Someone in my Discord threw a hissy fit at my explanation of the engines at 0:36 and it's apparent I've misspoken. They're not four/two "cylinder," they're four/two "stroke." Apologies for the confusion.
I have a sneaky suspicion i was in your race there. I recognise a few guys from a race a week or so ago. You picked the perfect time to try them out as they've just fitted a much better tyre to them which has made them much more grippy. Theyre running well at the moment. Definitely a solid first drive for the first time in the DMAX man. They can be a massive handful if you're not sure what to expect when you first jump on. A little disappointed ypu didnt do the obligatory lockup and crash into the first braking zone of t4 on your first lap. Youre using alot more apex kerb than you need to, and as you point out its throwing you wide. T4 you could be alot further left on turn in, and back on the power earlier for a shallower exit to carry loads more speed. Hope to see you back again soon!
"a bit crap but it'll do" had me in stitches mate! The feeling when you first let the DMAXs rip on the straight is genuinely the first time I was scared to kart and contemplated whether this was for me. However when you get the hang of the beast that is DMAXs wow they are fun! Glad you enjoyed it as much mate!
Hey, going through the vid now. Great as always, and you're making some nice moves for your first time! The top speeds are closer to 55-58mph, but still damn fast for rentals. Probably second quickest true rentals out currently, only beaten by club 100 karts due to less weight. I do kinda hate how rental kart places don't use the realistic top speed for their karts, and instead use the speed if you gave them like a mile long drag strip. Those engines (rotax junior max) just barely reach 70mph in owner karts half the weight on similar sized tracks. But higher speeds sell better I guess🤷♂
yh i used to race jnr rotax and have 70+mph in that kart then i went and tried the dmax karts at Milton Keynes and it was way slower and felt it exactly to be like high 50mph max.
Hell ya a Perico video! Kinda good to see you struggle on some new karts, makes it realistic expectation. Faster kart, different track, have to start from scratch. Gives me hope cause if you with all your experience try faster karts and find it difficult it makes me feel better about having same issues
17:33 That's the cover for the little bit where you'd put the ballast weights if it was superchamps. It's fairly common and a fairly annoying issue but it won't come flying off so don't worry lol
The 2 stroke karts are insaaane. I went to Sandown Park a fair few years ago and it started to absolutely chuck it down before we went on track. Wet track, slick tyres + 0 wet karting experience was.. interesting
Great fun, that's the next challenge for me also. Though I need to be a couple of years older. Are you going to do any more 2stoke racing? Owner driver kart next? I enjoyed the early squeel of enjoyment. :)
It's a good track, you should try it there in the rain for a whole new experience. My only complaint last time we were there was the coffee machine was down.
Former marshal at the track and can say your lines weren’t that bad, the track/corners have multiple lines depending on your style and weather. Definitely would have recommended you did a sodi season before the dmax tho
Thanks! I did have that recommendation before, but having a go in these DMAX karts is something I had wanted to do for months, and we finally did it on a whim before the dreaded British winter set in lol
@theCOOLskaters360 yep literally opening day. Trust me I've seen some bad bad drivers drive those karts. Also I wanna get an early feel to the electric karts cause I've only ever driven petrol and I wanna be rlly fast for next years bikc
Along with larkhall, Knockhill karting, dundde, etc etc… also the world’s largest indoor karting track is opening in Scotland soon!!! (1 kilometres long, and 3 stories!!) and if so I’d love to join you lad but that chance is very very slim lol.
2:22 I'm not sure if u meant the corner or the straight bit at the back but don't go round that corner flat lol. Best to very briefly lift off and then get back on at the time when you can get a smooth exit
They really aren't anything like they claim.. they not actually Junior max theyre more of a Minimax.. they dont get anywhere near 70mph. Theyre geared poorly so dont make the most of the power band. Having run 24 hour at MK several times with a data logger youre lucky if you see 53mph. Go try a senior max experience, with some proper tyres and half the weight. If you get into owner driving in the long run, it's cheaper with 2-3x the performance.
The Tamworth DMAX karts need a special set of skills to properly master due to the heavy chassis, you really need to rotate them with the brakes! The DMAX karts are Milton Keynes or Sandown use the N35 Chassis and feel much more easier to drive in comparison and have the same power, definitely recommend doing a MK race before going back to Tamworth so you can feel the difference 😅
Interesting, I was unaware there was a difference in chassis. Strange that Tamworth decide to do that, considering they have plenty of N35s knocking about the place 😅
Current staff at Tamworth here - the DMAX fleet we have is actually several years older than both our N35 fleet (we used to have SODI RT8s) as well as the DMAX fleets at the Milton Keynes and Sandown Park tracks, so ours were actually first - hope this clear it up! 🙂

It's a fun track! These DMAX karts are a lot of fun to drive, but they can be a handful
The flap that flew open is for a compartment that holds ballast (weights), if anyone was wondering.

Top effort perico. Keep meaning to get down to Tamworth and have a go in the 2 strokes.
nice vid also congrats on 20k been watching since 120

A perfectly valid complaint lol
00:00 a banger starts
You should try the track in sweden umeå airport. I have been on the track and i think personally that the track i super fun.
noice vid perico
GET ROBOQUESTED
0:35 four cylinder 😭😭 no, they both definitely only have one cylinder!!!
Maybe they should have more cylinders! Heck, add another engine, why not.
@@PericoKarting rotax is so much fun.
I just won a junior go kart race at full throttle Cincinnati so im hyped

nice video😂😂
Hey perico when are you going to Coventry go karting because I’m heading there on my birthday on January 6 or 7
Try midland karting sometime, outdoor track, good prices as well if I'm being honest
Been there before, it's alright, however for reasons I won't divulge I won't be going back
You should go to Rye house to try the fastest arrive and drive in the uk
nice
2:22 I'm not sure if u meant the corner or the straight bit at the back but don't go round that corner flat lol. Best to very briefly lift off and then get back on at the time when you can get a smooth exit
It is flat with a good line and clean air
@@theCOOLskaters360 I never done it flat tbh but alright
Taking it flat will depend on kart and track conditions.
@@lateapex1126 true but I was talking about the conditions of the video
