- headed down to daytona tamworth again for another go in the DMAX karts, it went wrong, very very wrong, lesson learned for next time

I knew as soon as it said big crash that it was gonna be that corner. Done exactly the same thing but luckily came in at a slightly shallower angle so only grazed my arm. It takes bollocks to keep it flat round there cos one small mistake and you're flying into the tyres!

Been there a couple of times. On the open races. Got 2 trophy’s 3rd and 2nd. It is a technical track with the corners going up and down hill really enjoy it tho. I’m going there this Saturday 15/1/22 for open race a 2pm feel free to join. It’s great fun.
I did pretty much the same thing in turn 2 at Whilton mill, hurt like hell, but its all part of the experience!

Mate, I've watched a handful of your videos in the past week and literally just this second I realised WHO you ARE. SMALL world 😂
I’ve also binned it into that wall 😂. It was in the sodi karts and in the wet but that corner can be lethal 😂
As a former marshal at that track I can tell you that your probably doing 55 as you go under the Gantry, also seen a lot worse at that corner. Nightmare is the wet as you have no grip and everyone hose speeding off
Sorry on such a late reply, TH-cam decided that it didn't want to notify of this comment lol yeah I'd watched a few videos and seen most people up the top were pushing 55-58mph at most up there, it was all my mistake anyway just turned in that fraction too early

Do I recommend the dmax karts? Definatly, but make sure your confident on your skills, I am but this still happened lol it's great fun though, if you just take your time you'll be fine
Yh sad to see that I couldnt race either in Coventry but I went to Nuneaton Ace karting and its a track that I would not recommend its like Monaco in F1 and mini Coventry , unsafe, the laps are done in around 26 seconds and you get 12 laps a session.Apart from that I'm 1 second off track record and staff are very nice.
Haha yeah I've thought about going there but just never got round to booking it
@@LearnToRace you put information you wait a day until they e mail you and you reply to them with a date and time and when that day arrives you just show up I'm going there most likely sunday

Ouch! Glad to hear you've not sustained any lasting injuries (besides the pride). You did really well there to get the kart rotated to hit that side on. I went into those same tires at full chat a year or so ago, only straight in. I do not recommend the sprained ankle that followed...
Shame that you didn't improve the time. Your lines looked way smoother than the last vid tho dude so I'm surprised by that.
Love the commentary about the punters who have never been to the track before. Like to call them mobile chicanes. Can be fun if you come out the pits last 🤣

Thank you dude, I can just remember that realisation that I'm going in and I can't stop it haha I'll have to look over my whole video and watch the lap I did my quickest time to see if I had traffic or take a different line somewhere cause I have a feeling that might be the case
I do like going round people like this 1 but sometimes I feel a little cheat cause Im slightly faster but still fun
I will be back down soon...ish I've got my next few karting sessions lined up so maybe a month or 2, will have to see if I can catch you down there

I’ve never had a huge crash thank god got pretty close when pushing too hard and the usual being swiped off track by a novice but I’m waiting for the day 😂✌️
It's not all bad, it had to happen some day hah it was a learning experience at least

Cheers dude, yeah I went it pretty hard, least its only bumps and bruises and they're well on the road to recovery, I'm booked for my next karting session on Monday to put it behind me although I'm at a different track with different karts

Went back to this track the other day and had the same crash, but mine had bit rain on the same corner and just made my kart slip and I binned it in the same wall lol
Can I still go to daytona? do they have cadet karts and if so are they 2 stroke engines?

Do you have any plans of trying an owner driver rotax or x30? Also your kart looks a bit understeery on the left handers and pointy and oversteery on right handers.
I'd love to but, I don't own a kart and these right now are a handful so an x30 will literally destroy my brain I think haha
the karts are set up shit so the grip levels are always to all over the place ;-;
To be fair you can see on the slow mo those tires have been hammered many many times

How did it go? 😅 We went at the weekend and it destroyed my body. Did a 59 dead, which was pretty happy with considering never been to the track or drove anything other than a Sodi.

You're gonna love it, my advice is take your time, if your anything like me the first laps you'll spend getting your head around the acceleration and speed, they very slidy to begin with too untill the tyres warm up and the top corner where I went off, lift, it's not flat unless you have balls the size of planets and the talent to match, they will tell you this in the pre race brief but most of all have fun and let me know how you get on

Good luck for your first go when it happens dude. They're a big step up from the sodis but well worth it. So much more fun and rewarding to drive. The biggest tip I'd give is to figure out the best ways of keeping the revs from dropping too much. Basically you don't want to bog them down as the engine output sucks down there. Dont have much choice at t12, but the key there is getting the kart rotated and the power on before apexing. That'll gain you so much time up the straight
@@mattelliskarting hi mate. I was the one just in your session. 30th Apr (17:15). Wow they’re a different animal Jesus, i slowly felt more comfortable and ended up with a 59.4 which is pretty poor but I feel with another few sessions that can be reduced a fair bit as I’d say I probably only got like 50% out of the kart. Good session mate
@@kian8jones668 noice! Yea they are a step up. Tbh it was a slower track tonight. Good effort for the first time out. Takes a session to get over how lively they are
Here’s a tip, if you are about to crash hard, move your thumbs up to the face of the steering wheel to prevent much injury 👍.

potentially yes, but it is very hard to damage the karts

@@LearnToRace How are your mounting your GP8 mate? Just wondering as I was over at the MK track last week and they were fussy with me using a chin mount...
@@Dr.Stacker for this video it was mounted on top of my head, normally I use a chin mount but in the dmax karts either I sit too low or the steering wheel is higher so it's a poor angle, never been to track before and had issue with a chin mount

Nah I think the age limit is either 16 or 18
you gotta be 16 or 14 with previous racing experience. speak to daytona to ask if you're eligible because it is possible.
Driving in the wets is hard had a incendinc with someone witch i apologise

@@LearnToRace Yeah but it's a Saturday, casuals everywhere... so it was expected. I came 5th despite having a Kart that was poorly maintained. The throttle response on Kart no 18 was awful so i had to lift and coast, if i braked i lost a huge amount of time.
That's my only gripe with Daytona, they don't maintain the karts properly so some are faster or more responsive than others and you can't really tell who's the better driver because of it. Also i've hit that same kerb at speed and been sent flying into the grass as a result.
