Ever since Twin Peaks first aired here in Belgium in the spring of 1991, I’ve been fond of it. I think I’ve watched the first and second season in their entirety about five times, but I’ve only watched season 3 once so far, and the same goes for “Fire, Walk With Me”, which I haven’t seen probably since around the time it got its first dvd release. Earlier this year I finally got around to reading “The Secret History” and “The Final Dossier”, and now your excellent ranking video has inspired me to rewatch everything to get the complete experience. So thanks for this elaborate and thoughtful review.
I definitely disagree with your take on Sarah Palmer in Part 8 of The Return. I believe the show was trying to imply that Sarah was sexually assaulted that night. This is set up by the awkward kiss between Sarah and her boyfriend before she enters her house, and then the frogmoth coming in through her window and entering her mouth can be interpreted as the boyfriend coming in through her window and putting something else in her mouth. The way the bug enters her mouth seems purposely evocative of this. To me, Judy represents generational trauma. Sarah being possessed by Judy here is why she “allows” (obviously it’s unclear how much she knew but it seems clear in FWWM she had some idea) Bob/Leland to do what he does to Laura. The moth entering through the window is also how Bob enters Laura’s room. Sarah is passing generational trauma (Judy) to Laura in the form of Bob, Judy’s own creation. Just wanted to get my thoughts about this out. It was a very enjoyable video and I loved hearing your takes on stuff like this.
While that is a valid interpretation, I don't think all the supernatural stuff going on in TP is purely metaphorical or symbolic, there is just too much going on that can't be explained that way.
I like the theory but i beg to differ. I think i see whete you come from (correct me if i'm wrong): the whole "Bob playing with Leland when he was a young being a metaphor for generational abuse". But ofc, Sarah instead of Leland and Frogmoth instead of Bob. It is virtually the same theory with different characters. The problem with the "Frogmoth = Sarah's bf" theory imo is that there's absolutely nothing that links the guy with the Frogmoth unlike the "Bob theory" where Leland CONFIRMS that the Bob we see possessing Laura is the same Bob that he met while he was a child. Not only that but Bob's character's traits aswell while Sarah's bf had no such traits or at least not onscreen. What I believe tho is that yes, Leland passed the generational trauma while Sarah passed the "gateway" (represented by the Frogmoth) to the entity we know as Bob, thus making Laura the perfect vessel for Bob. Like if Leland was the lock and Sarah/Frogmoth the key.
The effects in The Return were not weak because they didn’t have the budget, it was because Lynch intended them to look like this. He would never do something that goes against his vision because of the budget. The Return almost didn’t happen because they didn’t get enough budget and Lynch preferred not to make it than make it on a smaller budget.
I truly enjoyed this video and going through the highs and lows of Twin Peaks. I felt a bit sad when it came to the end! Loved hearing your thoughts on the show and feel inspired to watch it all over again, even though i did that only a few months ago. I don't leave comments very often but just wanted to say thank you.

As requested by the poster of this vid, I am here to identify the song playing in the background of the season 2 episode "On the Wings f Love" that plays during the scene in which Cole meets Shelly for the first time. It is called "Wedding Song # 1" and was composed by Angelo Badalamenti. It was only ever released on the amazing Twin Peaks Archive soundtrack (over 200 tracks that had been composed for the series and Fire Walk With Me that had not been previously released on the other official soundtracks. It included a ton of screen used incidental & background music, as well as demo versions, alternate and extended mixes, etc. It was only available through David Lynch's official website at that time... and that site sadly no longer exists. As far as I can tell, the Twin Peaks Archive does not appear to be commercially available anywhere anymore. *sad trombone*
49:53 I'm pretty sure neither Cooper's nor Gordon's hangover recipes were meant to be sincere advice. They were both just messing with Harry by describing the most disgusting things they could think of, so that he would puke.

For me, the killer reveal is the best episode. The absolutely beautiful ending, where the waiter is comforting Cooper, and all those closest to Laura are crying simultaneously yet separately, overcome by grief without really being able to grasp why. All topped with Julee Cruise.
Nice to see another Ben Horne Civil War side-plot appreciator! It's definitely bizarre and some of the imagery is uhhh... Yeah lol. But I just LOVE Beymer's performance and the conclusion of this plot is strangely touching.
Just throwing it out there, my Audrey theory is that she never came out of that coma, making the implication of Richard's conception all the more prominent.

as a proper ending to twin peaks the finale must be my favorite of all of them. At the very end, after the electricity shuts down comes the golden scene: Coop getting whispered to while the track plays, called "Dark Space Low". Absolute dread. Something really went wrong there.

Ngl when I was going through the series recently, I was very surprised by Denise. Very forward thinking by Lynch and Frost. I was 100% expecting the character to be played for laughs or something like a lot of 90s shows did but no, it was played 100% serious and respectfully. Kudos to them.
Lara Flynn Boyle was Kyle Maclachlans gf at the time and she was extremely jealous of Sherilyn Fenn, so yeah you could say the actresses didn’t get along. Apparently she was angry at the romantic tension between Coop and Audrey and Kyle refused to have his character kiss Audrey because Lara forbade it.
The bts reasoning is stupid, but I am personally glad that Coop and Audrey never got together. Not only would it feel weird for a usually conscientious FBI agent to have a legitimate romantic connection with a high schooler (possibly 18, but still a high schooler nonetheless).
@@JohnDoe-xf8ew They had the same issue going on as in the show Community where they didn't foresee the on screen chemistry that the characters would have and therefore didn't plan for it. Both in Twin peaks and community the female character didn't need to be so young as their respective actresses where actually older anyway. Sherilyn Fenn was 24 or 25 and Kyle was 31. What's even more silly is that Heather Graham was 5 years younger than Fenn and they then paired her with Coop. They simply didn't address her age.

Random suffle of episodes was most fun, thanks. I watched it when it first aired and I captured it on VHS. Sometimes we had to wait for weeks to get the next episode.
Interesting start, I always felt that "the condemned woman" was the episode where the show got interesting again after the last 6 episodes had the Evelyn Marsh storyline
After playing Alan Wake II and enjoying all of Remedy's games before that, I figured it was finally time to watch this show and what a ride it was. I'm currently rewatching it for the very first time and I'm trying to take my time with it. The first time around I felt like I maybe rushed things a bit to get to S03 cuz I had heard so many interesting things about it.
Season 2 started off by dialing the supernatural and horror elements up to eleven. Episode 10 and onward brought the show back to its subtler, more slow burn roots. It is drawn out far too much, but it's really not much different from season 1 up until the finale. It keeps the charm, characters, and writing that people love all throughout.
Unpopular opinion: I don’t think Season 2 is that bad. I will admit it does feel a lot less focused than the first fifteen and the main plot with Windom Earle isn’t particularly great, mostly just because that character feels rather inconsistent, there’s a good character there, but his whole chess deal feels more like a Batman villain than Twin Peaks. That being said, I still love being in the world and the characters and the fact that Season 2 has more David Lynch as Gordon Cole, who is my favourite character of the show. Also, I as well love Benjamin’s Civil War plot, if only because I’m a West Side Story geek, so having Richard Beymer and Russ Tamblyn on screen just makes me squee. Oh, and let’s not forget Denise Bryson. Also unpopular opinion: I don’t like Season 3 as much as the first two.
1:12:10 i could be wrong but im pretty sure they do still live together, but this scene he was just working a late night shift. just my observation tho
There are probably many explanations about Coop's floating face in S3E17 circulating around the internet, but at the time I watched it in 2017 it worried me quite a bit. I thought: something here is not good. Maybe it's because the exchange 'good Coop to planet earth / bad Coop to the Black Lodge' did not go as planned. As if something essential of his personality was missing. I laughed my [censored] off when Coop thumbed up and said: "I AM the FBI" but I doubted whether the Dale Cooper of seasons 1 & 2 could have said something like that. So I thought that the real complete Cooper wasn't really present and was watching all the occuring events with a certain concern or even fear. Later on, I figured that the floating face might suggest that Cooper was The Dreamer of Twin Peaks. And that he dreamt the entire story. S1, S2. FWWM, Missing Pieces, S3, you name it. But these are all wild suggestions, I admit.

Suprised that you would put "May the Giant be with you" at number 1. I think it's great and would give it like a 9 out of 10 but this episode has to get through a lot of exposition that drag it down for me a bit. But yeah it has a lot of great classic scenes like the Major's dream and Ronette remembering the night in the train car.
For me the Bob-Leland relationship and history is a metaphor of a kid abused by his neighbor who then became an abuser himself.

Me, horrified: *why did you phrased that with annoyance?*
Agent Cooper looooves coffee...
The goat came back
Really entertaining
The worst one is Dispute Between Brothers and the best one is Beyond Life and Death
Good video but I don't think it was necessary to do a 2 hour video about your favorite twinks
But these are all wild suggestions, I admit.
but if he woke at the finale as Richard, what the hell happened in the very end? Or was it still a dream?
@@Zagadochnost Good questions indeed. Have to think about that. But it may take a while.
See you again in... 25 years. 😉
11:10 not a single shout from Harry is convincing 💀
excellent, thanks
#1 Was the episode to get me really hooked on Twin Peaks, nice choice.
I love the Dougie Jones love
Lauras twin 'cousin' showing up was the dumbest thing in the whole amazing series.
It was awesome
@@HNfilms confederate flags are also awesome
?????
Reminded me of the sopranos introduction Pat Parisi as a twin cuz they wanted to keep using the actor lmao
@@manuelrojas7843 i wonder if its something in the contracts where so & so needs x amount of screen time. then someone has a smoothbrain idea on the crapper like a twin
Ken Walsh is a great actor
this is NOT every sopranos episode ranked. to say im upset and punching walls would be an understatement

Wow! Thank you for this! The Return moved me in ways no other show has. Twin Peaks as a whole is indeed a special one.

Thumbed up the second I saw the first episode in the list. That Josie storyline is so blergh.
