- Live at First Light for Lawnya Vawnya // Artist in Residence St. John's, NL Dec. 2020
Featuring Tim Baker, Adam Hogan and Steve Maloney
A cover of "Wild Mountain Thyme" a Scottish/Irish song also known as "Will Ye Go Lassie Go" initially adapted by the Irish musician Francis McPeake based on the words of "The Braes of Balquhidder" by Scottish poet Robert Tannahill and melody by Scottish composer Robert Archibald Smith.
Special thanks to Donna Burke that introduced me to this song, on a summer night singalong at her house in the town of Brigus, Newfoundland and Labrador.

MAYBE THE BEST RENDITION I'VE EVER HEARD. TRUE TO THE SONG. NOTHING EXTRANEOUS. STRAIGHT OUT BEAUTIFUL.
Wow, just Wow...Simple, Clear and True to the Original Song......Thank You.
lovely
Cause I'm a Scotsman. And no matter who sings this or however, I break down in tears. It's a very beautiful thing indeed. Thinking of lost ones up yonder on the great wheel waiting for us.
The clear and silver fountain, with the flowers of the mountain.
Best version of a song that most mess up. This is brilliant. This lady is brilliant
I'm 76 yrs old. Heard this played by scores of different performers/groups over the years at Highland Games etc. One of my favorite tunes that tears me up every time. This is hands down, flat out, the most beautiful arrangement I have ever heard!! Kudos!! This will be my go to version from now on. Freaking beautiful!! Subscribed.
Maybe it's just me but the male harmonizing around 1:50 on reminds me of the Corries,
@@ronaldmcrae4896 THANK YOU R! I'm glad you liked it -- where in world are you?
@@nicopaulo5440 North Carolina, USA. Was actually listening to this when I noticed your post. I can't imagine how many times I've played this since discovering it. My family came to the US from Scotland via Canada.
I agree. I've been singing this my whole life, and this is just gorgeous, my favorite ever.
Have to agree with you!
I'm convulsed in tears. This is the most evocative, beautiful version I have heard of this song so beloved of my dear friend Genie Williams who left us several years ago. We used to just call it "Genie's Song". Thanks so much!
The way such music always sounds best, simple and pure, like it would have been performed 200 years ago…bless you all.
My grandma, born in Glasgow, recently passed away. I’ve been able to stay strong and stoic for my family, but this broke me and I needed that. Thank you.
Sending some love ~
So nice. She has a gorgeous and haunting voice and their harmonies are really good and "comforting"!

Absolutely beautifull.
Nico ❤️👏👏
The first time I heard this song was at your performance last summer at Writers at Woody Point. It quickly became one of my favourites. I often tell people how special of a moment your performance was that night, as your emotions were so raw. I said it after the show, but again, thank you for this.
We were there too, you couldn't be more right. Raw, pure, honest, a really special moment.
Amazing song and rendition. Could listen all day long to such talent.
Deepest respect and regards to you from Australia 🇦🇺, it was beautifully presented and it is still timeless makes my old heart ❤️ melt, thank you.

Agreed with the other comment. One of my favorite old Scots songs, found this searching for more versions of it. This one is utterly heart moving. More, please 💝 do a version of Barbara Allen 💝

I would also love to hear sinead oconnor and the corrs sing this they would sound amazing too
Good
What can you say 👌🇮🇪☘️
You're voice is amazing and I'm sorry to dislike but you should have used the proper words. That to me spoiled it. Dont be feart to use the twang!
What are the correct words? This Is the braes of balquiddar; the original song ( maybe not the tune); wrote at least a couple of hundred years ago, then Francis McPeake took it to Ulster, and made it will ye go lassie go….
