I'm a retired Signwriter and screen printer. A light spray of spray adhesive on the platen will help with making sure the fabric doesn't move while printing. You will have to reapply after a few shirts. To prevent the ink from squeezing between the mesh and the frame put some 2inch wide tape on the mesh and frame. So 50% on the mesh and 50% on the inside of the frame. Makes clean up much easier. You should go around the whole frame if doing more than one print. Hahaha you can flood backward to return your ink as well. This is painful to watch for someone who did this for 40 years lol You don't always need more pressure but you can squeegee more than once and I'd do at least 2, possibly three, depending on "Things" Don't lift the screen just pick up the ink with the squeegee and run it a few times. Quite interesting for hobby users. I am a professional screenprinter and we use lasers to make the coating waterproof. The image itself is not engraved as here. Everything you will not print is made warerproof with a UV laser and the final image has to be washed out after lasering. And one little advice: Put some paper tape in the inside of the frame. Thanks so much for this! You convinced me to buy the screen printer, which I'll use w/ my P2, and I also used your link to get the heat press and a bunch of screen printing accessories. Time to bring my book merch production in-house.
Great Video Mike. Are you going through how to clean the screen, and put new emoltion and burn new image? and also how to clean the screen if you want to keep that image for another day. Thank You!
Yes and No, when you need to burn a new screen you just pull out a new screen ready to go. they sell them cheap. Waterbased Ink warm water and a sponge took 1min,, then dry off screen blow out with compressed air. Plastisol ink will require a spray cleaner to clean screen. Maybe in the future they will sell no emulsion screen for people who want to just have the metal screen raw!!
I can see the value in having this ability for a buisness that uses the laser for other things but might want to make a special run of shirts, banners or bags. Would save the hassle of having to source it out, especially for me since the nearest screen printer is over 50 miles away. I do t know that it would replace traditional screen printing but it could be handy.

Hi, loved this video. One question: can you use the laser engraver to burn images directly to a t-shirt, is that possible without damaging the shirt. Thanks in advance ❤
Kind of, Co2 laser are best at this but its very fine line, between, lasering the fabric and destroying the shirt., or getting the fabric lasered only to find out when you wash it it falls apart. :(

I’m having trouble finding a clear answer anywhere maybe you could help, would the Xtool screen printer work with a non Xtool CO2 laser like the OMTech 60watt?
Got me thinking. I use a pvc free sign vinyl that I cut/engrave with my co2 laser Safe as houses to use with no nasty gasses Covering the screen with that and then engraving the design may be a solution@@LaserEngraving911
Did you see the part where I evaporate all the water using my heat press? I made sure I took care of that part in the video. You can see me do that here in case you missed it 23:10
@@LaserEngraving911 yes, but then you’ll want to press it a second time to really cure the ink. Speedball ink even suggest waiting 24 hours before pressing. I don’t always wait the 24 hours because I don’t have the space to lay out all the shirts for my small business. So we do a 2 press process. Once to evaporate the ink and the second to really cure it 😊
Hello 'Laser Engraving 911', I understand that this is a form of screen printing but, is it possible to use the xTOOL D1 10W/20W instead of the S1 40W? Thanks
yea i joined it. im gonna do a couple power test with screens that didnt print right. leaving everything else the same just change the a little up see how it does
has anyone done a cmyk screen print using this? i figured it would be much easier to pull off since the screens are already mounted before engraving. it should technically be impossible to get misalignments, ya?
The screen only comes in 100? That looks like speedball, which is very runny and the INK (not paint) will run right through it.. does it come in 160 or 230?
yes, INK, correct. They only offer 100 at this time. We used speedball in the video and and the ink that came with the machine from xtool, both worked very well! at least in MHO, a a nooby screen printer.
You need to split your multi colored graphics in to parts and use each screen as its own color, while leaving the shirt in place. Then you apply each color to the shirt.
The system comes with 3 screens you can buy more if you need them, you just wash the screen out with warm water if you using waterbased ink, if you use plastisol you will need to use a plastisol cleaning chemical when you wash it, one you bur the screen that is permanent 👍
I just don't see that being better then the old fashioned at all...its cool and maybe one day it might but it's easier and better to just do it the original way I feel like
@OFFICIALTEAM-cz6ok idk about faster....say you only have one laser to engrave your picture...idk but I have a laser and it takes awhile to engrave things....I can coat and burn a screen in a matter of a minute whereas this would take longer....on a busniess perspective where mass production matters then this way doesn't make sense but as a hobby or low amount of jobs then I can see your point
@@LaserEngraving911Thanks. This is a good point as water waste is quite significant with Serigraphs. However, with laser engravers, lots of particulates and hazardous light. laser engravers are quite hazardous especially in a school environment.
As a full time screen printer I'm always intrigued by these types of "at home setups." Screen printing is not something you want to try to do at home. No way to reclaim and reuse the screens, so just buy new ones? Loads of problems and issues that the unsuspecting DIYer is going to regret.
I hear ya, these were never meant for large scale production, I'm sure.. and the screens are cheap, I'm sure this system will be great for those wishing to dabble, just another added value tool for those already doing personalization.
As a Textile Designer anyone who wants to screenprint at home can. I'm not sure why you're gatekeeping the trade and process. There's enough room for everyone to create art.
😂 There is nothing to show, just spray the screen off with water, then blow the screen of with some air or a dry towel, its really that easy, if your using water based ink, it literally took me under a min. With Plastisol ink I think you will have yo use a ink cleaner spray. spray and then dry..

I’ll take the bag of Coco for my granddaughter
Amazing job!!! Congrats.
Thanks!
What type of air compressor was he using at 12:43 when clearing the debris from the newly engraved screen??
can the screens be recoated say if you wanted to engrave another design or is it a case of buy one screen for one design?
lots of folks have been asking this, I'm sure that someone will figure out how. You would need to find a laser safe emultion to re-coat the screen.
Got me thinking. I use a pvc free sign vinyl that I cut/engrave with my co2 laser Safe as houses to use with no nasty gasses Covering the screen with that and then engraving the design may be a solution@@LaserEngraving911
i want asking about ? every time i need to print new thing it need new replacement screens aluminum ? yeah ? cant using same Screen for more works ?
correct you need to buy a new screen for each print, they sell them in 5 packs
@@LaserEngraving911 ah i see other Thermal printer with roll mesh nayloon pvc i think it is more economic
Didn’t see any Coco Bag comments. “Coco Bag”
With water based in you need to let the ink dry all the way. You want to evaporate the water from the ink or it won’t cure correctly. 😊
Thanks
100%
I would love a coco bag
my s1 is not engraving the mess with the presets on the xcs
Hmm have you checked out the official Xtool S1 FB group? facebook.com/groups/1809380769558447
yea i joined it. im gonna do a couple power test with screens that didnt print right. leaving everything else the same just change the a little up see how it does
has anyone done a cmyk screen print using this? i figured it would be much easier to pull off since the screens are already mounted before engraving. it should technically be impossible to get misalignments, ya?
Bonjour quelle et la marque de votre presse pour chaufé les t-shirt avec le screen printer ? Merci

Still wondering if someone can illuminate me on what the mesh size is of these screens.
They only offer 100mesh at this time.
@@LaserEngraving911 Wonderful, many thanks
How did you get the screen frame on AI?
I drew it.
,what if i dont have the s1 printer but i have the screen printer?
You can laser the screen with any diode or co2 laser.
@@LaserEngraving911 Thank you for your reply
The screens are reusable?
yes you can wash them out and use another color again. and again.
how do you make a new design do you need to buy a new screen?
yes you can buy them in 5 packs on the site.
Great 👍
Thanks for the visit
How do I get 2 or more colors
You need to split your multi colored graphics in to parts and use each screen as its own color, while leaving the shirt in place. Then you apply each color to the shirt.

Bonjour pour l’écriture il faut mètre option vertical ?ou horizontal?
Not sure what you mean please.
Is the screen reusable? If it is, how do you reset it for a new grafic?
The system comes with 3 screens you can buy more if you need them, you just wash the screen out with warm water if you using waterbased ink, if you use plastisol you will need to use a plastisol cleaning chemical when you wash it, one you bur the screen that is permanent 👍
@@LaserEngraving911 Thank you! :)

CAN YOU ACTUALLY SCREEN PRINTE USING POLYESTER PLASTIC SHEET ?
no you cant, the laser will completely melt the screen, you need to use the screens made for the xTool screen printer, they are made from steel
I can’t hear a word you’re saying because your dog is so cute.
😂😂❤️
I just don't see that being better then the old fashioned at all...its cool and maybe one day it might but it's easier and better to just do it the original way I feel like
Thanks for sharing!
It’s clearly faster and does the same thing! You can choose your own inks… and you by pass the mess!! 🤦🏾♂️
What's the advantage of using a laser over just burning it with a UV cabinet? don't see a huge advantage I guess?
No wash out no chemicals,
@@LaserEngraving911Thanks. This is a good point as water waste is quite significant with Serigraphs. However, with laser engravers, lots of particulates and hazardous light. laser engravers are quite hazardous especially in a school environment.
🤩
Dang that looks sweet
Its a pretty cool way to get into screen printing for sure. Thanks for watching!
As a full time screen printer I'm always intrigued by these types of "at home setups." Screen printing is not something you want to try to do at home. No way to reclaim and reuse the screens, so just buy new ones? Loads of problems and issues that the unsuspecting DIYer is going to regret.
I hear ya, these were never meant for large scale production, I'm sure.. and the screens are cheap, I'm sure this system will be great for those wishing to dabble, just another added value tool for those already doing personalization.
if the screens are cheaps will be the best alternative for those who works, even in production because you are saving a lot of time
I couldn't find the screens on the x-tool site. How much are they?@@LaserEngraving911
As a Textile Designer anyone who wants to screenprint at home can. I'm not sure why you're gatekeeping the trade and process. There's enough room for everyone to create art.
Show the clean-up next time.
😂 There is nothing to show, just spray the screen off with water, then blow the screen of with some air or a dry towel, its really that easy, if your using water based ink, it literally took me under a min. With Plastisol ink I think you will have yo use a ink cleaner spray. spray and then dry..
What about fine details. Those metal frame holes look too big....
Its a 100mesh, and I was able to get amazing details. If you need higher mesh counts you'll have to go with traditional screen printers at this time.
Tired of it yet?
Nope!
