Hello everyone...I've been to Canada, and back in South Africa, a failed immigrant,I'm a finance professional. The country is inviting thousands especially from the subcontinent so they bring and burn all their savings in Canada. Its not about how hard it is or how quickly you can get into Canada. Its about what you will do there. There are simply not enough jobs for skilled educated workers , its ok for meat cutters and other blue collar jobs who have nothing to lose, but not for qualified professionals. It's a harsh, unwelcoming country where Ex professionals from India end up driving taxis. My advice...if you are a professional degreed worker in India, Please do NOT move to Canada unless you have a confirmed job offer or have done your research. Do your math about salary vs. Living expenses. Good luck. Don't jump into a lake if you can't swim...

Just so you know, there is no American dream anymore. That is just bullshit to keep the salaried stiffs hopeful that they too may one day succeed in the US of A. This lie has been eroded over the years so much that many people in the US recognize it for what it is - a lie.
      www.theguardian.com/inequality/2017/jun/20/is-the-american-dream-really-dead
In fact, this generation is far worse off than their grandparents were.
You have this ever increasing wealth inequality gap and millions of people living from paycheque to paycheque, not knowing if they lose their job how will they get medical coverage?
Canada has many entrepreneurs who make money by selling into the US market. So obviously your entrepreneurs are leaving many gaps in your market that Canadians do exploit.
Your very question underscores how indoctrinated you are to something that doesn't exist anymore.

@@hardeepbabhauri7379 it all depends on your perspective, like what you consider important in your life. For you it may be important to meet all basic needs of life and be happy even if that means being alone or away from people you care. If that makes you happy, it is fine.
The whole point is if people find happiness by going abroad. You may feel happy this way.
But for some people, they may think differently, they may consider having one meal with people who care for you better than having two meals sitting alone somewhere.
That is why you will see even rich people who have no money problems, yet still suffer from depression. Cos they lack the feeling of belonging to somewhere, and feel empty inside.

Canadians sometimes asked me why I moved to Canada and I realized what they want to hear - they were chasing compliments such as: Canada has fresh air and freedom. So this is what I would answer them:
    - I love the climate, I couldn’t get enough of the cold
    - I dislike efficiency and effective execution of infrastructure construction
    - I enjoy passive aggressive attitudes at work
    - It’s so amazing to be surrounded by so many people in different backgrounds who secretly hate each other
    - I love being stuck on either TTC or hwy401 every single day, it makes me feel so calm
    - Air Canada is the best airline in the world, they are just as good as Chinese restaurants because there is no customer service
    - Why do you have to pay $10 for unlimited phone data when you have Bell, Rogers, Telus, that give you the most expensive phone plan in the world? They are the best!
    - Oh you know what my fav season is? Tax season! So I can eventually contribute half of my salary to the politicians who don’t even know how to spend it

Going back is not a option for me. I have spent so much money and time to survive here. Canada is just a beautiful picture. Canada markets itself very well but reality is different. Canadian immigration invites highly skilled and educated people , but there are not many job opportunities. Most immigrants end up working a lowest wage jobs.

      - Canadians hate an immigrant who in few years of living in Canada is doing better than they are . ( that has a lot to do with intelligence )

"patriotic " way) will inform that if you don't like the Canadian way then " you can go back where you came from .

Igor thank you very much for this honest informative video. I went to Ontario back in 2015 for a vacation trip with my family for a week. We did enjoy our vacation and I think it's a beautiful country to visit at least once in a life time. I agree with all what you've mentioned in your video. I noticed that people in Canada were so distant from each other when it comes to socializing and daily interaction. I felt life was tasteless if I were going to live in such country. There is no real culture or meaningful life except working hard for long hours, earn/spend money and pay taxes. Also you mentioned a valid points regarding raising your children in a society where the gov intervene in your personal and family life, which is one of the worse things I can imagine in case my way of life or beliefs wasn't Canadian enough to be part of its society. I also noticed no body where in the streets during the evening, even though it was summer time. I assume in winter there will be no sign of life in the streets due to the frozen weather. I hold a US & Saudi passports, but I live in Saudi Arabia. My wife and parents didn't want to live in the US, so we lived and raised our kids here in S Arabia. I have lived in other countries in Europe and Asia for both education and work during the last 25 years. But Canada is surely out of my list when it comes to living there for any reason. Consider me a new subscriber. Thanks

Everything else aside, you really need to be aware of how the climate here can seriously affect your mood -especially if you're from a country that gets more sunlight (closer to the equator). And its not just a mental thing either, the vitamin D and melatonin levels will be different here and that physically affects your body. Its important to spend time outdoors even in the winter (in spite of the cold), the sun is at a low angle and the amount of vitamin D it causes you to produce is reduced. This can affect both your mood and your physical health and immune system. Combined with the bitter cold this can be a recipe for depression and sickness. You might want to take Vitamin D supplemements or eat a diet rich in vitamin D , as well as getting a full spectrum mood light to help you make it through your first few winters.

Every culture is different and I know that living here in Ottawa and seeing the different cultures and it is upsetting and degrading to we Canadians to hear how foreign people will hurt us but don't hurt them back. This is their crazy mentality. One Arab/Muslim man was severely beaten in Toronto just the other day and is fighting for his life because he confronted two thugs who were harassing him and his family after they left a picnic. These people should never have confronted the thugs and should have had a cell phone on them and called the police instead. Today the man is in grave danger and it will take many months to start to recouperate. People from other countries don't understand the ways and no matter where you live in any country don't confront anyone - you don't know who is who and what they will do - just walk away. Your life and well being is more important than to deal with the thugs.

The Canadian government put forth a motion (M-103) calling on the government to condemn "islamophobia" but in their travel advisory guide they advise us not to travel to or exercise extreme caution (often citing terrorism) when traveling to just about every muslim majority country (actually might even EVERY muslim majority country as I haven't come across one which doesn't have these warnings) yet they don't have such warnings for just about every country which doesn't have a muslim majority. Are they guilty of what they put for the motion (M-103) for?
It doesn't take a rocket scientist to connect the dots...
Quran (2:216) Fighting is prescribed for you, and ye dislike it, but it is possible that you dislike a thing which is good for you, and love a thing which is bad for you. But Allah knoweth, and ye know not"

Brett, maybe you should look up the defamation/libel laws in this country. You can say something truthful about someone and they can still sue you for defamation. You have to prove that your intent was not to harm the person's reputation and you are guilty before ruled innocent. On this premise alone, there is no free speech in Canada. And that's before you start getting into these gender laws that we're starting to put in now.
You might get away with it, but that means nothing when the laws are in the books.

If in the future, said meaning of statement has changed due to language fluidity and is deemed offensive, you will be held accountable for your actions. Igor is correct Canadians mostly wear a mask that smiles, cheers but who knows what's going on down there. Plus I discovered the Canadian educational system is highly corrupted. All the values and respects go to the undergrad kids who pay tuition fees. No awards for International students and no matter how competitive and hard working you are, you'll never compete with a Canadian student because the priority is always with her/him.

I really love Canada and all, It's a beautiful country but I do agree with everything he said. It's quite accurate. Unless you're coming here with lots of money in your bank account and you don't need to work. But if you are already well off in your country and peace and order is not an issue. I don't recommend migrating here, otherwise you'll experience the same frustrations. Another thing that he didn't mention is, you can't practice your profession once you move here, you need to go back to school to do some upgrades + you need to pass your licensure exam. I think that's common frustrations among professional immigrants. You can be a doctor in your country but you'll be nobody here unless you get your license. Most Canadians are polite but racism here is also prevalent especially if you are a person of colour.

    • @TheJules1003
      @TheJules1003 6 ปีที่แล้ว +5

People who are well off in their own country do not migrate to another unless it has to do with a certain profession, or you are transferred to a job by your company or some sort of a reason. You don't go and spend all of your money to come here or anywhere and end up disappointed and broke. There is no magic rainbow anywhere nor a pot of gold and many die trying. Live with the realities of life. Canada is very very expensive especially Vancouver and Toronto. I as a Canadian could not afford those cities even where we live now in Ottawa. Live with reality and life is mighty short and be happy. I almost lost my husband this winter to pneumonia and sepsis and he was never sick before. We got my husband by the paramedics to the hospital just in time or he would have died.

Flav C the same thing happened to my husband. My husband studied computer programming in his native Lebanon and when he came to Canada his degree meant nothing at all. We later threw all of his studies down the garbage shute - all gone for nothing. Many educated people do not stay in Canada nor the US at all and go back home. Canada is for what they call in French LES DEMUNIES the very poor who have nothing at all. Good and educated people do not come to Canada nor the US and yes racism is very prevalent and we went through it (my husband and I) and we stay far away from the public and want nothing to do with them. I am telling all of you the truth from my hear and soul. My husband has been fed up with Canada from the beginning.

Moved to Toronto area in October 2006, from O.C. California with Canadian husband.
Relocated to Atlanta area in July 2008, ........... SEVERAL THOUSAND DOLLARS POORER!
    WTF was I thinking!!!
And for those of you who rave about Canada’s awesome free healthcare, .... it ain’t. You pay for it in massive taxation and dismissive healthcare unprofessionals who don’t seem to give a damn about you or your health. They just want to bill the government by scheduling your annual physical in 3 or 4 separate appointments which can be spread out over a several weeks period.
And after all of that, they won’t even give you any test results, answer any questions, and you will receive absolutely nothing in writing.
Thanks goodness I moved back over the border because, later that year my new doctor diagnosed me with MS.
I’d been having symptoms for months (exacerbated by ungodly cold weather), but my Canadian doctor (which took a year to acquire) didn’t pay me any attention and got upset with me when I told him that I thought that he was being dismissive and not uncaring. And in Canada you can’t just go to another doctor if the one you have isn’t a good match.
You’re SCREWED because their aren’t any other doctors to go to.
Mine was an hour and a half away from my home, ..... each way!
Canada is a great country for 3rd or 2nd world immigrants, but if you come fr Europe or the U.S., DO NOT MOVE TO CANADA!
It’s a MASSIVE STEP DOWN IN QUALITY OF LIFE!!!
And I won’t even go into the unbelievably sky high taxes, prices, lack of choices for consumers, expensive services, laughable and ramped ANTI-AMERICANISM, the great Canadian inferiority complex, and I’ve never ever seen or even heard of an ENTIRE NATION SO COMPLETELY POSSESSED BY PASSIVE- AGGRESSION!!

Igor is right. It is the same in the US. We have an extremely hard time to accumulating wealth in the Americas PERIOD. I want to suggest something for everyone who wants to immigrate to the US, Canada, or Mexico (Or all 3). Tip number 1 - Save the living crap out of your money. When I say save I mean SAVE. After you pay for necessities (e.g., rent, bills, food, phone, car payment, fuel [IN THAT ORDER]) then save what is left over. Beer/Alcohol is not a necessity, tobacco is not a necessity, TV/Games/Other Electronic Entertainment is NOT a necessity. The reason I say this is because all you need is a place to live, electricity/gas, food, a way to contact your employer or customers - depending on your personal situation - a vehicle to get around (but, in Canada their is an awesome public transportation system, from what I understand), and fuel for your vehicle. You do not need the newest Call of Duty game. Save what is left over. I save about $1000.00 USD per month (that's $12,000.00 per year) and I invest half of that. If you do that all the time. Then you will begin accumulating wealth within the first 5 to 10 years of your life here in the Americas. I promise. Work hard, save your money, build your wealth. Life will be great for you here.

    • @amerikanviking
      @amerikanviking 6 ปีที่แล้ว +9

8 lives I used to say the same thing until I figured it out. I hung out with wealthy people from where I am. I learned to think like them. Everything I said is exactly how they did it. How I did it. Hard work, determination, goal setting, education, PROPER MONEY USAGE, these are the things you must do before becoming wealthy. It is not easier said than done. It's actually the opposite. Why? Because people do not understand this anymore. Igor is right. It is hard. But, it can be done by anyone. Change your way of thought. The biggest reason I want to move to Canada is because of the way things are there. I have a great life and a good amount of money. Definitely more than most. And when I say that education portion. I mean it. You don't have to attend a university. You just have to READ and learn the right things. Read my comment again. I am not talking about people working at McDonald's or similar. I am talking about entrepreneurial, career-minded, goal setting people. If you think that is too hard and "easier said than done". You will never get there bucko. :) Take this with a grain of salt. I hope you have a great day. Thank you for your comment on mine. I appreciate it. Discourse is good. 👍
Ih! One more thing. You don't have to have a new care or a house. Wait until you have enough money not to draw in too much debt. I drove a 2001 Dodge Ram 1500 that was beat all to crap for 6 years. I saved my money and ran my own business from my rental house. I then invested my money to grow it. Do that. Trust me. It works.

It's the Persian kids in Canada that are mostly arrogant. We moved here 5 months ago and are leaving 6 months early to return to our home country (USA) because it sucks so bad here! Every single point he made has happened to us since we have been here. 1850$ a month for a one bedroom apartment, 100$ out of pocket 10 minute "doctor visits", absolutely nothing to do. Going out to eat is the only "fun" thing to do here, most people are not friendly and hardly anyone socializes, TERRIBLE DRIVERS, rude immigration officers that dont make you feel welcome in this country (because unless you're born Canadian, they really do not want you here.) They make it impossible to find work and be successful regardless of your status in the US. We have had some positive experiences but mostly negative. We were really looking forward to starting over here but it seems its only hurting us at this point rather than helping us. OH AND YOU HAVE TO PAY TO GO TO MOST PUBLIC PARKS TO GO FOR WALKS. Someone always pays and Canadians face astronomical taxes in every other part of life to pay for that "free" healthcare, which is not very good quality. As he said and is always the case with socialized medicine, the quality suffers and the waits are LONG, particularly to see a specialist which can take many months. But what more should anyone expect when government is the sole provider of healthcare, and we know how government screws everything else up, too?
It's the same way with the socialized National Health Service in the UK. Many years ago I had friends who were in a head-on car crash in England. Of the family of four, the father and his eldest son were critically injured. As Americans, they spent several weeks under the NHS in a British hospital, experiencing the rationing of pain medication, lack of attention, and other drawbacks of socialized medicine firsthand. As soon as the father was able to fly, they made arrangements to get him back to a hospital in the U.S. They had to fly him flat on his back, but he wanted OUT of the socialized medical system that badly. I also work for a physician who sees a lot of Canadian patients crossing the border.

I’m gonna buy a small mobile home and a reliable car cash, and pray that the cold, work, and the newness of my surroundings can trump the hollowness I feel inside. Nowhere else wanted to look for a job for me and help me become a citizen in two years; not Bulgaria, not St. Vincent, not Dominica. Canada offered to help me. This is the only option that I have left. I read all the complaints down to the end and I must say they were daunting. But, nothing here in Trinidad and nowhere else offers me a new beginning but Canada. I have been hurting for the past two years since my husband left in 2017, the chance to relocate to Canada is the only thing that made me wake up with a hopeful feeling. Lots of good parts here but also lots of bad things. I will agree with all you said - being from the same part of the world as you Igor, I understand very well what you are saying.
My main discomfort if medicine where you know you are not ok and going to see a doctor and he or she is telling you you are ok if your blood work turns normal, not even mentioning the ridiculous wait times to see a specialist or get in to an emergency room. They are all like trained machines, there is no compassion for people or preventive medicine whatsoever.
Loneliness, diferent mentality, the lack of esthetics in a form of pretty women on streets or art is something that makes me sad and miss my home.
Lots of feministic terminators who don’t give a chance to men to be gentlemen and do some basic gestures as open and hold the doors, bring flowers or take care of them...
kids so rude and raised improperly with no respect for elderly, authority or whoever is older...
There is much more than that but averall it was our choice to come and stay and you don’t go to a someone else church with your own pray, you learn the new pray...
I wish patience and determination to all immigrants as this is not easy to start all over - and wish some understanding and kindness to Canadians... when you look at an immigrant you want to make fun of think or remember about your parents or grandparents who struggled to give you the life you have today.

MY ADVICE and EXPERIENCE as a French:
The truth about Canada is that there are jobs available BUT those jobs are mostly survival jobs and even if you have a masters degree, you will end up doing those jobs because they will keep saying “you need local experience”. In the US, at least, you have greater chances to sit in a job that kinda matches your credentials… not so in Canada..
-Another thing that I do not like is the LONELINESS here, it is terrible and eats you out!!! I have two friends of mine who are dealing with depression now as they had false hopes and could not save money! Some are French like me and a few are from Asia and India. Trust me it is VERY hard to save money heee coz the salary are so-so and the cost of living are very very very high! The few that you save just go swallowed by taxes. So yes, I get free healthcare and patati patata but also you pay so much on the other part.
-the other aspect is the cost of living … you overpay for EVERYTHING!!! Rents, phone plans, meals etc….
    - also since we have arrived here me and my wife also keep fighting and the reason is: MONEY! By living here, you spend a lot and it is extremely hard to save!!! Some of my colleagues at work face the same problems too and one of them is filing for divorce now.. reason: money and probably loneliness as it is very hard to make friends here in Canada… even for me who is European …. you will see that too. People are are nice on the outside (better than in France) but they never invite you at home… never!!! In France, we do that all the Time like once we know the person, we invite that person in or at least spend time with him in a cafe … but here… nothing!
    - Also 2 years ago, at work, I have had a colleague from a country in Asia (it is relatively a poor country unlike Japan or koreA), and he had an autistic daughter. Although they got fundings as well as benefits, they still chose to leave. You know why? Because here, yes the child gets therapy but outside therapy, the social net and relationship is very poor or almost impossible as it is VERY hard to make friends here… even among other immigrants!! Now, they are back home and since they came back, although they have no funding or even if the therapies there are less good than the one in Canada, their daughter seemed to have become better. Why? Because down there, she has had access to more social interactions and the parents also have more opportunities to have access to respite (as there, it is almost free… just tell someone or a friend to keep an eye on the child and it is fine!). Here in Canada, this colleague of mine kept complaining how hard it is to find respite and how expensive it is!!!! So yes, you have benefits but you also have lots and lots of drawbacks!!! I am sometimes tired of people complaining about how lucky the immigrants should be once they come here as they left their “rubbish” country behind them! in France where I come from, I also hear the same rhetoric but sometimes, there ate good things about poor countries but that many idiots don’t even know!
    - Regarding the pensions, yes we have the OAS and the CPP but there are conditions to get those (like living 10 or even 20 years in Canada ) and even combined, they cannot rival our French or the German pension amount (I am not saying it coz I am French, but it is just the plain truths); unlike the pensions in Europe which ça cover all of your expenses, the Canadian one just won’t…. Unless you retire in cheaper countries!
    - Also regarding the welfare, surely the Canadian welfare is better than the one in the US but if you compare it to Europe, it is not that enviable.. look at this vlog:
    th-cam.com/video/F2VJd-UtuI4/w-d-xo.html
    -
This is why we are thinking of moving back to France or may be try the US later before the worse happens to us too… and yes, I do not want to retire here in Canada either coz of this (in France, I have family and property and honestly for you immigrants, before immigrating here, DO NOT SELL your property… NEVER! Because if things do not work well where you gonna immigrate, then if you sell your house or all your assets in your country, there will be nothing you will come back to. You will have nothing at home so do not sell your house or tour land!!! On the contrary, keep the land in your country and let it gain in value). So yes here is why I do not want to retire in Canada:
    th-cam.com/video/k1oRl1ZGt8k/w-d-xo.html

Canada is a very beautiful country and very very expensive. Vancouver and Toronto are way above most peoples reach - more for the wealthy classes. If you come to Canada with university degrees from overseas they may not be recognized and you would have to go back to school here in Canada for to be recognized. That is the case in a vast majority of countries. I am Canadian born and raised and I wouldn't want to live anywhere else. Weather is another factor to consider and the winters are very cold and you have to dress well during those months. I am laughing at the time when my Lebanese Christian Maronite husband came to Canada and he was told by the stores back home that certain boots were made for Canada as well as a jacket, etc. During the winter way back in the 70' era he had boots that were more like shoes and they literally cracked open on him out in the cold (before the snow fell) and froze all the way to get the proper boots and proper jackets. I am sitting here laughing my head off at all of these experiences back then. Canada is a very beautiful country and you have to forget your climate and ways of life when you come here because life is completely different as well as the climate. This past winter my husband became very sick with pneumo sepsis and had a Saudi Arabian doctor as well as a French Canadian doctor who were both professors of medicine who saved his life. You can get very very sick here if you do not dress well and do not eat the proper foods, and the list goes on and on. Be in good health. The weather here is brutal in the winter months.

I came to Canada in 1984. Spent all my adulthood here. Working very hard. Now I am 58 years old and know that I can’t afford to retire here. Not everyone can be a professional here and earn a lot of money. I am working as a transport driver for the past 27 years and it was very hard on my family life. It is pure luck that my marriage survived it for over 30 years I am a lucky one. Yes, I do have to move back where I came from for two reasons. One is the biggest, the financials and two the weather. I find it more difficult to go through the winter here. I love the outdoor activities, but the cold weather getting intolerable. Again, only people who got a lot of money can go south for the winter, average people staying indoors for 6-7 months of the year here. I am talking about people who have retired. Yes, there are way more countries out there where life is more difficult than here. But for immigrants who coming here without money, it is an uphill battle from day one. It is sad reality that after 36 years an immigrant have to decide to leave this beautiful country and basically start all over one more time for old age.
