I've learned so much from you in the past couple hours. I never really use a lot of makeup before because I don't know how to mix and match colors, until just recently I started to watch TH-cam and discovered so many inspiration makeup tutorials and fall in love with all the different looks that you can create, I'm in a learning process and all of your tutorial that I've been watching in the last couple of hours are very very educational for me, I had learned so much from you. I owe quite many eyeshadow palates which had not been used because I don't know how to, I just bought them because they're so pretty and I love all the different shades from neutral to dramatic and all the light to the very bright colors. Please keep posting all the educational videos like this, I never get tired watching them. Thank you for all the tips and lessons, I really appreciate all your time and effort :))))
I have been using liquid foundation forever. And I have always used a sponge. Since the sponge soaked up so much, I just CAKED it on and I am recently so sick of my face being so oily because of all the foundation - This helped me so much. Thank you!!
@stockham definitely! Thats what bronzer is - Not to TAN but just to warm the face with a nice glow. So use a little bronzer to warm it up.
@simsukh No. You use the setting spray after you've completed your liquid foundation and powder. Then you use the fixing spray after you've completed all your face makeup (bronzer, blush, highlight, etc).
ive done everything: brushes, beauty blender...
i find applying with fingers gives the best natural coverage if u use the right techniques, brushes & sponges cant even compete. im an artist.
the liquid for airbrush is the best by far & u can apply with fingers

Just a heads-up on the drugstore makeup situation - my local Rite-Aid doesn't let you swatch, but they DO let you return a makeup product for exchange or refund if the color turns out to be wrong for you. If you don't have a Rite-Aid in your area, it couldn't hurt to ask at your favorite drugstores. Good luck!

@CarolineStanton if you use a universal foundation brush - yes like I mentioned in the video. Not with duo fibers as it pixelizes instead of brushes.
@michman27 no, liquid foundation needs powder to set - fix plus will make the foundation slip and fade if applied without the foundation being set first.
@anhphan to set powders you apply a setting spray, then apply a fixing/finishing spray; in that order. you can either spray them directly on your face or spray it on your brush and stipple it on to your face.
Thank you for this video because many beauty gurus on youtube are doing it incorrectly even with the powder part is a great improvement. I notice a big difference and use less products which is fab. Very pleased with your tutorials as usual :D
I always see gurus using this type of brush yet it never worked for me, but you are the only one I see using water on the brush so that will probably help a bunch, thanks!
Thank you so much for this tutorial, especially the tip about the refresher spray on the brush. I always was annoyed by the fact the foundation dried quiet fast, but now I use Evian on the brush before and in between, and it really works!!! I was truly amazed by the difference :D

@Trayceg yes clear or invisible powder is ideal. MUFE HD powder disappears on any skin tone.
Ulta and Ulta.com will allow you to return the product even if it's been opened if it does not work for you. They also have testers to swatch on certain brands depending on if the brand gives it to them.
@kyleedeebeautee08 u can use bottled water or filtered water. Not tap water. MAC charged water is ionized water.
Here in sweden there are test for drugstore foundations, so you are able to swatch them. Good!!!
Walgreens allow costumers to return makeup products, no questions asked. I had to return some lip liners.
By the way, Revlon Color stay has a great shade selection. That is one of my most favorite liquid foundations. I highly recommend it.

i love revlon colorstay foundation for oily skin because its the only thing that helps my oily skin a little
If anyone is looking for drugstores that will let you return opened & used makeup, then CVS and Walgreens allow it. Some Targets do, but I don't think all of them do. I always check first before I buy just to be sure.

most drugstore in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia where i live allow swatching of products. companies like Maybelline, Revlon or Loreal put out testers so you can try them on before purchasing :)
I didn't read all the comments so this may have been posted, in my area Ulta stores have testers for most drugstore foundations. Also, most drugstores accept returns on opened makeup as well. I've returned to Target, WalMart, Walgreen's, and CVS. HTH

in the UK all the drugstores: superdrug, boots etc have samples of foundation and any makeup in most colours.
in new york , i've seen cvs with open samples for people to swatch. But that is on occasions with a new release of a product.

@mardel3 yes you always match the neck - or else your face looks masked cuz it doesnt match the rest of your coloring. Or, TAN your neck to match your tanned face. One way or another always go by your neck coloring.

This is my first time commenting on a vid. I rarely used makeup but turned 39 and my skin is not what it used to be. Problem is i dont onow how to apply make up and have been learning on youtube for past months. This video is so basic and its exactly what i needed. Thanks.
I'm in South Florida, and I have returned foundations to Walgreens if it didn't work for me. You just need to do it within 30 days and bring the receipt. They're pretty good about their return policy. It is printed on the back of the receipt.
All CVS and Walgreens allow returns on all cosmetics, even if they are opened and used! :) So you can always return if it's not right for you!
Your vegan syntethic duo-fibre brushes are my favorites, I have many of them and use them all the time. The stiple&swirl is the best ever! :) Thank you for offering these in your store!
@NaoiseLove no you can't. fix + is a fixing spray that is for setting make-up not for refreshing or prepairing , it will make application difficult and more likley to come off faster throught the day

at london drugs there are assistants who can help swatch products if u want to and find your shade for you at the cosmetics partment

i have been wearing liquid foundation for 10 yrs and i didnt realize until last week that i was using way too much product. i had a private lesson with a mac artist and she had her foundations in those little paint holders from the craft store. i couldnt believe how little product she used to cover my whole face and neck!

@jazminnnnxx don't exfoliate as much :) it's just tearing the skin if your using a beady exfoliant... do it only once a week
if you swirl with your fingers it doesn't look any different! i prefer stippling with an angled blush brush and blend with fingers :D it thins out the foundation and blends into the skin beautifully!

in the uk, you can swatch everything in the drugstores (except eye/lip liners) :)

where i live you can try foundation at Rite Aid and if it don't match you can bring it back and switch it out for another or get ur money back....you can also do this with any makeup products there!

cvs accepts all beauty returns.
some cvs's also have a beauty advisor, and if you ask them, they can swatch it for you.
@BarbieLovesMakeup1 I primed the whole face with primer, then used the porefessional on large pore areas.
@frenchtink88 if it works for you and you get a nice finish - go for it.
At CVS you can return your used makeup (open & unopened) for a full refund or exchange. They also give many coupons on many makeup brands if you register for their Extra Care card. I highly recommend CVS for all makeup purchases!

I live in Norway (in Europe) and here we can try drugstore products before buying it! There are samples for every products! The products are not in a sealed cardbord! But you can not return a used product in Norway or get your monet back! You can return it and get your money back, as long as it`s not opend.

I got a Smashbox primer kit w/the small face primer, target primer, and eye primer from Ulta for $18.
i believe cvs lets you return opened makeup. so you can buy the colors that seem to match and try them out at home, returning the ones that don't work out.
@Bubblegum4289 well MACs uses goat hair, miner are synthetic - better for liquids and creams.
The tip about matching foundation with your neck shocked me. I've never heard anyone give this tip. Koren, could you comment on maybe where this (matching foundation to the face) came from, plus do you feel as a makeup artist that this is a bad way all the time to pick foundation? I ask because many are doing it and it appears to look good. In your industry do you ever seen other makeup artists go by the face to pick foundation colors? Thank you so much for all the videos.
I dont know why but im totally on liquid Foundation and mostly used a sponge, when I first used one of this stipplin brushes and the Method you talked about in a other Vid. I was like WUOW ;o) ... bam bam done great ... I think thats really best Method to aply liquid ... and btw. in Germany you can swatch Produkts in every Drugstore ! You can buy Chanel an Lancaster and things Makeup in drugstores I mean they have to !

@lorepaisa Fingerprints can happen with thicker foundation consistencies when you press the color into your skin. You would do that when you have a foundation that is meant to be buildable and you don't blend it out. That's something that middle school girls do all the time. Plus, if you're conserving product like he's showing you, you won't spend a lot of money. Duo fiber brushes can cost a lot or not that much depending on where you get them. Lern2makeup, n00btastic.

hey Koren, I know u love brushes just like I do, so I wonder have u heard of this brush called the TourQuam by Darac Beauty. I bought their med sized brush for $40 last year and I looooove this awesome brush. They also have the full size TourQuam 3D face sculpting brush for $75, but it has been sold out for months now. They cant seem to keep it in stock. I collect many unique and awesome brushes, I have just about everyones brushes but this one has me in awe, its THE softest brush ever.
@JESSICALOVESMAC917 mix your sunblock with moisturizer and apply on at least 15-20 mins before foundation.

@TheSkydiveGirl NYX All Nighter Spray, Makeup Forever Mist - most other brands have setting spray.
if you go to certain longs locations in hawaii, they have samples that you can swatch.
unfortunately, im not sure about any of them outside of HI. sorry!

I was just wondering if you would suggest to also use a stippling brush with tinted moisturizer
@kassi90 the black ones are there to help the white ones stand up. without the black ones the white bristles wouldn't have enough resistance and they'd just be a flimsy mess :)
@WhenCatsBark I believe that you need to match your neck color, because if it doesn't match, the foundation is going to look like a mask when you put it on...and if you have a foundation that doesnt match the neck, you have to take the foundation down the neck too, so ir doesnt look fake. Hope this helps,and excuse my bad english lol
i usually massage the foundation into my skin and let it set in then use a damp sponge and do a stippling effect to even it out because where i live you cant get good brushes anywhere ! so you can only order online :/

Harmons takes return and exchanges on makeup. I have returned foundation and exchanges. I know they are in the east coast and they are starting to open in the midwest in Bed Bath and Beyond store. Hope that helps. :)
