The detail and paint on those cars is great! I imagine they are pretty heavy too. Nice smoke effects on the S3. The sound on the F-7 set is excellent, can't wait for the review.

Those are some slick looking cars! The windows really set them off with the silver edging and round port hole style windows on the sides. The F7s are very nice too!

In looking at some of other Lionel dinning cars in other sets, the front end of the car has a space allocated for station sounds electronics where the windows are blocked from seeing into them. I believe the dinner car in this set was left empty because Lionel used the same interior as they did with other dinning cars that have station sounds. I was little bit disappointed that Lionel did not fill that space with more tables or as you said a kitchen. I did not realize that the baggage car had a desk, shelves and washroom inside of it until watching your review. I had to go look at mine right after I watched your review!
Nice passenger cars, I like the F-7, A-B-A Milwaukee Road Engines, looks great with the Aluminum Passenger Cars. Great details on the inside of these cars. The LED lights are a fine improvement. Look forward to your tutorial video on How to Install LED Lights. I agree it is best to fix minor issues, faster than paying for return shipping and phone time to get a return number authorization. I also saw that you put command control in the new Lincoln funeral train, OUTSTANDING job with that bro! Back to this video LOL I noticed that the S3's whistle sounds just like the one in the Southern Cresent at least to my ears LOL, which is a very good thing. Also like the new F7's, very nice! At 4:31--There's no kitchen in the diner visible because that side of the car is an aisleway. The kitchen is on the other side with only a few small (upper) windows.
It would be nice to get another set of 4 passenger cars for a longer train. I'd also lei to see the 4-8-4 on the point of the F7s for even more motive power.
Great review Eric! They are beautiful cars, I just can't see why Lionel is charging $160 per car when Atlas O has the California Zephyr cars which are actually scale and much more detailed for less. I understand that these are aluminum, but I have found CZ cars for $90 on sale, so I just can't justify buying this set after my CZ set will cost $1,700 for 13 cars. By the way, you could also run these with your Weaver Baltic. Anyway, great review as always!
My favorite thing about those coaches is that they are named/numbered/based on actual coaches seen behind the Milwaukee Road 261 (except for the dining car I believe). For example, the two coaches with names are based on actual Milwaukee Road coaches but are named for ones in use behind the 261 (but weren't originally Milwaukee Road coaches), I can't explain why the dining car has no name, and the Super Dome 53 (the one in the set) and Cedar Rapids were actual Milwaukee Road coaches bought by the Milwaukee Road for use on the Hiawatha trains and are both restored and in use behind the Milwaukee Road 261 and if you look, each car (minus the dining car) has a smaller almost hard to see, 6 digit number in addition to a regular Milwaukee Road 3 digit number and that is because the 6 digit numbers are the ones required by Amtrak and the FRA for each of the cars used on Amtrak insured excursions and if you charter them and have them coupled to the back of an Amtrak train such as the Empire Builder.
Why not finding a way to keep the gaskets of the soft rubber diaphragms coupled? It would look a lo more realistic. Maybe small magnets can do the job. I think small velcro strips could be used for the same purpose.
It seems like there are a lot of minor problems on these cars, especially at the price point they're at. And on top of the 4 year wait... The lack of the detailing for the kitchen, one of the cars not having a name, incandescent lighting, and then the shipping issues in addition to all of that. I could understand some small issues, especially if they weren't $600. $1000 all together. Sorry to sound negative, it just urked me a bit. Enjoyed the video as always.

They cost a lot because they are expensive to make. They’re made in Asia because that’s where everything is made these days. If they were made here they’d cost 3 or 4 times what they already cost.

I no this has nothing to do with the video but I had got a mth bnsf sd70 and a mth dcs system and I wanted to know how to program it into the dcs system thanks ryan
I got my dcs off ebay used and it did not have amanual but no prob. but you should look at some of my videos and see some of my trains I just got the bnsf sd70 4 my Christmas and my 14th birth day just want to see what u think
I miss the times when engines were $100 to $200 and cars were $20 (average). I had a fair set but everything is so detailed, electronics and RC controlled (no problem with that) but I can't play anything like this around my 5 year old son without understanding the value of it. One dent in that aluminum car stays forever
I did experience some problems with lighting etc. on my set. The cars are not easy to take a part and work on. The workmanship on items from China is not the best.
This is a puff-piece review. I have these cars; I waited over two years from ordering to delivery, the lighting sucks, the trucks are sloppy, squeaking is a constant problem, they forgot the kitchen, not all cars have light switches. A friend of mine sent his entire set back to Lionel for a refund. You are grateful that cars arrive in good condition? Lionel products are grossly overpriced.

Mr. Bill. The two whistles sound similar, not the same. The #261's whistle has a slightly higher pitch than Crescent #1393.

Pretty nice eric! awesome cars! but the only problem i have with them is that the super dome is supposed to be on 6 wheel trucks not 4
They made a topnotch engine , and skimmed on the cars, They have done that on all their Hiawatha car sets
Now you need to get a Milwaukee Road Bi-Polar engine, to complete the set of Milwaukee engines.
