My sister picked the greatest year to win the Michigan ticket lottery, so my brother and I were in the South Stands again that day cheering like crazy. What an atmosphere that was...I remember when Mike Doss was introduced (last home game for the Seniors and Doss was introduced last), Ohio Stadium was shaking. I remember when Maurice Clarett first came into the game, it shook again. It was different this game...we stood and cheered the entire game, only sitting down during time-outs/stoppages in play. I remember the crowd booing the UM marching band off the field when they snuck in a quick "Hail To The Victors" at the end of their halftime show. I remember the roar when Clarett caught the sideline pass on the game-winning TD drive and the roar when Maurice Hall scored on the option (great call). I remember the roar when Will Smith forced and recovered the fumble and I remember the roar when Will Allen intercepted the final pass & the scene afterward, with the OSU students rushing the field. I can't believe it's been 20 years now...I think this was the second-most important game of my lifetime, only topped by the Miami (FL) game. How I love the 2002 OSU team!
Actually, I need to give Darren Scott the credit for forcing g the fumble that Will Smith recovered. Scott was a great and very underappreciated Buckeye as well. From Charleston, WV...GO BUCKS!
I watched this game from my recliner in my room at my grandma's house I was like 18 at the time I and 37 right now and I get just as nervous at the end of it now as I did when I was just a ignorant teenager. Lol I love my Bucks can you imagine how different this rivalry would be if they lost this game it might be in a totally different direction.
Musburger is underrated. His work 💪on College Basketball with Billy Packer in 80s for College Basketball and College football with Dick Vermeil 😳 is legendary
They had a bye week August 31 (Week 2) and they didn't play for 40 days following this game, Some teams had up to 2 games left on the schedule since the Big Ten didn't have a championship game at the time.
Great thing about the BCS era is no more of 'hey Ohio St. congrats on another Big 10 title, now go play a road game at the Rose Bowl against USC or UCLA'. Biggest scam ever.
I'd never imagined, being 2020 now, that the team up north has only won twice since then. Total domination this century for Thee Ohio St University. Does Michigan still have a team...? I'm not sure...
True, that. I had a bad feeling before that game, we were way too overconfident and Michigan made us pay. Not worried a bit though, we're always loaded or reloading. Maybe Michigan can play 2 straight games at The Shoe now, since they were scared to play us in 2020. That should of counted as a forfeit and another win for us. Everyone knew we would of embarrassed them, even Michigan knew it. That's why they chickened out. Ohio St never has, or will be, too scared to play anyone....Especially Michigan.
@NorthOfWindsor I said this century, so the fact your talking about the 90's, idk...and a tie in 2016 wtf are you talking about? I know and work with a lot of Michigan fans, and never once has anyone called 2016 a tie. That's just desperate talk....Plus, I still can stand behind the fact the Buckeyes have never been afraid to play anyone. Even the hardcore Michigan fans admit in 2020, they wanted no part in getting embarrassed by us.
@NorthOfWindsor Michigan was lucky to get a tie against Ohio State in 92.Buckeyes outplayed Wolverines in 92.Upset win at Syracuse and tie against Michigan showed Buckeyes were on verge of turnaround. 3 Bowl wins, 4 1 or 2 loss seasons and 2 wins over Michigan from 93 to 98.
@@B1G_Brother Michigan will find it much tougher moving the ball in Ohio Stadium 🏟 with the Buckeyes having a new Defensive Coordinator. In November Michigan will be playing Rockettes Offense: One, Two, Three Kick.

Keith Jackson by this time was doing mostly Pac-10 games when he scaled back his schedule back in '99 as a condition of his return to ABC Sports. I may be one of the few that like Brent Musburger I like how he gets the crowd into the game. I like his energy and his passion for each and every sporting event. Brent also at this time was doing mostly Big Ten games so he got Ohio State assignments a lot at that time, He did 5 of their last 6 games to finish the '02 season beginning at Wisconsin and ending here. Only exception is when Ohio State hosted Minnesota Brad Nessler did that game with Bob Griese
I didn't like Musberger at times throughout his career, especially as he got older but he 100% made the 2002 OSU games more memorable/exciting. He was definitely on top of his game that season.
@@MattBuckeyeGuy I agree that Brent did exciting calls for Ohio State, but I think that's because Brent was openly rooting for that Ohio State team. ;) Kinda like how Keith Jackson always preferred USC to Notre Dame (perhaps understandable).
14:00: I'm not trying to take anything away from Ohio State, but this call is atrocious. Edwards didn't initiate the contact - Gamble did. So the refs basically penalized Edwards for being bigger and stronger and for WINNING the contact that Gamble initiated. At absolute WORST, this is mutual and offsetting PI, but more likely just no call.

I'll say this. I really enjoyed watching that game and it was one of the best college football games I've ever seen.

Love football games like this. Epic defense and run game
Man I love Brent Musberger's calls... Him, Marv Albert, and Dick Vitale are my favorites...made me feel like I was physically at the games

Gamble made a helluva play on punt coverage. He may not have made the tackle but he held him up enough to let coverage catch up.
Doss was one tough mother .
He made this defense better . The field was in bad shape .
13 regular season games and no bye week. I'd like to see that repeated. O-H!!!

Is it just me, or did games seem more physical back then?
Yes, it was much more physical because the targeting and other rules to protect the players were not called back then.
When Krenzel got hit then got the delay of game call at 3:27 he would’ve been immediately taken out of a game today
@@brandonchilds9160 right, and Krenzel's next play was a pass *way* behind his man. He was definitely, ahem, "woozy."

They played Texas Tech that year in the Pigskin Classic, so they played 5 non-conference games.
Can’t believe how bad OSU and MUs quarterbacks were at throwing in this game.
But boy could Craig Krenzel run

The only thing that would have made this game better is if Keith Jackson had called the game--not the loud-mouthed, over bombastic Brent Musburger.
