Interview of Parthasarthi ji is excellent in giving insight how Russia thinks of India as a balancer in dealing with USA and China's nexus in playing politics of opportunism.
For all intents & purposes, India stood alone in the 1971 Bangladesh Liberation War, as this conversation with Mr. Parthasarathy reveals. Hats off to Mrs IG! I admire that Indian "b****" for sucker punching MCPs like Nixon & Mao. Indira Gandhi is a true, feminist global icon of all time - no question about it - the fact she is a brown Indian is even more remarkable. She is the only woman in the world, who stood alone, against all odds, took on the most powerful men & countries of her time, decisively won a war & delivered an independent country called Bangladesh. She needs to be celebrated by all Indian patriots, viz a viz, the 1971 War. She aced it - what a remarkable achievement! Jai Hind! 🇮🇳
Very interesting first hand account from ambassador Parthasarathy, of the events ( “Nixon-Mao honeymoon”), leading to India’s negotiation of a friendship deal with the U.S.S.R., which was essentially to ensure that China was kept at bay in the 1971 war with Pakistan, in addition to weapons and support in the U.N. Security Council. The quip by the ambassador about the Soviet Union’s description of Maoism as nothing but “ Great Han chauvinism” ( which would fit all the succeeding Chinese regimes as well) is indeed apt. Such an irony now that Russia and China seem to be in a honeymoon, with two strongmen each at the helm of their countries.
The discussion is good brush up strategic relations between countries are very important. USSR was source of strength for India to come out victorious during 1971 war situation. It now equally proves that USA needs to be used if possible and needs to protective from it. 60 Billion dollars worth military hardware left in Afghanistan to destabilize India, Iran and Russia. The money got written off in war expenditure, got paid with commissions to all who participated. India is wise never lost trustworthy relationship with Russia is good for future of India.
The Soviets gave their mig21 which we used to such great effect that Russian sale of mig21 increased Mig21 of IAF should be named F104 slayer shooting four F104
Finally after several years, Nehru's policy of Non Alignment is proving to be best policy for India. We have not become weak like Japan and small European countries who depend upon US for security and not become Communist like China, by depending too much on Soviet Union.. It has become fashionable to criticize Nehru now a days , but his good work also should be appreciated.
@@AbdulSamad-jw6xq There is a downside to every thing, but India had just achieved freedom and public sentiment was against western powers who looked down upon India as a basket case. Nehru has made a few mistakes but I think being non aligned was correct policy. It is proving to be so now a days. India was not a pawn in power game of West vs. Soviet Union and can follow independent policy. Also it is wrong to assume that being in Western block, we could have become rich. There are several countries, who joined western block but did not become rich, Pakistan, Turkey are few examples and China became rich without being in western block.
@@Rockydada007 Wrong. We lost 1962 not because of non alignment. Do not think that being in any block we could have saved defeat. Did Pakistan not lose four wars with India despite being American ally? Did America help them win? We lost 1962 due to our own failures which were plenty, lack of military development, poor training, poor arms and ammunition and poor generalship, lack of political will, wrong political direction etc. All of failures can not be clubbed under non alignment policy.
What all these Indian diplomats would never reveal is that when Indira Gandy stuck the deal with KGB to eliminate ex-PM Lal Bahadur Shastri in Taskent. Then on India was no more a non-aligned country and was an active ally of the soviets. From day one of Indira as PM of India, we were a colony of the USSR & KGB. That was also the reason that the west including the US govt became openly anti-India and pro-Pakistan. Don't expect that others are blind when one start sleeping with their enemy. Indira was in bed with KGB from day one and that raised the obvious response from the west.
Fuck off with your CIA revisionist archive bullshitt. You right winger clowns were never able to digest that how could your US boss betray india and later u rallied with afghan exiles in India against Brezhnev when he visited Delhi & y'all criticized india take on soviet-afghan conflict
Parthasarathi Sir.. not seeing much of on TV or TH-cam channels.... please do unleash your vast knowledge on international relations more often..... 🙏

Great Han chauvinism 😃😃🚩🇮🇳
Very interesting to hear how things work behind the curtain. Events like war are less dramatic and more serious.

We lost 1962 because of Nehru's non alignment policy and and for this act we can't forgive him ever.
On a whole, Nehru was too good!
