Roger takes us through the process he uses to prepare common surfaces he sees when applying stone veneer.
This is a tried and true method he has learned and used many times over his 20+ years as a stone mason.

Roger. Sweet channel. Just discovered it. Is weighted felt not used anymore? Now it’s house wrap?

thanks Travis, yep most people use house wrap. its supposed to be breathable with no draft, but its not quite as good as they say. felt paper is still a good option, and it holds up well against mortar.

I have been really into masonry. I have been watching Mike Haddock on YT.
And I would become confused when someone said mortar and Portland.
Which I thought when a person mixed Portland with sand and water it was a Mortar. So, do you consider Mortar something with Lime and water and sand? Portland Sand Water and Lime?
      And then there’s Masonry Cement.
A lot of info out there.

@@travisandtracyjacobs6198 Mike haddock is great! yes i think ypou have it. mortar is a little weaker (or more flexable, softer) portland is stronger (but more brittle harder.) and the thing that makes mortar softer is the presence of lime. I'm gonna try to make a vid explaining it. thanks for watching are you doing any masonrt projects?

If you are applying the cultured stone veneer over brick, is it okay to just "lick and stick" directly to the brick(after pressure washing of course)?

yes clean brick is a great substrait. just jeep it moist so it does not pull the water out of your mortar too fast
