    7:33 Camber is... for me a bit much. Camber works, but for a cart... "Naw boy. That's just a whiskey shot or two... much." As Grandpa used to say. LOL

    Definitely build new spindles for ol gravy bones. Take care of your ride height, camber, and the tie rod mount points. You know your going to fix it, it's gonna drive ya crazy until you do!

    Consider a clear or "satin" clear coat for the kart, after you have the rust blasted off of course. Everyone always does black or red, but I'd love to see one in a raw metal look one day.

  • @romanleonard2154
    @romanleonard2154 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    Gravy bones looks so much better with the bigger tires. Does your kart need the Ackermann steering angle done to your spindles? Or is that not possible with the one tie rod linking them both together?

    • @3GingerCats
      @3GingerCats 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      it is possible, just like on any american truck with a live front axle and drag link, it's just a case of pointing the steering arms towards the centre of the rear diff

  • @nicholascervone4734
    @nicholascervone4734 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    🤔 I'm with you when it comes to the cam of the front wheels. With the speeds that you want to reach with gravy bones it might be a little too much cam but it might be perfect I would wait to see how it performs before adjusting it.

  • @chriskalomiris4377
    @chriskalomiris4377 3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

    Personally not a fan of the cambered kart. I would definitely change it. Otherwise I frickin love it !!

  • @anthonyharwin7937
    @anthonyharwin7937 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    Negative camber will hurt turn in…front end will be lazy on corner entry and since a solid rear axle means the kart relies on unloading the inside rear wheel, it will likely understeer too much. Now I realize it won’t be on pavement but the effect will be the same. Looks cool but I think you should stand em up.

  • @bryansmith5980
    @bryansmith5980 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    I would go with a little less camber. Maybe 2 or 3 degrees?

  • @harleyj3938
    @harleyj3938 3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

    I would take the camber out. The tire up grade sets the kart off! The kart looks a ton better.

  • @elesjuan
    @elesjuan 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Camber: Take 'er for a rip and see how it handles on dirt/grass/road then make your decision from there. I think it's a *bit* too much camber, but I'm just a bumblefsck armchair engineer. :)

    Hey I was just wondering about drilling and tapping a single line master cylinder to install a hydraulic brake light switch to operate brake light on a cart that I have. It looks like it has a raised section for it but, I have not been able to find anything where someone has done something like that. Is it even possible?

    I really dont expect a response but would yall at Red Beard know where i could get a go kart axle fabricated made and shipped to me? I need an exact copy of the axle i already have (except one extra key way i need added) to fit the specific wheels hubs/brake drum set up the kart i have uses and i cannot find any live axle thats even remotely similar in dimensions and length.

    I don't think you're going to like the way it handles with that much camber. I can see 1 or 2 degrees of camber being useful in some situations but straight up is probably the best bet.

    I dont really care for the camber. If it were my kart I would make it have zero camber but clock the knuckles back so the tires bite when you turn and it will want to track straight. Plus it helps take the weight off the inside rear tire when you turn. Just my two cents plus it is not my build....

  • @3GingerCats
    @3GingerCats 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Too much negative camber, pointless on rounded tyres. It'll cause problems with toe over rough ground and make you every which way but straight, best Idea is to cut the things off and replace them with a setup that corrects the height, or use 16" tyres and flip them back the right way up (that's what I would do)

  • @robc7812
    @robc7812 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    that camber on a dirt kart not really going to help if anything its giving you less tire on the ground.. plus will wear the inside edge on any type of hard surface

  • @kenjohnson5498
    @kenjohnson5498 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    straighten the wheels

  • @willieshaw2522
    @willieshaw2522 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    Set for 1-2* neg camber MAX - I prefer 0 -1* pos camber for handling and looks. Not a fan of changing the angle built into the spindle to change camber - this can make the tire follow an odd arc in turns if there is also camber built into the spindle bracket.

    What I think you should do is straighten up those pipes that the wheels are on triangulated so what has strength and make the wheels camber correct also I think you should put some kind of front suspension on this thing if it's really fast that's going to keep you from damaging the frame the frame will absorb the shock if you have no suspension you've got to put some kind of front suspension on that thing it's if it's fast good luck man God bless Happy Thanksgiving and may Jesus bless you and all your endeavors peace out into the world have a great day

  • @robertschreier345

    Loose the camber. It is way to much. A little resource on how different kingpin angles can make the tires dig in on corners but just to run it like that just looks stupid in my opinion. Ground contact patch is way too small and basically on the inner shoulder of your tires. Tire life is down the toilet that way.

    Looks like alot of camber and toe 😑

  • @NotMeeither
    @NotMeeither 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    The camber looks just as stupid on that as it does on everything else that has had it set like that !
    That being said since the camber is from flipping the spindles it will do just the opposite of what kingpin angle does , it will unload the inside tire in turns instead of loading it.
    So for looks get rid of it , for handling get rid of it and for safety get rid of it !

  • @FJ80Coop
    @FJ80Coop 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    That camber is useless other than causing sketchy handling and accelerating tire wear.. It's too extreme to gain any traction in any terain or pavement...1degree negative or less maximum will net you maximum traction due to maximum tread footprint during cornering on dirt or pavement... Unless you're in Japan,Korea,or Thailand where it's a fashion statement and considered cool by the ricers then that is redonkulous without an articulating suspension... Looks as todded as the Gayolina squat too but hey wouldn't hurt anyone snowflakes feelers with the truth or facts yanno...😐
