Great idea. I keep some of my used paper towels because the colors are prettier than my paintings many times. This image makes me think of a map…the land overflowing with garbage and the sea being relatively clean.
Lovely! If you lightly spritz the back of the canvas, let it sit for about 2-3 minutes, then hit the back with a blow dryer, the canvas usually tightens back up. Thanks for sharing! 🙂
Thanks, Christie! I can usually get that method to work tighten to remove any slack, but unfortunately it didn't work on the corner "dimples" on this canvas. Thanks for the tip!
I am so inspired by this. I'm going to do this tonight. It looks amazing. Texture and mess is my thing so this appeals to me. I love watching all of your abstract videos because they're always just fantastic.
It was relaxing to watch the process and maybe I will be redirected to some of the stuff i keep lying around, but i know i am not a manic upcycler on canvas... yet. The composition seems to work, and i was just imagining aerial views of a coastline. Thank you, Chris.😊
Thanks, Emmanuel! It was relaxing to do. It most definitely has an aerial view of a coastline. I realized I needed to start using more of the paper I've been "collecting" or it was going to get out of control. 🤦♂️
This is a terrific idea, Chris and I really like your interpretation. You have spawned so many iterations in my mind - can't wait to have at it. Thank you, once again.
Hi Chris, I don't know why but I cracked up when you said mental clutter in your head. I guess I'm guilty. My room mate laughs at what I bring home I'm a garbage picker. Since doing art so many things jump out at me. Thx so much for your art you keep me going. Even what I don't like I enjoy myself and I say hooray to that.
Hey Kate! I'm guilty of mental clutter as well. It's amazing the treasures you can find just lying around when you have an artist's set of eyes. I'm so glad these videos are helpful 😊
Hi Chris! Wow this is kinda how my mind has been feeling lately😂I really like this one. I love watching your process. I liked the olive green but the blue is what it needed. Seeing the darker blue just at the edge of the collage really gave the whole thing that dimension. Great painting! Do you literally work in the moment when using papers and scraps? I'm still having trouble just DOING. I'm overthinking it. 😏 Thanks! Susan in AZ🏜️
Hey Susan! Thank you 😊 I do work in the moment, however, since this is sped up, it looks like I am reacting much faster than I actually am. I do several timed thumbnail warm-ups each day which forces me to act quickly and helps build those creative muscles. Those have been quite beneficial. No time to overthink👍
To get rid of the warping all you need to do is hold it over a boiling kettle for a minute and the canvas will stretch itself out and become smooth and drum tight.x
Love this, 😂 I used up all my watercolor scraps making modern triangular Christmas trees for Christmas cards this year. But I was just heading to the garbage with my paint covered scott towels clutched in my hand 😂 and I have cardboard........
Haha, I have to keep myself in check so I don't save too much in hopes of using it all up. With that said, I'm surprised how much I found a use for. That's a great idea for making Christmas cards! Thanks, Nicole!
Just come across your channel. Really enjoyed watching this video. I've used bubble wrap to add paint marks, but not to create texture, will have to give it a go.
Thank you! I'm so happy that you enjoyed this!😊 You can get great textures using bubble wrap as is or by scrunching it up a little and dabbing thick bits of paint with it. Let me know how it goes.
Love this and a great motivator for using scraps. Is blue your favorite color? After watching many of your videos I have an inkling that it's a comfort color for you. (Not a bad thing) I love how the green base color shows up from the bubble wrap.
Love this process
Thanks so much, Roxann!

I love the idea of decluttering both by using up scraps ( I have sooo much) and decluttering mentally as I create. I also love how this turned out. 🙂
Thank you so much! Creating is such a great way to clear the mind from all the daily noise.
This is great and very interesting .Thanks Chris 🤗

Really funny ❤
Thanks, Susana!😊
Umm... Two pieces?
Hey Angelina! Not sure what your question means 😊
..?
I'm getting the sense that you're puzzled about something. Am I close?
I like this work. Very beautiful collage. Thanks
Thank you so much, Luigina!
