I want that!!! I have been looking at the x-tool screen printing kit. I have the m-1. I also recently bought a homemade screen printing press but it costs $65 and a week to get screens made locally so I haven’t really gotten into it much other making fake screens with cut vinyl designs. I love that you showed recharging the screen! I want to be able to make real screens in house when inspiration strikes and then be able to make adjustments. I also love that you picked a project that mixed both laser cutting and screen printing. That’s the kind of projects I like to take on. I have also been inspired by ur take on business lately. Lots of good stuff. Keep it coming

a week to get the screens made? one, fucking, week? man you can do that at home in an hour. you need a few things that will cost less than 65$ combined:
      1- a screen
      2- emulsion
      3- emulsion coater
      4- a suitcase
      5- a table lamp
6- two lightbulbs (one of which emits UV light, the other one doesn't)
      7- blow dryer
8- film positive of the design (if you have no film positives, just print on a normal a4 paper and coat the a4 paper with sunflower oil)
9- an a3 sized piece of black cardstock and a piece of foam sheet
10- 200 sqft space including a bathroom and a bath hose (I use my 50 sqft bathroom and not a single sqin of additional space)
      steps:
1- put in the non-UV emitting lightbulb into the table lamp, light it up and close all of the other lights
2- coat the screen with emulsion
3- with the bottom side down, blow dry the emulsion until it no longer feels sticky
4- (optional) if you're going to store the screen with the emulsion coating until when you'll burn it, put it in the suitcase
5- put the cardstock on top of the foam sheet
6- put the emulsion coated screen on the cardstock, bottom up
7- flip the film positive horizontally and put it on the bottom of the emulsion coated screen
8- replace the bulb in the table lamp, put in the UV emitting light bulb
9- expose the screen for some time. you can experiment with the exact time of exposure, but I had zero problems after vastly overexposing my own emulsion (longer than 10 minutes for an emulsion with an optimal exposure time of 4 minutes), so you can be pretty liberal with it.
10- wash the screen to remove unexposed emulsion
The whole shebang takes less than one hour and costs less than 65$ to set up. After the setup cost, cost per screen is will maybe go up to 2 dollars (even if you vastly overestimate water and electricity).

  • @mymagicsigns
    @mymagicsigns 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +5

In screen printing context an emulsion is a light sensitive solution, and you don't use that if you aren't planning of using an acetate print to transfer the design, for lasers you use Liquid Masking Fluid or Latex or Acrylic paints, oil paint, anything that does not react with your ink. If you use emulsion, you need to cure it after drying.

I have always wanted to get into screen printing, but as you said, it required a lot of stuff and space, and my small room doesn't have the space, just enough for me to do heat press. A week ago I happened to watch Laser Engraving 911 testing print on the Xtool which got me really excited! This is possible to fit in my room. But it's out of my budget as I also need to get a laser engraving machine. Anyway, just trying luck, and will work my way to level up and learn more skills. I have seen some avocado of yours videos, I had thought on getting a creality falcon 2 as laser cutter starting point since I live in a flat/apartment, and there was once a few years back I though on getting one of those machines to print some custom t-shirts(mainly drift/car related/inspired) but I wasn't ready to open shop yet, since I don't have lots of income and machines are expensive and take space(that I also don't have much), then life happened and after my stroke episode last year(at 33yo) and my head changed, all I can think is to who wins that please use it to make a profit and give back in some other way later to someone.
I watch your videos from time to time and is always really entertaining to watch, thank you for that.

I WANT THAT!!! I never realized the versatility of screenprinting. I have tried it in the past with just one screen and it just became too much in creating the screen. Instead of burning the screen, I used vinyl and added the paint to the negative space. This seems simpler.

Never thought that you can just use your laser engraver to make the screen, so thanks.
