These are probably more like the airstream of the truck camper world. Finest craftsmanship, unique esthetic and style, modern technology, built rugged and tough in Golden Colorado (not China) by a handful of passionate Americans. More like buying art probably. I mean you could buy a wood and staples slide in truck camper for $20k but it will be far more heavy than 1400lbs and way weaker on washboard roads. Kelsey also mentioned lots of people are selling their vanlife vans and KOA type RVs and taking that cash profit to buy a more off road setup like a 4x4 truck with a camper. I guess I see the value in it because I’ve seen others that are junk. I have a friend name Gene who bought a brand new RV and the bathroom floor cracked open exposing the road below on his first trip down the road. It was made of wood and glue in a huge mass produced factory for $40k. A few bucks more and he could have had an airstream.
They start at that price because the standard package includes everything you need. The options are just upgrades that most people don't need anyways. The base package probably works best for most people. A lot of other campers like FWC start with "shell" pricing and it goes up from there.
@@Gazziza29 that’s actually a very good point. I’m sure Supertramp campers can build a shell for $20k and by the time you ad in the LEDs, battle born lithium batteries, solar panels, fridge, stove, fans, truma system you would be close to $50k without the warranty or clean esthetics the pros provide. Sell the airstream trailer or ram promaster or Winnibego class C that can’t go off road and use that cash to buy this… that’s what many are doing.
@@mixflip Oh, I didn't know there were campers made in China. Mind pointing out one to me? I'd like to save $30,000 of my own hard earned American dollars.

I did. I picked it up Dec 23rd of 22. My wife and I have been to 15 states in all kinds of weather. Rain, snow cold and heat. We even camped on a frozen lake. We could not be happier and have zero regrets. We would strongly recommend. @@OutdoorSugar
Exactly the damn thing cost more than any 34 foot toy hauler you can find. I understand why people want them but it’s a $20,000 thing at the max. I’m going to go alu-cab if I get one.
Her using the word basement is crazy. I have a smittybuilt built rooftop tent, bought it 6 years ago still solid as could be and only cost me 1200. I get the convenience of not having to tow something but 50k is not worth it.
Have mine ordered and paid for international travel.....but it won't be built till March/April 23 😭😭😭😭. I'm telling you now it is an unbelievable camper and the company is full of wonderful people.
@@mixflip Think I may have written it wrong. I'm in Arizona. I will be doing Mexico, central and south America for oh 3-4 years then the "plan" is to ship to Africa and do all of Africa. Just waiting for the camper and truck to be built. I'm am very excited that I decided of Supertramp. Yes a bit expensive but I believe worth it.
54k? Alrighty then! For 500 bucks you could have the same experience with a truck tent, a companion to the truck tent and a pop up shower/ toilet privacy tent. Which I have.
A $20 nylon ground tent is always an option. Heck you don’t need a truck. Just walk into the forest with your legs and boots. Heck you don’t need boots. Natives didn’t have boots 500 years ago. Just toughen up your feet and learn to live off the land like a native. None of this technology and gear is needed.
Starting at $60,000!! Its far from luxury, and is small. I would pay $15,000 for one, but for $60,000, there are a bunch of other better, and cheaper options
I understand why people want these things but I don’t understand why they cost as much as a 34 foot or larger toy hauler and in most cases is going to fit in the back of something that you didn’t even pay that much for.
I agree! I have a 25 ft top of the line Grand Design Toy Hauler, with bathroom, shower, heat, air, a slideout and bedroom...... Full kitchen and I paid brand new $65K. Something is wrong with their pricing structure. This is a great looking unit and I am sure its nice, but a bit over priced, I think.
Yikes! 54k? Love the camper, but no the price. I’m sure there are people out there that can afford and will justify the price, just not me. If they have a year waiting time, obviously there’s a lot of people with lots of money.
Palomino has 360 view with screens , tinted windows and privacy flaps. Also has an interior shower and exterior shower. Bathroom , kitchen, etc. The price on the Supertramp is not justified. 2023 Palomino SS-1251 fully loaded $22K not 55K
@@MrRyanmcmahon or stay in a camper like this at the edge of a glacier in Hudson Bay. Or stay on a secluded beach at Cape Horn in Southern Chile…. Life is short… no one will remember you when you are gone…. Enjoy life because it’s shorter than you think.
It’s a great design and all but I’m personally sick of pop-up campers. I have a four wheel camper hawk. Pop-ups are good for arid climates where it does not rain a lot because when you have to put it away wet, with mold and other issues then come into play. Also, I’d rather climb out of my camper into the cab and drive away. Not have to worry about stashing everything and dropping the top and matching the top blah blah blah I’d rather have a solid wall camper built for off-road.
This is not something someone who is upgrading their truck camper would be buying. I live full time in my truck camper and my 3rd camper if I decided to upgrade would be something like a Northern Lite. Especially when you start talking 60k and above. These are for FLUSH folks who go out on an occasional weekend. Pretty much have $$ to burn. Nothing wrong with that though.
These start at $54,000 without any options. It’s a nice little camper that seems a little overpriced.

Wonder if they make a version of that slide in for Tacoma or midsize trucks? Sure is a beautiful unit.
I believe they only do full size trucks for now. At 1400 pounds these would max out every Tacoma, ranger, frontier, maverick payload.
@@mixflip Good point. They would have to be scaled down some. More cost involved...
Pretty much would max our a tundra too
Love the unit, at 1/3 that price maybe.
Travel Lite says my 777L weighs 1335 lbs with options and 20 gallons of water. It only has a 9 gallon tank.

Yes
