Thanks for Watching!!! - ยานยนต์และพาหนะ
That was a good comparison between the Deere and the Oliver of the same vintage. It is pretty striking how much more stylish and ahead of the curve that Oliver was with their tractors back then. It's a real shame that they couldn't have continued on to present day.
You can blame White for Oliver not continuing to today. If Oliver had not accepted the offer from White, I feel that Oliver would surpass all the other brands out on the market today. Well, except for Big Buds, those are making a come back. Cheers :)
I’m kinda at the age I’d be more likely to go for the 3-6 than the 2-4… the 1-5 is out of the question!
🤣🤣🤣
good to see your getting your grandpa ole Deere painted up looking good
Great video as usual and you even had a live audience, I could hear the birds in the background, lol. You're making headway buddy, and I appreciate the videos. Entertaining and educational, see you soon.
🤣 Thanks Jonathan!
Hi Ross how are you .Your Grandads John Deere is looking good .And like a Deer it suppose to run like a Deere as long as they stay out of your grill to 😂😂🤣🤣🤣.I love Blazzing saddles to and Air Plane and Vacation with Chavey Chase and History of the World with Mel Brooks they are hilarious 😂😂😂🤣🤣🤣
🤣🤣🤣 thanks for watching!!
I understand the allure for the Deere guys on the old 2 cyl tractors, but for practical use, I just would prefer something with a foot clutch.
White River Valley Antique Assn is featuring Oliver’s this year Sept 7-11 Elnora In
Cool!
Nice straight 70
Thanks John!
Well, you'll have some nice stuff to take to the fair. Nice job!
Thanks Charlie!
The last set of spark plug wires I did they didn't send the grease either so I had to improvise. I had about the same success that you did 😆 🤣
I’m glad it’s not just me 🤣
Thanks, learned something new on removing a broken tap!
Glad to help! Thanks Craig!
Kinda-sorta running is better than dead in the water!!!
So true! Thanks Don!
As always great video.
Thanks Keith!
Industrial ovens and furnaces use solid core wire you can buy in rolls
Cool. Thanks Dave!
My family had Allis Chalmers but I do like the Oliver's the more I see them. I always think it would be neat if Agco would bring them back but probably won't ever happen.
Boy that John Deere B sure is looking sharp. You are correct in comparison between the B and the Oliver. It's a wonder Deere sold many with that more outdated design. I always heard Deere had more dealers and had plenty of tractors on the lot is why they sold. It would be interesting to hear your grandpa's take on why the Deere was purchased over an Oliver or Farmall? How much difference in price also would be interesting? It would be interesting also to compare a 77 to a 70 to see the differences. You got my brain thinking on these old tractors if I lived in those times.
I think a lot of the sales had to do with the price. Old timers were cheap. They wouldn’t spend an extra dollar if they didn’t have to.
Saw 2 restored 60's today. Should have been 2 MM U's!
That is the first aluminum part I have ever heard of on a 2 cylinder John Deere.
I’m no expert so it’s a new one on me
Ross, time to buy a 100’ roll of 7mm wire and make your own. 👍
Good idea!!
Ross. you've got nice toys like Chris. You need somebody to help you drive them.😂
Thanks Millard!!
Sad to hear Orschelon is no more. Another store I enjoyed going in and I would buy a years supply of furnace filters for 50 cents a piece there.
Adjusting to TSC is going to be rough. Atwood’s buys from the same distributor as Orschelns did if they’re in your area… and their prices are decent.
Enjoy watching you work on these old olivers
Thanks Dennis!
Great old tractor, thanks for sharing 👍💨💨
Thanks Darren!
Didn’t know you can beat a tap to pieces. Good tip thanks.
Thanks for watching!
Ross nice to see that you are getting things done on the tractors. Thanks Michael
Thanks Michael!
Always love when you work on both brand of my two favorite tractors.
Thanks Tom!
Another good video Ross you sure have plenty projects to get on with
Thanks Stephen!
Grew up around my grandfather's 77 and my great grandfather s JD A. The 77 was definitely more modern, quieter, easier for doing chores and playing around. It also had live pto , lighter steering, and felt more nimble. But spending a day pulling a drill or doing heavy work the Deere did have it's virtues.
For future wire projects that are complicated like that one you can buy bulk rolls of spark plug wire and ends from race car supply places or websites. It’s fairly reasonable and you then have any length option you need.
I need to do that. Thanks Duane!
Great video. Nice to see the john deere and the 70 coming around. When you get them done, you will have 2 nice pieces to take to the fair. Was great to see the improvements you made to them both. Thanks for sharing.
the old number 6 lol
🤣🤣🤣
👍👍
Thanks!
The "70" still runs great. PB Blaster has a dry silicon spray that works great on plug wires and other stuff. Just a thought. JD is shaping up nicely. Great video ! Hey to Buddy. Be safe
A cow turd is more refined than a John Deere! 😂😂😂
🤣🤣🤣
My father inlaw is one of thoe brand loyal guys red or green hates Oliver's. Me I love them all. Every mfg. made lemons and diamonds. Oliver must have been quite a bit more $$ . I can't imagine coming back from ww2 and picking a M farmall or A JD over a 77. Feature wise it doesn't make sense to me. Had to be $$. We compared the red and green choices he had to admit I was right. But still preferred the M or A
I think it had a lot to do with the dealerships or lack there of. They had dealers in the Midwest but not much elsewhere, I think if they would have been nation wide it would have helped them sell better. But that is just my opinion.
I would say the dealerships that were close by and also the price difference is probably what made the sale.
In the short term, maybe loosen the radiator cap to relieve the pressure, for brief periods of run time. I might be wrong, but it's worth a shot.
Well the choice on the B is either take the pedistal apart and put new seals in or cornhead grease which was what I chose. They are supposed to use 90 W gear oil. I usually order plug wires from Brillman.
Thanks!!
U need longer plug wires 292 Ford engine has longer left side are lot longer u can try that
That’s a good tip! Thanks Donald!!
Yippie!
Thanks for watching!
👍
Huh I thought the fenders on the B you found later, its kinda neat that they are original to the tractor👍Its funny how antique the b looks compared to the 66, and I think a Farmall H would fall in between them, and I'm a red guy😮
Hi Ross I dicited take Oliver 70 haven’t ran in years I have remove rat home
Hopefully wires anything else not eat up I get it free
Cool! Hopefully it goes easy for you
🚜👨🔧👍👍
Thanks Tom!
I've never cared for those "round" fenders on the lettered JD's. Flat top fenders or none at all for me.
Sorry Ross, I never listen to anyone, I'll fall flat on my face anytime I wants to. LOL
When you do the head gasket, take the head in to have the valves reground, same with the valve guides, saves you a lot of time, not necessarily money but, at least you know that much is done.
#70 needs some more help. Wires sure helped.
Thanks!
We need a go fund me for a shirt
🤣🤣🤣
I think once you get the decals on you won’t notice the imperfections as much. Honestly I think it looks good Ross. Got to quit being so critical of yourself. You do well
I have my grandfather's Oliver 70 that I'd like to restore. Is there a good source of engine overhaul components that you recommend?
Hey Ross, can you get a roll of uncut plug wire and cut them to length?
I’m sure I can. I just need to investigate where to get it. Thanks Mike!
What painting methods do you use? I want to do my 77
Just depends. I’m not very patient so lately I’ve just been painting one section at a time.
@@rosstheoliverman thats what ive been doing to, im uploading a update video on it now
If you need more than 10 rounds to hunt, and some argue they hunt with that many rounds, you shouldn't be hunting. If you can't get the deer in 3 shots, you shouldn't be hunting. You are an embarrassment
HELL YA NEW PAINT!!!! 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
Thanks Paul!
