I appreciate so much that despite being done 25 years later, with much more advanced VFX technology available, Lynch still resorted to unsettling bad CGI and practical effects to better drive the audience about this being a direct sequel to the original and not just a nostalgic cash grab.
There’s something about the cgi in the show that is actually perfect for the show itself. It is Uber surreal and I’m not sure a more modern use of it would be applicable in the setting and motive of emotions lynch wants us to feel. It’s really more like experimental cinema the entire show which is totally unheard of.
Everywhere Judy goes electricity follows so I like to think Laura's screaming somehow stopped Judy and "kills" her, hence the electricity going out. Interesting to think that Leland and Sara were both possessed by black lodge entities.
Especially since according to various sources in the Twin Peaks canon, BOB and Judy were essentially 2 halves of a whole, and should BOB and Judy ever reunite it could destroy the world.

I've watched it all since 1990. Season 3 definitely hurt my head trying to understand it, but it was stunning and excellent and incredibly moving. This recap is a very good production and help.

Riverdale based a ton of stuff on this show it did it badlt, but it tried at least werid thing is that the Riverdale comic is something entirely different and much better but the writters are insane
Ah, so *that's* why Janey-E (sp?) was targeted! Mr. C came back and expelled Diane to the Zone (altering her appearance and blinding her in the process just in case someone like Briggs came across her so they wouldn't readily save her), then creating a tulpa of her so he would have his own assistant (he still has Coop's mannerisms and would "need" a Diane). With her memories of her inherited life, while planning to create Dougie as a back-up in case Coop tried to come back, Tulpa-Diane suggests to Mr. C that they hide Dougie by having him live an unassuming life with her unassuming half sister. I'm actually impressed at how much is alluded to in the show but not outright said, as it shows Frost and Lynch heavily discussed the backstory behind everything prior to making this. Thank you very much for helping make S3 more digestible!
SPOILER: IMO I think it’s clear Cooper/Richard with Laura/Carrie defeated Judy bc once Laura screamed the electricity at house went out, and the black lodge was also out of power/no more juice…hence no more evil spirits/dopplegangers
Yes, after giving a thought, I think this is the most plausible explanation, going by the lore so far. I think the scream was resistance. It was successful and turned the tables in this new reality entirely, dislodging (see what I did there?) the entire spiritworld from Twin Peaks.
I couldn't get through the 1st season (stopping at 2nd to last episode), but really wanted to see, what the hype is all about. Plot summary helped me with that and now I know, that I might have had a chance of enjoying parts of 3rd season, but not the rest. Thank you for saving me few hours of watching this show.
Great summary, thank you for turning it all together, and also giving us the option of choosing which outcome we believe, because at the end of the day, they’re all still in hell and hell about repetition. I don’t think the cycle ever ends for Cooper. He’s just doomed to try and fight the infinite evil again
Thanks! That was an amazing recap. Brings back memories of watching twin peaks in high school. Maddie’s death traumatized me! So season 3 is the new Twin Peaks series? Fire Walk with me was so good but so sad. This show was so confusing!

Twin Perfect is great, but I see our videos as serving different functions. Mine is an overview that hopefully helps people understand the overall plot of the series, including the ending. And I made a concerted effort to use as little personal theorizing as possible and stick solely to the metatextual facts of the series. But that can be really difficult in a show like Twin Peaks, so Twin Perfect's 4 hour+ deep dive is also a good resource for the more minute details and explorations of themes. Consider my video to be the Albert Rosenfield and Twin Perfect's to be the Phillip Jeffries.
twin perfect’s video is an interpretation not a summary/explanation of the in universe and he focuses too much of his meta narrative interpretation it takes away the value of the story
Minor correction: The FBI was brought in specifically because Ronette crossed a state line, not because the locals were in over there head (although they were, in reality).
I thought you'd talk about the mysterious Leland spirit at the end of Season 2. Is he the spirit of Leland, or Leland's doppelganger? Heck, he could even be a Leland tulpa! With that, what was the role of the Laura doppelganger in S2? So many unanswered questions!
At the end of Season 2, I think it was Leland's spirit. It's stil trapped in the Black Lodge. It tries to reconcile his actions under Bob, but appears not fail at that. Doppelgängers appear to have a distinct role, one of being explicitly evil. So I don't think it was his doppelganger, but his trapped spirit.
Thank you season 3 explaination was great. In my opinion though season 3 became too complex for audience to follow even for hardcore fans. I wish they didn't do, there is greater evil plot and just focused on Dale, his evil doppelganger and people of Twin Peaks. Bob getting killed by a random teen with a green glow is one of the most anticlimatic plot lines ever. Season 3 creates more mysteries by explaning more. I guess that is something special to David Lynch.
The population of Odessa, Texas was 99,940, according to the roadsign on the edge of town - and according to the decennial US Census of 2010. Therefore Richard aka Cooper comes to Odessa, finds Carrie Page aka Laura Palmer, and takes her back to Twin Peaks, Washington, sometime between the years 2010 and 2020. So a reasonable answer to Cooper's rhetorical question "What year is this?" might be "2015 ± 5". But, since the bereft Sarah Palmer still lives in the Palmer house in the "normal" timeline, Cooper/Richard and Laura/Carrie, are visiting the Palmer house in an alternate timeline, not in the future per se. My question is, does the Carrie Page timeline now collapse and catapult Cooper and Laura back to the "normal" timeline, or does the "normal" timeline collapse leaving Cooper and Laura stranded in the Carrie Page timeline?
