    Judo is a decent art but the sport aspect has completely screwed it up. The IJF and other orgs have eliminated different parts of it, and that in turn trickles down to academies who teach mostly for sport nowadays. The more an art contracts, the less effective it is. An art should be somewhat well-rounded.

    • @Joseph981000
      @Joseph981000 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Still got to admit, even though many techniques are lost and it’s more sport oriented, the throws are still scary in a real life application.

    • @scoobydoo7275

      @@Joseph981000 the techniques aren't lost, you would just find them in a self-defense oriented art like Japanese Jujutsu.

      I train at one of the renegade freestyle Judo schools, and we still train and practice the whole syllabus in randori. There are actually quite a few less competitively focused schools out there that do (whether they're into freestyle or not), but they don't get any limelight. I believe there will continue to be a sort of low-key preservationist fringe of Judo forever. I'd like to see it capture more attention, though.

    It would be cool to see a series where he teaches Judo over an extended period of time to someone like Brock Lesnar. All the way through their Kyu grade development. Someone who is already athletic but gets to work on the finer motor skills of grappling.

    Judo is the best,among any animal human are the only ones who can fall break their hand,leg,neck never heard of a dog or a cat running and falling resulting in broken limbs.But my sensei told me once that a baby knew exactly how to fall as much as a judoka.he didn't tell me why we forgot but I reckon it's fear. It does make you tense meaning stiff,stop breathing thus keeping air inside which cause more damage when falling. judo bring you back to the roots of life,make you get use to fall and same in life not being scared of falling is an amazing advantage and nothing beat real judo.
    Best means minimum to achieve maximum in anything business, sport etc and judo is that.facts anyone welcome to test😁

    • @uncircumcisedcircus

      A very simplistic version is Judo involves throws, sweeps, trips, pins and submissions. But the sport itself favors the throws where both shoulders hit the mat at the same time.

      @@devriestown Internationally judo is way bigger as far as participation. In the US judo isn’t as popular. Japan, France, all of the form ussr, and lots of asia and Africa have big judo communities. Judo has been around a lot longer so it shouldn’t be surprising. USA judo just has a lot of issues with politics and a bunch if sanctioning bodies. The olympic program is pretty good tho. Spared some of them and they were very sharp.
