Nice review. I agree: I’m coming up on four years of ownership of my 987 2.7 Cayman; I love it. As fast as you could want on public roads and feels great to drive. I’m not selling mine, ever.
Thank you! I Agree, I sold mine after four years, want to try other cars but I could definitely see myself buy a cayman in the future again. Much car for that price!
I have enjoyed some entertaining cars, but this is the best car I can imagine: they will have to tear it from my cold, dead hands. I bought it to mark surviving a heart attack.
I have a 2007 987 base and it is great (3 years). My son tracks the car and it is great. I also have a 911 and a Cayenne but have to say the Cayman is amazing and prefer the looks to the new bloated 911s. My Cayman has been 100% reliable. If you get one, definitely take it for a track day, what it lacks in power it makes up in handling on a track...
I have the 2008 model. Fantastic in the corners,. You're right it's not the fastest car, but at 5500 to 6000 rpm's in 2nd and 3rd, the car is a jack rabbit. Love it!
Many years ago I drove Porsches (924, 928, 928S and 944's) as daily drivers. I had only 1 or 2 cars at that time and so those Porsches really got to get used. My 987 Cayman S now is one out of ten(!) cars and the lesson I've learned the hard way is that you definitely want to use your Porsche as a daily driver. Nothing is more detrimental to a Porsche than just using it occasionally! I also got a 2008 Cayenne Turbo and as long as I drive it at least every other day it doesn't cause me any problems at all. Once I let it sit for 2-3 weeks, it will cost me anotther 1,000 Euros in repairs. Some sensor might be pissed or whatever... And whatever it is... You gotta keep a 1,000 Euros handy... I am 100% convinced that my Cayman S and also my Cayenne Turbo would work just fine as daily drivers since that's my experience whenever I used them as dailys... Unfortunately I'm a car-hoarder and therefore I got way too many cars. But if I owned only one or two cars and one of them would be a Cayman, it would be totaööy fine as a daily.
You look tall, do you fit ok and have enough room in the pedals? I'm looking at 987s and I'm 6'4". I find the cabin roomy enough but the footwell is a bit tight.
I’m 190 cm = 6'2.8. The car is fine for me, no problems, but I had the seat all the way back, no problems around the pedals. If you are 6’4 I think it should be fine as well. You should go and test drive one! 😃
@@Michael_Odelberth Cayman 987.1 engines are either 2.7L (for the base) or 3.4L (for the S model). Correspondingly, Cayman 987.2 engines are either 2.9L or 3.4L DFI engines. Event the 986 Boxster doesn't have a 2.4L engine.
Haha you are right. It’s a 2.7L engine. I said wrong in the video, my bad. Some people has pointed it out in the comment section before! But that’s just good! Do you own a cayman as well?
@@Michael_Odelberth yeah, I own a 2008 987.1 cayman S. Surprisingly, the gas mileage and the maintenance cost are very reasonable for such a sports car. Fingers crossed that I haven't run across any of the common 987.1 problems yet; no IMS, no RMS, no AOS, no bore scoring problem yet. Just the scheduled maintenance so far.

I have owned my 2.9 cayman 987 second Gen for 4 years now and I still enjoy driving it every time I get in it . They are simply fantastic cars .

fast enough to get busted doing 85 in a 55! that hurt!
😄👍
I can only agree, have 987.2 base modell. What brings you to sell it?
It was time for something new. I bought a panamera after I sold this one :)

which cayman has a 2.4L engine? None, as far as I know.

4 years of ownership and you don't know what engine it has?
Do you know?

It’s 2.7L
You are correct! Thank you
It’s a 2.7 liter
You are 100% correct. You are also the third person saying that. I was wrong - my bad 😄
The price on these year cayman and boxster are increasing saw one for $30000
One more reason to buy one! ;)
You lost me at 2.4L hahaha
If u r going to review car, at least get the fact straight.
Appreciate the comment. It helps the algorithm. Thanks dude!
People misspeak sometimes, plus Im guessing english isn't his first language. Give the guy a break. Jeez man, you "correct police" are insane.
Any problems with bore strock?
No problems at all during the whole time of owning it
It’s 2.7
No
