinely great and I don’t remember many inconsistencies or hyprocisies during his arc.
That’s despite the show itself being wildly inconsistent at times.
Season 1-2 Rick is Officer Friendly.
without rick walking dead wouldn't be as great as it is, he's a great main character with amazing character development
The greatest character in the middest show which is sad. But i love this character you can feel his emotions, Andrew lincon did him PERFECTLY
i absolutely love that you put far cry 5 music in the background, great video
Needs an award
One of the best actors of our time. He does human emotions so well in each situation
Season 1 of this show was...magic.
man..days gone by
Frfr
@lekan1234 that episode specifically is the greatest zombie media ever put on film. IMH
Putting the zombie lobby music is in was a genius move
Awesome video! Rick Grimes is cool! The subtle Farcry music in the background made this even better!
I can't wait to see how his story concludes in the ones who live.
THE DYLING LIGHT MUSIC GAVE ME CHILLS.
"Probably cause they stole rick's mattress" took me out
Dicky doo dah grimes? Far cry 5 music? Erb references? fnaf? friggin muppet dracula? damn nice video.
Man Season 1 was just so special. The first 5 seasons are all gold but something about 1 is so great. Maybe just nostalgia, idk.
I rewatched season 1 not so long ago and I can confirm it still holds up as a groundbreaking piece of television.
The "because its my opinion" is brilliant. People forget that even if people don't agree with you thats fine cause we all have different opinions, which should be respected. Brilliant video, CARLLLLLLLLLLLL oh no
Ricky Dicky Doo Dah Grimes > Balter Black
I mean, you can't really put them against each other, rick is just a guy trying to survive and keep his family alive, walter is a villain in the making
*“Yeh Got Meh”*

I love the Dying Light soundtrack in the background, I thought I was hearing things for a second as I'm currently replaying the masterpiece
It sucks how they didn't end the walking dead at season 8. It would have wrapped everything up so well.
Then again it wouldn’t fit the name correctly. The Walking Dead DID end at season 8 but like a walker, it’s still walking.
I like that you put Black Ops zombies and Dying Light soundtracks in the background
Is that Raiden in your profile picture?
Shane’s my favorite character but Rick will always be the best.
Alone his expressions tells stories. his different ptbs looks, his menacing expression, up to looking normal. He really felt the situation and what his character has been through. His acting was GOAT level. 10/10
The walking dead Season 1-6 are the best televised depictions of what it would truly look like if this world would collapse. Take notes.
We have this rose colored glass outlook on life. That society last forever.
It doesn’t .
the way he changed and severe character development is what made him the best, hope they don't mess up his character in the spin off
Cod zombies music in the background 🔥🎹
Honestly thought I was the only one who noticed
3:38 bro really just tried to sneak that in 😂
“Carl stay back this is gonna get bad.”

Thank you for explaining what I can’t explain when I say he’s one the greatest characters in tv history ❤️
Great video man! Love you’re perspective, one critique I gotta give though is you could have DEFINITELY made this longer and gone more in depth with each season on how Rick changed, it seemed like you glossed over a lot.
The dying light music thrown in there makes this so much better 😂
Great video, friend. Rick Grimes is truly the G.O.A.T, I draw inspiration from many things from this man. By the way, I loved the background theme music from Far Cry 5.
I drew much inspiration from him and Morgan
Thank you so much for saying what the music was from, such a great soundtrack and I couldn't for the life of me remember where it was from
Not far cry 5 and dying light instrumental in the background I love it! Lol
I can agree with that. This show was once my favourite on the planet till it fell from grace.
Twd is one of the most underrated televisions serie.
what do you think about the ones who live so far? Imo it's great, doesn't mess up rick's character and only enhances his story
I don’t have it in the UK but I do really want to watch it.
I think Negan is the most charismatic character ever written
Outstanding video. I always thought this and I’m glad that there’s others who agree.
Really enjoyed the subtle “let me tell you something” at 4:23
Oh... PHEW... i was about to go crazy in the comments if you didn't mention Elmo as being 1 of the best TV characters. Thank you ❤
(jk) not the best but still great
I remember watching TWD back in the day, seeing Andrew Lincoln for the first time pretty much. That Rictatorship speech at the end of S2 made me say out loud "damn that guy's a really good actor", and is also when I fell in love with the character.
Ricks final episode was 10/10
Love the music used on this video, FarCry 5, Dying Light 1, CoD zombies, ect.
i love rick grimes he is literally me and great video i enjoyed it 👍👌

Dying light music in the background is perfect!
I don’t think Rick Grimes is comparable to someone like Tony Soprano, Walter White, or Don Draper, but Rick is written to appeal to a different audience.
Cause he’s better
Walter White isn't a likeable character. Rick is.
He really is one of the greatest television characters ever created. Lol.
half way in the vid i can hear the Dying Light main menu theme i love it
Andy Lincoln has been absolutely snubbed by the lack of Emmys for his performance.
Yeah completely agree he should have won an Emmy
Honestly I think season 8 is the best season in twd I might be alone on that but I could care less
You're right about the Pilot being one of the greatest pilot episodes of all time. Comparable with the 2 part Pilot for Lost.
Damn, what’s the soundtrack called that plays around 9:06 ?
I can’t remember the exact name but it’s from the episode The Day Will Come When You Won’t Be.
Its from the episode "Hearts Still beating" I believe its called "Reconciliation".
3:38 I didn't not expect an ERB reference, kudos
Solid channel just subscribed
Thank you very much glad you like the content.
Great video and great choice of dying light music
Someone who knows the facts. Even though breaking bad and bcs are better shows in general Rick grimes is still the best character out of all the shows
He's the most relatable, that's why. Just a good man living in a corrupt world.
However I’ve always said that Rick is still my favorite character ever and always will be.
love the far cry music in the background-one of my favorite soundtrack albums ever
Great video!
I’d say another greatest of all time character is Barry Berkman from Barry
dude got me twice with vampire counting "TWO" in two different videos
Hear me out…Andrew Lincoln in a Mad Max mini series. Another apocalyptic performance but he would get a chance to have a lot more badass moments in a series more based on vehicular combat then fighting the walking dead. He showed his chops as a bad ass in the earlier seasons battling terminus, and who can forget the scene with Joe and his gang. In my opinion, the world of Mad max always deserved a long, fleshed out and gritty series similar to TWD. Who better then Lincoln to fill those shoes. It’s almost too perfect. In another reality it has happened
A Mad Max TV show would actually be really cool.
@@burdenofbestright?? On my recent play through of the mad max video game the entire time I was thinking it should be a dedicated series. There is just so much you can do in that world with crazy characters and insane backstories
