I feel like the reason why minecraft is the best game (or one of the best) is because it does one thing most games don’t let you do. It lets you be free. Freedom is what makes this game so good. With this aspect alone, along with its modding possibilities, it has timeless appeal that most games (or at least most modern ones) can’t seem to have

Minecraft really does feel like the perfect forever game. Mojang is doing a pretty good job with their recent updates, with getting you excited for both new features and more importantly old features as well. I always want to test out the new things added but want to go back and finish my old ideas that I've had on my to do list for a while, and maybe incorporate the new stuff in there as well. Even without updates I still would be satisfied with the game, but they definitely enhance the experience.

this was kind of a good reminder for me of how ever-changing Minecraft is.
one thought that's always re-emerged in me the past few years was whether certain new additions "fit into" Minecraft, particularly i was recently listening to the new music and there was some i just didn't feel sounded like Minecraft at all (i mean i think there are some objective measures that made it a valid feeling, but:)
After watching this video i no longer feel that it's really any issue that some of the music is not perfectly in line with the previously established style. Every aspect of Minecraft is constantly changing and evolving, there needs to be room for experimentation; it'ss how Minecraft has worked all this time and the game wouldn't be where it is if it weren't that way

By making pcg acceptable, it made rogue lite acceptable, and people start looking to use it, which led to terraria and Spelunky driving the point home further by being landmark use of procedural generation. I can see how Minecraft is nice in some aspects like building, because of the community posts, and of course the modding community. The main reason I rate Minecraft so low in my personal tier list of games I have played is cause I feel directionless.
I hate feeling that way, because I need a reason to do something or else it feels pointless. Sure I can create a house, but why do that when there is Villager homes or simply the option to sleep outside through the night without any downside? I could enchant too, or just simply just do some villager exploitation and anvil them to become stronger.
I know this is just a personal issue I have with the game due to how I see things. Not every game will cater to my preferences, and they should not. Cause base Minecraft just isn’t for me. Modded Minecraft though... (isn’t unique to Minecraft either but eh).

🍍i really appreciate how much effort is put into the game design of Minecraft. features work together in useful ways and every update adds something new which still seamlessly meshes with the rest of the game. With how weird and jarring some mods are, you can see that it takes a lot of effort to make a structure or a new item feel just right, but the developers usually deliver in this front. i find myself really enjoying the little things like bees making your crops grow faster and how useful allays are and how mega iron ore veins make abstaining from iron farms a viable way to play.
Trying to code videogames myself, i now know how much work the developers are doing for even the "simple" features like adding new wood types.
i dont even know what the next update could possibly be like we have a cave update now, we had significant improvements to worldgen. are they gonna do the end update next?

I agree, there can’t be a defined “best” game based off anything except objective facts such as sales. Something truly being the “best” revolves around the opinions of the individual. And in my individual opinion, Minecraft is the best 😃

you should make a video on Minecraft coming back, I think it is, lots of creators are starting lets plays rn, and google trends shows a peak that hasn't been seen since 2021, so it may be beginning to come back (just barely by 1 point). sorry for the run-on sentence

Started playing a couple years ago at age 47 because i got it for my 5 yo. I played gta online for 10 years. Since finding Minecraft i haven't played another game. I cant believe there are old school players who complain about the newest content. Like i couldn't imagine playing a stripped down pre 1.17 world. I think it would be less fun for sure, maybe not even enjoyable... Pineapple 🍍

Try flying on the Nintendo switch, I'm literally flying blind most of the way until I hit a mountain or something because the regen is sooo slooow, plus since the update it sometimes takes about 10+ seconds to open my inventory or a chest.

Is a fantastic game must agree most likely the best game ever made. Have played hundreds of different games. Some I loved an incredible amount. I think Minecraft will undoubtedly end up being the game I spend the most hours playing. That is an amazing feat as I spent an incredible amount of hours playing a couple of games over the decades I have been playing.
Congratulations 🎉 mojang and Notch you have made the best game ever.

Minecraft was the first open world game, like true open world game. Only other game I know of at the time was Malluinxo' Black and White And Black and White:Creature Isle. But minecraft, anyone can play regardless of age and play however you want to. Most people I know don't even fight the ender dragon, they are builders and build in the overworld or nether. and it's that freedom that is so special.

I played the free classic version for all about two weeks. I felt it had potential but also had so little creative freedom. I wanted the freedom to build whatever I wanted, something it was promising but not fully delivering. I have been an active player for the past 5+ years now, building and exploring and just doing whatever I wanted, whenever I wanted. This is what I love about Minecraft. I can play on creative or peacful or normal or hardcore, I can be exited for new blocks and mobs. Kinda weird that one ghet so exited for a new tree or a rock/mineral. But that's Minecraft for ya. It's also a great game for the whole family to play together. We all can play in a creative world and have our own base made the way we want them to be and then have the youngest in the family come destory everything with their "improvements". I'm not a multiplayer person for that very reason. I want things my way and if I build something I want it to stay that way. Now that destructive chidl is building worldmaps, structures and all kinds of creative things like statues of his favorite Minecraft youtubers. He recently asked "mom, what does that cat you watch look like?" Toycat? "yes" he's an Ocelot, like a yellow cat. I have yet to see why he asked but I bet he has a Toycat in his superflat creative world.
Another part I find so great about Minecraft is that I don't have to stress about it. You're on no time limit, you don't have to do this to save this person and so on. I have a mdeical condition that takes most of my energy on a daily baiss and I just can't be bothered to think or focus on anything. And just aimlessly running around doing nothing is quite relaxing. I'm currently mining a whole snowy peak mountain, for fun and for materials for my base. I'm in survival so doing this manually has been tediou but also good for my mental health.

yah the multi player aspect, is quite evident in games that fill the same niche. for example ARK, I at some point felt like it was the natural progression from Minecraft but definitely not single player friendly without heavily tweaking settings, and Minecraft kept drawing me back in. a game that to some extent follows the same formula and gets away with the difference in amounts of players is 7 days to die but ja most of those games I play les frequently my one world is about 10years old and yah cant say the same for the other two games despite loving them both as well.

i think minecraft is far from a perfect game. A lot of its features just don't mesh well together, it's clunky and stuff like enchanting is quite outdated, and a lot of it is compartmentalised or doesn't play into the rest of the gameplay. But overall as a tool for creativity, as a way for people to create and share games, or just to play minigames, it's god tier
