I had a 26-20 shirt the next year. I was never happier as a fan at the time to beat Michigan at their house.

Krenzel was the quintessential Tressel- ball QB, a cerebral game manager with a winner’s attitude.
This was my first Ohio State Michigan game in person. I never expected to win. It was wonderful.
Little did we know the joy to come.

For the prior 17 games before 2001 between Ohio State and Michigan, Ohio State's record was 4-12-1. For the 17 games from 2001 to now, their record is 15-2 against Michigan.
All-time series record when John Cooper left: Michigan 56, Ohio State 35, 2 ties. After two decades of Tressel and Meyer: Michigan 58 (yes, TTUN has only won 2 games this century), Ohio State 49 (really 50, but you know, Tatoogate...) and 2 ties. The two of them have been chipping away at what was once a seemingly insurmountable lead in the series by the Wolverines.

Hello to all my Ohio State friends. Love to watch the game every year. Whether we win or not, I love the rivalry. Two best teams in the big ten. I remember growing up watching Bo Schembechler and Woody Hayes go at it. And In the days of Earle Bruce at Ohio State. Then Bo Schembechler left Gary Moore came then he was replaced by Lloyd Carr.... In Ohio State. Coach Cooper... I couldn't believe every year Michigan beat Ohio State. If I'm not mistaken Michigan's record versus Ohio State under coach Cooper was 11 and 1. Then came Jim Tressel. I was glad to see the Bucks finally win another one but I was not expecting one I have seen over these last 17 years. We have been through so many coaches at Michigan after Lloyd Carr left. Jim Harbaugh is a good coach but I don't think he truly understands the Rivalry. That's the one thing I miss is the excitement in Michigan football. That died when Bo Schembechler died. Yes Lloyd car was good but I don't think he had the same excitement as back in the Glory Days of Woody Hayes and Bo Schembechler. But whether we win or lose I still love the game. My hat's off to Ohio State there a great school and a great team. Good luck this year. Go blue and go Buckeyes
Thank u for all that because u sound knowledgeable and care that michigan eventually starts making this the rivalry is alive. However i think ur off saying harbaugh doesn't get this rivalry. His dad knows ir, he played in in, abd he knows it better than 99 percent. But his timing came during a 20 year osu run unlike any in its history. I think its just bad timing for JH
Gary Moeller, not Gary Moore. Moeller was an Ohio State LB, team co-captain, played for Woody in the early 60s. Bo Schembechler was an assistant coach for the Buckeyes when Moeller played for the Buckeyes. Moeller then coached under Bo at Miami of Ohio, and then went to Michigan with Bo.
Cooper was 2-10-1 against Michigan when he was at Ohio State 😳. No need to make it any worse than it was.He did beat Michigan when he was at Arizona State.1-0 as Sun Devils coach.Little did Cooper know how tables would turn against Michigan when he came to Columbus.When it came to Rose Bowl Sugar Bowl and Holiday Bowl he was good.

True fans of the rivalry have respect for each other. Both of us want the rivalry to return to national prominence with the last game deciding who goes to the Rose Bowl or National Championship. Hell, the way things are set up now we could be looking at something crazy in a couple years where Ohio State/Michigan play the last game and then both of them play again in the conference championship as the top two teams in the legends and leaders (they should rename them).

WOW. that catch at 3:42 was goddamn amazing. it doesn't look like much, but if you've ever made a catch like that before you realize how hard it is to catch a football coming at you fast as hell like that. that was a badass, awesome, underrated catch

Yea, but they earned it that year. They had some good years back then. I remember they used to give Ohio State trouble. And if USC wasn't cheating back then, maybe they would've had a Rose Bowl too.
I liked that game too. After that the Buckeyes dominated the Big 10. Went to 4 National Championships games and won 2. Looking to win another this year. Go Bucks!
It's crazy to think about what this win started. The nightmare of the 90s against them was still fresh ... but I still get nervous every year for The Game.
I remember the exhilarating excitement when Tressel won in Ann Arbor - something Cooper never achieved and he did it IN HIS FIRST MICHIGAN GAME! It was an incredible win.
So the record in the last 22 years is 17 & 5 .. with the recent developments such as “Hairball “doing his best Pete Carrol imitation and the revolving door coaches carousel at TTUN, players jumping to the transfer portal etc. we can expect the winning trends to continue…OH!!!!!O

This speech had me sold on him & then the game where they backed it up let me know he was real! That team up north had only won twice since that speech! Wolverines gave some tough close battles in the midst of blowouts, but they should never be able 2 beat the buckeyes again! Nobody in the big ten frfr but ik they get distracted at times & slips up prudue 2018 Iowa 2017 it's cool tho!

I knew somewhere there had to be an insecure M fan that would have to chime in....😂😂😂 now your guy who performed cpr on your program with the looming allegations of a cheating is gone. What was missed in this video was Marquis Walker missed touchdown pass in the endzone when he was wide open. It cost Michigan the game.

@TheChickenapple People knew who Tom Brady was while he played at Michigan. Though he only played one season, he still produced good results, including a victory against Alabama in the Orange Bowl.

The 1987 Ohio State vs. Michigan game was Earle Bruce's last game as Ohio State Buckeyes 🌰 Football 🏈 head coach. The 2-10-1 record against the Michigan Wolverines, including the 0-6 record at Michigan Stadium in the Big House at Ann Arbor was one of the main reasons why John Cooper was fired on January 2, 2001.
There were many dark and disappointing years before 2021. Some wins, but mostly losses. When JJ McCarthy shared the QB position with Cade McNamara, things started to jell. Soon JJ proved that he was the best Michigan had seem in many years, and we started to see McNamara less and less.

*Now we're planning on beating the buckeyes for a fourth year in a row, but the Wolverines have lost all their top players to the NFL, so we'll see.*

This game and the 2006 game were the only two times I can remember the OSU-Michigan game being played into the nighttime (or evening in this case). I think this one was a 1:30 start time while the '06 1 vs. 2 matchup was at 3:30.
