I saw this surgery on Dr. Osborne's channel. She did not leave it so long because she was afraid it was attached to the spine, that was once a fear that doctors told her about years eat. The real reason she did not have the surgery was because of her mother's anxiety over the surgery and fear of doctors. Once it got to the point of it strangling her, she told her mum that she was doing it no matter what mum said. Incidentally, she could not have chosen a better doctor than Dr. Ryan Osborne. He is a world-class head and neck surgeon with a crack team who performs surgery all over the world. He also performs surgeries free of charge for patients who cannot afford it.

That does add a lot of context, thank you.
As a woman who had to hear some anxiety BS prior to my endometriosis surgery from family members who didn't openly stop me, but still were clearly not on board: You don't damn love someone when your HYPOCRITICAL future fear of YOUR HYPOTHETICALLY hurting emotions are more important to you, than the very real, existent suffering of said someone. You're just being an egocentric poor excuse of "related" or "supposedly close". 🤨
Just as abusive as putting HYPOTHETICAL future babies (maybe, if minds change, if it doesn't kill you, if you maybe process the trauma, if lack of resources doesn't ruin you) over alive people with bodily autonomy.
Same as withholding freedom from people for what if they dare to make supposedly "terrible choices", according to you and only you.
Those parents might aswell have beaten her physically, as this emotional abuse was negligent and physically abusive. Makes my blood boil!
Same sort of abuse based problems that are just way beyond acceptable in 2025, you'd think!

A woman who i went to high school with she has NF ( along with numerous co morbidity), and she sadly lost her father from complications of NF. i think he was in his early 50s when he passed .when you first meet her, you dont notice her condition she has a few nodules on her face and hands that look like flesh coloured moles, but she is covered from head to toe in them and are very painful for her she is an amazing person and and an incredible mother to her children and she trys her best at not letting people see how she struggles with the condition. She has said herself that she doesn't mind the people who stare at her if they see her NF" bumps." its the ones that start pitying her or talking to her like she is mentally impaired when they find out that piss her off.

I'm most confused by this woman's case. I don't watch the show, so I don't know if they take international cases. But judging by her accent, this woman is German. Germany has obligatory public health insurance and I seriously can't imagine that she wasn't able to find a clinic with a surgeon who was willing to remove those huge tumours. If you live in Germany, you don't have to let things get this abysmally bad before you get health care options.

    • @Mimi-jv4kl

    • @KxNOxUTA
      @KxNOxUTA 13 วันที่ผ่านมา

Well I have surprises for you, because yes indeed even in our country of mandatory health care that is quite accessible but still not always, people go for that long.
My surgeon told me how he removed a tumor from the belly of a woman they had to lift with several ppl. She'd be thin as heck but had a belly like there's multiples in there.
      - some people are neglected and cannot get themselves help. Initiating help can actually be impossible when you're ill and unsupported in our bureaucracy hell 🤦🏻‍♀️
      - some people are on the streets
      - some people are abused by the ppl around them whilst being severely neglected
Aka what you said was an ableistic "No person with sufficient physical and mental health and support that enables them to access medical help (!!!) would let it get this far, in a country like mine"
That's a big difference and I invite you to account for that, because otherwise it turns into a survivor shaming "If the access is there (for able people) then it's their mess up for waiting so long" statement instead, which is actively damaging to people in those situations!

I had 3 children with NF1. I lost one to the cancer that can develop from that.
My (now ex husband) was the carrier.
Sad thing is, his parents knew about the genetic condition and never discussed it with their children.
Only my one son had the tumor, it was in his abdomen, just under his left kidney, looped around his spine (causing scoliosis) and went down past his left thigh and filled in his left thigh area.
He had surgery to remove the tumor in his left thigh twice and a separate surgery to insert a rod in his spine to correct the scoliosis.
He wore a TLSO brace for 7 years, from kindergarten through 6th grade before the scoliosis wasn't controlled by the brace.

I have a complaint. Star Trek brought us flip cell phones, and video conferencing. What we really need is those beds in the sick bay that automatically take measurements and tests the moment to lay your patient on it. That's why they only needed one doctor. LOL. It seems like we would be CLOSER to bringing that to reality. All those seperate tracking machines with seperate wires....built into the ER bed. It SHOULD be possible to begin. A single line; by voice control that applies meds as the doctor calls for them, in the amounts that they prescribe. I have a dream......

I don’t get why Dr Youn kept harping on about “hope he got imaging”. When asked why the tumour wasn’t dealt with sooner, she said “we didn’t know that it wasn’t attached to the spine”, which would mean they already had imaging before seeing the surgeon - I’m guessing by the time the imaging was done, the tumour was already too large for her previous doctor to handle.

There's a young guy that has those on his face. They are big and his face is quite misshapen I would imagine it would be too challenging for any doctor to attempt to remove.

There is no way that her psychology isn't permanently altered due to this growth.
Too bad her parents couldn't get it removed earlier. This would affect her personality and self-esteem so much that it would take decades of therapy and meds to recover.
I can't imagine this poor child leaving the house often. This would affect her social and emotional intelligence growth. This probably means that most of her life is lived online and in her imagination.
I can understand her to a tiny degree. So glad this young lady got it romoved. Now the work begins of getting out of the toxic mindset of inferiority and self isolation.
