      Question: how top heavy is that rig? Can you transverse more difficult terrain to get to off the beaten path locations?
      Thank you!!

    I might be a little biased, but I love it. I have one very similar to yours built by Pronghorn Expedition Vehicles (Total Composite panels). You're going to love it in the winter compared to your old camper. I got caught in a cold front while skiing last winter in -27C (-17F) temps and was walking around in bare feet. There was a little frosting around the door, but the diesel Espar kept it warm and dry. Make sure you keep the underside of your mattress well ventilated as it will still get condensation if it's sitting directly on the fiberglass. I just use interlocking drainage matts under the mattress and it eliminates the condensation.

    Congrats! Considering a similar pairing. Pop tops lower the center of gravity but the hard sided is warmer and quieter inside. I love that outpost put the water and battery as far forward and center as possible. I’d love to see shots driving through off camber dips and such

    • @FarOutStoke
      @FarOutStoke  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Thank you! Totally agree. The hard sided is definitely a lot warmer/quieter. Totally 4 season ready!
      Absolutely. So far with the off roading we’ve done the camper has performed great. Your truck and the upgrades on it would definitely make a difference for off-roading but we’ve had zero issues! We also don’t intend to do gnarly trails. We love it.

      I had a 2023 four-wheel camper hawk pop-up and got rid of it within 6 months. It was so hard to sleep with all the noise. I had a few storms with high wind and had such a hard time trying to close it and get to safety. It was also so bad in the cold and unbearable in the heat.

    It’s an impressive camper especially at this price point and their first camper release. Nice tour Teagan. If Outpost makes an 8ft long bed model with more water storage (ideally 35-50 gallons) and a hot water heater and wet bath I think there would be a lot of interest. It would be nice to be able to use the outdoor shower with the screen door closed (due to bugs). Maybe offer a gas heater for those with Gas trucks if possible, not sure if they have a gas unit that could work on a slide in.

    • @kyledukes49
      @kyledukes49 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      The diesel heater is self contained. It has 5 gallons. That could theoretically last 150-170 hours on low.

      @@kyledukes49on low and moderate temps I agree. For cold temps at the sled lot I’d had to bring a separate diesel can as a backup.

      @@skyrubin2257 for sure. I'm not really sure how you would tap into a diesel truck's fuel tank from that rear location anyway. I just never really heard of anyone using a gas heater. Usually it's propane or diesel.

    A couple of questions. That was a great tour of the camper BTW.
    1) I have a 3/4T truck as well. How top-heavy does it feel when fourwheeling? With the underfloor storage this has to be even taller than one without.
    2) What was the hit on your gas mileage on the highway?
    Thanks

Great video and tour of the camper, right when I was debating between a Kimbo and a Scout camper...this shows up and I am now highly leaning towards the Outpost 6.5, plus it is a lot closer to where I am in Utah. Thanks for the great review as I did see the video done by outpost themselves. But you folks have a cat as we do as well, and the litterbox is always a concern for us as we have a Chevy Silverado 1500 rear drive. I saw the litterbox very briefly for Moose, was it a custom add on / built in? Could you include some photos of it please. I will subscribe so I can view your adventures past & present. Thanks from New Hampshire.

      Thanks for watching! We appreciate the support. :) The only thing custom about the litter box was that they were able to make a hole in the side of the closet so that Moose could have her littler box in the bottom of the closet area! The dimensions and height worked out perfectly and her litter box is separate from our clothes. I have some images and info about it on our Patreon if you'd like to take a look, but in the future we do plan to do a full video on road life with a cat!

    it appears the 6.5 comes standard with one usb charging port at the galley. are you charging phone/tables/laptops at the galley? are you planning on installing additional charging ports, perhaps in the bunk or near the bench/table?

    • @FarOutStoke
      @FarOutStoke  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      We actually don’t see a need for additional usb charging ports! In the kitchen area it has a usb / usb-c port so we can charge two things at once off the dc system. There is also a small usb plug in on the nightlight by the bed area. Otherwise, we have 2 ac outlets we use for camera batteries/laptops and haven’t found a need for anything more than that.

I mean when you guys are boondocking, Do you let Moose run wild, or does he stay in the camper? My wife and I talk about taking our cat McQueen on the road. (Sorry, I didn't mean to derail this video.)

      I’ve traveled with 2 in my TC for the past 4 years seasonally. Mostly winter months. Now adding a 3rd kitty. 🤷‍♀️. It’s very doable.
      I’ve got a pass thru window that I use when parked so the cats have access to the truck where I keep a top loading litter box with TSC or Runnings Equestrian pine pellet litter. Work great!
      You tube has lots of vids on how to leash and harness train. Small steps and let the cats ease into it and once they become familiar and comfortable with it they do great. Use your scent on carriers and leashes to help. We use Tractive trackers and an air tag on their breakaway collars. Practice everything so they get used to it…. Creatures of routine👍. They seem to love it!

      @FarOutStoke  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      Thanks for watching! And totally. Here’s a quick rundown on Moose…
      So Moose grew up in our old camper and has always loved camper life! She goes outside occasionally with a leash / harness on, but for the most part she would rather be in the camper. She lovessss it in there and is very much an indoor / sit at the window kind of cat.
      Cats are pretty adaptable and if they have a cozy place or an area they know is theirs, they can get used to it pretty quickly! But we’ve never had issues with her trying to escape or get outside. She only goes outside if we allow her and usually she’ll just jump right back into the camper haha.

    • @azxp
      @azxp 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @FarOutStoke Thanks for that. The funny thing is my wife is into it, and I am the over protective "cat dad." Our cat is about 12 years old. Is it too late for us in your opinion?

    • @FarOutStoke
      @FarOutStoke  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@azxp Totally understandable! Personally, I don't think it's too late! If you intro your cat into the vehicle at home in little bits and take her/him on car rides every now and then, it'll help them become more accustomed to it. I think it's very doable but also could totally depend on your cats personality.

    Wow, impressive, and their pricing seems fair compared to the rest of the industry! Did I miss it, there a water heater?

    • @FarOutStoke
      @FarOutStoke  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Absolutely. We didn’t find anything else like this on the market when we were looking for campers! There is no hot water heater. But we had one in our last camper and hardly ever used it!

    how is roof constructed? rubber covered? most RV/camper roofs leak in few years with out constant maintenance.

    • @FarOutStoke
      @FarOutStoke  หลายเดือนก่อน

      The entire camper is a total composite shell! You can read more about the construction of it on their website by heading to the link in the description. No leaks here. It’s not like your standard RV/truck camper.

    I was sold on this camper. Extremely light, self-contained, and I don't have to pull a rig. I looked up the price....35,000! Are you kidding me? 😂 You can't even be homeless without paying an arm and a Ieg

      Yes! The backseats in the truck are folded up and it’s kind of our “garage”! Bikes / backpacking gear etc. Will do a full video on this later this year.

    I can't find any information of what the frame is made of. Hopefully aluminum. Jacks put a lot of stress on a camper and the old wooden framed campers often flexed when jacked.

    if you were overnighting and some bad person closed your tailgate, would you have to climb out the window to get out of your camper?
    (unlikely to ever happen, but still something to plan for)

    • @FarOutStoke
      @FarOutStoke  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      We actually did think of this beforehand! And yes! If that were to happen, we would probably have to climb out the window. BUT the windows are quite large and it would be super easy to just hop out if needed. We also could even potentially crack open the door and reach a hand through to open the tailgate but haven't tested that out yet haha.

      I have a truck camper that I use with my tailgate. When camping where someone could trap me by closing the tailgate I put a cylinder shrouded padlock (the kind that storage units sell) on the latch on the side that doesn’t allow the tailgate to close. Voila, nobody can mess with me stealth camping 😊

      We have the cassette toilet and see no need for an additional bathroom space! In our last camper we had a full wet bath and never used it. Always took an outdoor shower or showered when we went to the gym. :)
