The win against Ohio state this year would be better than last year victory because of Ohio state talented roster , CJ stroud heisman chances and draft stock, it’s at Columbus, Ohio state receiving core, and Michigan has all of the momentum from last season.
@theflushingtoilet6578 from 73-75. Michigan wore white jerseys in all 3 Orange Bowl appearances, 1-0 with maize pants, 0-2 with all white. 2022 was the first win of 4 times Michigan wore all white in Columbus. Edit: I forgot the playoff loss to Georgia in 2021 was also that year's Orange Bowl. Michigan wore all blue so they still only have won that game with maize pants.
I go on record as saying I was team Henson.....I think he got a raw deal being drafted by Bill Parcels as opposed to a WB friendly coach. When Henson got to the league, his ceiling was basically Jeff Hostetler....
Lloyd Carr was a great coach who was done dirty because of a loss to Appy State. And Michigan went through years of mediocrity without him. Until Jim Harbaugh rescued us.
Carr was done. Every great coach reaches that age where they get stale or complacent. Carr was at that point. He was putting good Michigan teams out there in the mid 2000s but not great. Michigan went about the whole coaching process wrong that’s why they settled for rich rod. Remember everyone wanted les miles and he stayed at lsu. I will say if you put on the tape of Drew Henson and JJ McCarthy. Very Similar. Mobility Jj a faster runner though and is a more natural runner better feel for it. Drew had the ability to fit balls in tighter windows. Jj has arm strength but not like Drew. There was a reason why this guy was signed by the Colorado Rockies. 3rd baseman. He can throw the ball late on some pass patterns and still get away with it because he has that rocket arm. Jj better on extending plays and has gotten a lot better on rolling out to both sides of the field. U can do more offensive packs with jj. Spread zone read. Rpo. Then again that wasn't coach Lloyd Carr thing. He ran more of pro pocket passing oriented game. Outside of a few bootleg Staples to the tight end or full back.
I know Drew Henson never lived up to the hype (shoulda stayed his senior year) but man, he has the best arm of any Michigan QB I've ever seen. Him and Chad Henne threw lasers. They could throw the ball deep on a rope. Henne often threw it too hard instead of making it easier on his receivers.
David Terrell and Marquise Walker is the best WR duo in Michigan history. At the very least they are the most underrated. Terrell is perhaps the most talented WR Michigan has ever had and Walker has the best hands of any Michigan WR I've seen. No wonder they were the #1 and #2 WRs coming out of High school. The only duo I'd put right up next to them would be Desmond Howard and Derrick Alexander (another criminally underrated Michigan WR). Also, Walker's senior season, 2001, with a freshman John Navarre at QB is one of the best WR seasons in Michigan history. His catch at Iowa that year is right up there as one of the best from a Michigan WR all time.
@@desmondwilliams4068 I respectfully disagree. David Terrell could do everything Braylon could, without all the drops Braylon had in his career. And Avant was nowhere near as good as Walker. I don't think I've seen another Michigan WR with hands as good as Walker. As I mentioned in my original post, Desmond and Alexander were obviously very good. If you wanted to include their return duties into the equation then they were definitely better. But in just receiving skills I'd take Terrell and Walker. Both of them were big WRs, especially compared to Desmond and Alexander. But Desmond was the greatest kick returner in Michigan history; and I'd put Alexander just behind him at #2. Still think Walker is the most underrated WR, and perhaps player in Michigan history. Didn't help that his best year came in Navarre s first season after Terrell, Henson, A Train and a bunch of other players left the year before.
This loss plus a rough bowl game ended Cooper's career at Ohio State. That brought Jim Tressel, whose 26-20 win at Ann Arbor in his first year brought Mo Clarett to Columbus (instead of Michigan or elsewhere), and that, plus a bullshit OPI call against Braylon Edwards, made Tressel a recruiting god in Ohio (previously Michigan, Penn State, and others all recruited Ohio very well) and allowed Ohio State to set up its period of dominance. History is funny.
Drew Henson left Michigan with Marquise Walker, David Terrell, and Chris Perry coming back to Michigan. I will never understand. He could've been a legend now he's just a dude that once played at Michigan

Glad we won and of course I remember the bootleg -- but why TF did ultra-conservatice Lloyd Carr go for it on 4th down, when kicking the FG would have given us an 8 point lead? That could've been disastrous, wow.
Henson had such a fantastic arm. It's a crime that we only got 8 real games out of him. And he made a colossal mistake going to play minor leagues instead of sticking around for his senior year and ending up the #1 overall pick in the NFL draft, which he would have been easily. And he hurt Michigan badly too by leaving. With Henson at QB in 2001 we would have easily been 11-0 in the regular season.
