Hi Chris. Wow!! I'm kinda shocked at the ending. I feel like you covered up and wiped away some really cool things!😂😂 But remembering that is was just a paint paint paint exercise I get it. Kinda.😂😂❤️
Hey Susan! 😂😂😂Yeah, I bounced around for sure. There are a few places during the painting that I loved and have every intention of creating paintings based on them. I came away with many ideas for future paintings.
Really enjoyed this, and I enjoy how you create layers and textures. I especially liked it when it was "busy," before you covered those interesting shapes and colors but I also like your end result. Thank you for taking us on your journey.
soooo nice these many layers. one needs the gut to always overpaint even parts one likes and just go on. it ends out sooo rich and deep. very nice. that's exactly my lesson! ... 🙂
Chris, This video had me yelping as though watching an action film - the axe murder was destroying the village! What a ride, seeing you build a composition, several times, take it through heaven and hell and eureka, the beautiful dove flies out of the hat! Great tutorial on fearless techniques - thanks again.
Thanks so much, Ann! Haha, maybe I'll create a director's version with dramatic cinematic music.🎬 I thoroughly enjoyed reading your descriptive comment! ❤️
I was enjoying watching your process, then you put the bits of red into it and I thought wow! Then you used charcoal (think) to go around some of the shapes and make new ones and I thought wow again! Then you obliterated and I thought oh no! Then you put the hot pink in nice, and scraped back to show the layer below I thought great ok. I like it, but my favourite was left back at the charcoal outlines it had a strong industrial feel to it. The final piece although it was still industrial and still strong it just felt lonely. Cheers!
Hey Chris! Amazing! Love what you were doing in this video! ❤ And I like the result at the end. But I really loved (!) it at 11.37!!! For me it would have been a wrap right there. 🤩😉 Also liked it at 10.37 too. 😅 Will try to do something like that myself. 😊 Thanks for letting us being a part of this adventure. 🙏🏼
Funny... it goes through so many types of abstract. I think my favourite moment was around 2'45 to about 3'15... ish. There was something so spontaneous about that zone😊. As always, Chris, very inspiring. Back to my mud-making!😅
Im watching the life process! First the starting out, then lots of change change change, the background being revealed having a bearing on the now, the twists and turns, the unexpected, and the highlights … we all have them, and they’re definitely neon if we’re lucky 😊… love it… WOW ❤
Very inspiring process, techniques and thoughts Chris! I loved watching the painting evolve. I liked the 3rd orientation you showed at the end the best, it reminded me of a path leading to a building. I am wanting to start working on canvases more. Your videos are very inspiring to me! Tfs
@chrisloudart after 4 years of being self-taught, im still trying to figure out my style. I've tried masking over previously painted work, and I think I like this technique more than the others. I just have to master using complimentary colors.
@@teetreadwell9290 I'm sure you will figure out your style eventually. You'll probably be the last to actually recognize it when it presents itself. I don't feel that I have a specific style, however, others tell me I do.
There were so many times, watching you paint, that I was thinking - stop - I love it there! But I get that it's the process and you're enjoying it so who am I to think you should should stop? If you get joy from it, keep going!
Hey Diane! Yeah, I got many ideas during this process for future paintings. Had I not been focusing on a certain kind of painting session, I would have probably stopped painting at several different places.😊
Really enjoyed this video. There were several times towards the end that had me thinking "At the Beach" but the final place it landed was "Boardwalk". That's the great thing about abstract...it often allows people to see what they want. Thanks for sharing.
So happy I found you channel. I have learned much. Thank you for your time in these videos. i look forward to seeing more. You have to play in mud to build the castle. May the force be with you. Peace
Love this exercise, and will definitely give this a try as I migrate from gel printing to painting now. This painting went through such an array of changes, which was wonderful to see. Watching this felt like seeing a hundred butterflies going from cocoon stage to flight minutes apart. Loved every minute. Thanks so much Chris.
Thanks Kathy! I really appreciate your beautiful and descriptive comments. I'm going to work on a large painting for a little while today. But then I'm going to be practicing gel prints the rest of the day. Wish me luck with learning the gelli plate.😂
What's your favorite size of canvas to use? Do you find yourself when you start with squares and rectangles? And sharp edges, you keep it that way in the painting.Or do you ever do circles and squares together?Just wondering, you do a great job.And I love watching your videos.Thank you
Hey Tami! Thank you very much for your kind words ❤️ My favorite right now is 36"x48", but for these videos I've lately been using smaller 8"x8", 10"x 10" and 8"x 10". The smaller ones are much more manageable for videos. How about you? I would say overall I don't combine circles and squares for no particular reason. That sounds like a challenge for me to include both in a few paintings.😊 I want to say I typically keep hard edges, but in a rough state. I'm sure if I really looked, I'd see a combination of both. What do you usually do?
My issue is, that if I get something I like, I'm not willing to cover it up. There's a tipping point that I don't go past. I think I might be missing what's on the other side of that.
I totally get that, Veronica! It can be hard to push past that comfort zone, but sometimes the most amazing discoveries happen when you do. And full disclosure, you will mess some up, so you have ok with taking those risks.

I've done this intuitively. Amazing. Thanks for the affirmation.
That's fantastic, Phillip! I find it to be a fun and engaging process.

The painting changed so much in your process. Fun to watch but stressful too. You covered some cool things. Looks like a pier to a body of water.
The process can definitely be a rollercoaster, but it’s great that you found it enjoyable and I love the idea of a pier by the water. ❤️
Really enjoyed this, and I enjoy how you create layers and textures. I especially liked it when it was "busy," before you covered those interesting shapes and colors but I also like your end result. Thank you for taking us on your journey.
Hey Luken! Thank you so much!❤️ There are definitely several painting that will come from this session.
soooo nice these many layers. one needs the gut to always overpaint even parts one likes and just go on. it ends out sooo rich and deep. very nice. that's exactly my lesson! ... 🙂
Thanks, Sabina! It isn't always easy to keep going, but it really pays off in the end and can add a lot of character to the painting.❤️
Wise words about just enjoying the process. A good exercise!
Thanks so much, Danny!

Thank you so much! It will be interesting to see what I can come up with when I revisit those stages in future paintings. Thanks for watching!🙂
Maybe it isn't a masterpiece but it was very enjoyable to watch 😊
Thank you so much, Susana! It was definitely enjoyable to make 😊

Back to my mud-making!😅
Thank you, Emmanuel! It really does bounce around quite a bit. I just got done muddying up a large canvas.😂😂😂 I guess I'll fix it when it dries.
Really enjoying your videos Chris. I love them all! I thought “ladders” throughout. Love the shape and metaphor of them. Keep painting!😊
Thanks so much, Carolyn! I appreciate your feedback ☺️
Wow - wonderful finish to this playful journey! You've helped me to not be afraid and inspired me a LOT. Love your style and work. Thanks for sharing!
Thanks so much, Cheryl! I'm so glad these are helpful. 😊❤️

Thanks so much, Yolande! I can see that path now. I'm excited to see what you create on canvas! Are you going to record yourself painting?
@@chrisloudart Thanks Chris! I will probably record, we’ll see how it goes 😄
Absolument superbe Chris ❤️❤️❤️
Merci Martine!
Really enjoying watching your process man, so thanks for the videos an the energy I get from them..
Hey Paul! My pleasure-glad you like them!
This intuitive abstract painting is stunning. I really love it ❤ and the way you use the different tools
Thank you, Nilda! 😊 I enjoyed playing with this one.
Chris, have you ever used masking tape to create a painting?
Hey Tee! A couple of times, but I would like to explore doing it more. Do you create with masking tape?

Thanks, Martha! I'm so glad 😊
I enjoyed the process, and the result is interesting.
Thank you, Guylaine!
Cool blue robot guy gets a glimpse of warm fiery passion; maybe it's out of reach, but why not lift a hopeful arm of recognition?
I’m digging the story you’re creating here!
👍
Thanks, John!
I liked it best at about 10:37. At the end it reminded me of a mummy's foot.
Hey Captain! I've always seen something similar-a foot in a cast elevated off a bed.
@@chrisloudart I can see that too, however, the strips made me think of the mummy!
Wow that’s amazing!👏
Thank you, L.M.!❤️

Great example of the grid format…
Thanks, Brian! I'm glad you enjoyed the video! I'm not sure I'm thinking of the same meaning for grid format that you are.

Hi Chris, are letting any of these layers dry before adding more?
Hey Ruth! Yes, I'll use a hair dryer on the thinner layers sometimes, but for the thicker layers I'll walk away and let them dry for a little bit.
Beach front
Hey Laura! I hadn't thought of that one yet, but I totally see it now.⛱️
Acrylic paint I assume ?
Hey Jason! Yes, acrylics.
for a while i thought the american flag landed in the mojave. 😂
🤣 I have several that at one stage or another look like a flag.
