Well, they got a new backer thanks to you! I'm happy to stumble on it right now because it seems that the campaign was on its last stretch so I was able to take a pledge before the end :)
Love your content, Sam. Really appreciate how you approach these campaigns from a unique perspective as you dig into the company and their previous offerings and not just this particular game. I'm hoping that your subscriber base continues to grow. Thanks!
I have nothing but positive experiences with Battle Systems over several campaigns, backing many but not all of them. I'm glad that's reflected in your opinion. Worth mentioning that there's an active community behind Core Space that share scenarios etc. making the game very replayable; expect the same with Maladum.
To make a comment on your risk assessment on battle systems. They are great. The first time I tried to order from their website the order wouldn't go through for some reason. I think it was because I'm in Ireland. I contacted them and they sorted it out very quickly and were very helpful and friendly. I then ordered core space (amazing game by the way) from a retailer and I got 2 of the same mini on the box and I was missing another. I didn't really want to send it back to the retailer as to be fair it wasn't their fault as the box was sealed and they were in England and again I'm in Ireland. I again contacted battle systems directly and explained the situation and provided pictures to show I had 2 of one hero and was missing another hero. They immediately sent on a replacement with a few extra bits. I can't say enough good things about them honestly and the products they make are excellent.
Great to discover your new channel Sam. I've always valued your thoughts, insights and material on Tabletop hub. I've been considering battle systems terrain so going to back their new Kickstarter.
Backed the original Core Space (being my first KS) was a pain free campaign and the end product was top quality. First Born was more of the same so I didn't back as there is so much in the basic CS. Maladum was an easy back based on my past experience.
Hey Sam, great video and a good balanced review. I’ll definitely check out your channel. We met at UKGE when I ran the demo game you were talking about - great to meet you and a super fun game! It was a combination of a great weapon and an event card that you’d cunningly held onto that allowed you to enter ‘god mode’ for that turn. It’s definitely not nerfed! In fact we discussed it in the playtesting forum as it’s exactly the kind of emerging narrative or cinematic moment that this game seems to do so well. Anyway - I’ll see you in the Kickstarter comments and maybe at another UKGE for a game 😊
Love your comments Actually all walls and scenary its made from durable cardboard, yes cardboard, and its super durable, being one that onwns the first CS and had use it tons and tons of times and everything still top notch, does not weirs off after so much usage A commecnt regarding Battlesystem comments during the KS, they are a mall company with great customer service and customer oriented, they try at best to answer as they can so many of the naswers you find are indeed from playtesters who have expierience in the game, and indeed one of the beuties of this game and the Sci Fi counterparts are the cinematic expiriences you create upon desitions, events, things you do, etc taht let's you talking about those things even after the game. Kudos for the video hoping you get more followers on 🤟
I think any potential backer has to consider the set up time for all that terrain. That is probably a good 20-45mins of set up time for each scenario. Are you willing to devote that set up and tear down time each time you play? and whilst most battle system terrain is easy to set up, some of it can be a bit fiddly and let’s just say I am not a fan of “hey go watch a video on TH-cam on how to set up the terrain”. I mean heck even something as fiddly as GW miniatures at the very least come with printed instructions on how to assemble the miniatures.
Hey Sam, thanks for your advise. Definetly going to back. I am a huge crawler Fan. Do you think the terrain Pack would be good for immersion? Or will the Base game do it enough by itself?
I think the base game would offer plenty although the terrain kit does look really cool. If in doubt you could go for the core pledge and see how you feel when the pledge manager opens
@@shouldyoubackit yeah, that's what I also thought and actually already did :) I'm still not really sure, how much the terrain Set would be implemented in the core game. I sure do love immersion, but I dont like big unused Boxes on my shelf :D I will go check out some deeper reviews or maybe the campaign commentsection. Thanks for your quick Response. As always a great help!
Hi Sam mate, as we sit on the cusp of Maladum fulfilment how are you feeling about it? Did you get to play the final demo version at UKGE earlier this year? I'm still excited for Maladum despite it being setback a little.
Funny I didn’t play it at the expo this year because I was like ‘ah I’ve tried it and it’s coming soon.’ Honestly still excited for it and looking forward to getting stuck in. I don’t mind the setbacks on this one, I think it went way better than they thought and that’s had a knock on effect, but looking forward to it!
Hi, appreciate the videos you do, I am going to back this as it looks great. Do you think, if I am only interested in the game and not using the terrain for anything else, that the higher tier pledge is worth it. I think I saw that they are doing some levels that include all the terrain but is it worth the extra £75?
I would say if you’re mainly interested in the game just go for that pledge, the added terrain I believe is coming to retail unless it’s otherwise stated there on the campaign
Just found your channel enjoyed your review of the Battle Systems Kickstarter, new sub here. I love Core Space really great game but I'm on the fence on this new one love the mini's that come with it they look class but is it just a reskin of Core Space or does it really play different?
To get the best answer on this, as I’ve not played Core Space and couldn’t give a full answer, they actually tackled that question in a recent update over on the campaign. Would be worth a read :)
Oh it’ll be full co-op as opposed to semi. Setup is a valid concern, it would be great to see an example of their scenarios to see if the terrain is needed on the board to play. But yeah if youre looking for something fully versus this may be a pass
Ha! "Should you back it? Yes. Let me tell you why, because my name is Sam." Definitely a justified reason why. I dont even need to watch after the 12 second mark. :) Yes, I know that's not how he meant it, but without pausing, it sounds like part of the same sentence and made me laugh.
thank you for video. i am curious why do we need another one -because by logic of your previous videos there are already so many games on market? Second , would terrain be a problem -see Descent, third edition where such complex terrain just incredibly increased time of setup ?
When you say another one, are you referring back to the Marvel United video? If so, I believe it’s contextual. In this instance I believe it is so different from Core Space that it stands apart.
My bad- I referred to saboteur game which you did not recommend because we have V-commandos available. Is this game for you look distinctly different then other dungeon crawlers?

I had said elsewhere that I think Battle Systems are a real hidden gem of a company. Genuinely hope this campaign goes incredibly well for them.

This is my first backing a Kickstarter and love Battle Systems terrain.
Backed the kick starter nearly a week ago. Kind of wish I knew of their earlier content sooner.

Curious for your thoughts on the Elder Scrolls campaign by Chip Theory Games if you've had a chance to look at it?
Love your content! Appreciate everything you do and all of your hard work for the community. I always find your videos helpful!
Thank you so much

Andy of course!! Great to hear that wasn’t nerfed 😄 I’ll have to catch you for round two at UKGE this year
Love your comments

That’s super helpful clarification, I wasn’t totally sure but as a fellow BS terrain owner it does hold up to a good bit of usage

This looks cool enough that I have started eyeballing my collection in order to make room for this one
😂
I love how versatile this game looks! For the price it’s such a good deal with all the variations of use. 😊
They have described it as two campaigns in one and it really is with the terrain and core game experience
Thanks man... for me after Core Space this is an instant back... super nice game. The price is resonable for what they offer for my point of view

Ow gosh my new favorite channel. 😩
You’re way too kind ☺️
Glad you are back
Thanks!
I'm on the fence with this one, It looks cool but I'm afraid of the setup and the fact that it looks like it is mostly solo or semi-cooperative.
Oh it’ll be full co-op as opposed to semi. Setup is a valid concern, it would be great to see an example of their scenarios to see if the terrain is needed on the board to play. But yeah if youre looking for something fully versus this may be a pass
I own previous games from Battle System, Core Space and Core Space First Born and they're awesome. Just get it, you won't be sorry.. ;)
Ha! "Should you back it? Yes. Let me tell you why, because my name is Sam." Definitely a justified reason why. I dont even need to watch after the 12 second mark. :)

In what ways is it different / better than Mordheim ?
As someone who hasn’t played Mordheim I couldn’t really answer that question :)
Mordheim is tactical skirmish, this is a coop/solo board game. Which terrain can be very well used for tactical skirmish games.. ;)
Mmh I like the terrain but since I own heroquest and I'm currently all-in for Townsfolk Tussle this is sadly a pass for me.
Oh nice! I’m taking a look at TT myself this evening, haven’t fully got my thoughts together on it yet
Not into this. Townsfolk Tussle tho I'm interested in.
Taking a look at that this evening, have you backed TT?
I missed the first one but yes.
