Maybe I am not a skilled player, but I found that even with elemental build (Lvl. 5 from armor), your weapon needs to be at least 8.1 to farm 8 stars effectively. Or else you will be struggling in every 8 stars battle and desperately trying to deal the last dmg on the 75th second. The easiest way I feel would to be carried by stronger players and hope for your first 2 (with craving knife) WGS drop and spend it on your Fire or Water elemental Weapon. So that you can start farming 8 stars Kulu Yaku or Great Jagras effectively solo.
Grade 7/5 weapons will start to struggle against anja, diablos and the flying monsters. It will be challenging but not impossible haha. So i farm the easier monsters for easy wgs drops :)
Sadly this video does not work anymore since the urgent missions were reworked and now it include 8star monsters like Pink/Blue Rathian, Black Diablos, etc. So getting the 9Stars is so much dificult now
Yeah but now you can lower difficulty right before you finish story and repeat it at 8* so you get guarenteed free 8* hunts. I have farmed several shards this way.
I can't get to 8 star monster but right before the video I killed a jyuradotus only breaking it's heat and got the level 5 drop, I never ever brake their tails, and I got more of that part than the equivalent for the great jagras
I can only play solo, I live in a small city where I'm the only guy really into the game. The only 8 star monsters I'm strong enough to kill are the Great Jagras and Pukei Pukei. I've killed about 30 so far and I have have only 2 shards, both from events, none by carving monsters. I'm completely stuck and about to give up. Niantic really fucked end game for solo players

The biggest issue this game has is that they are trying to replicate Pokemon. When you live someone relatively small, you don't have the same opportunities to hunt more monsters like someone who lives in a city would. Also, the drop rates feel like they are based on the monster hunter game, where you could selectively hunt the same monster multiple times to get what you need since the drop rates are so low. When there is no quest board to choose your target, they should adjust for that in the drop rates. I have been hunting 6 star monsters for almost 2 months now and can't get past grade 5 on all but my poison bow, and my water bow can't get past grade 4 because not only are the drop rates garbage, I can hardly ever find a Jyuratodus to hunt.
Thanks for this video! What about the other monsters, like Pukei-Pukei, Tzitzi-Ya-Ku, Paolumu and etc. And also about the new one monsters (Basarios and more).

The specific part broken definitely makes a difference. You can only get WGS from breaking the correct part in the broken part rewards.(The normal 4 rewards are random regardless if you break 0 or 4 parts, so you can get anything there). It also applies to other materials....for example, just breaking Legiana head will never get you a claw for that, only rarity 1 (I switch from melee to LBG to break wings for claw farming 5 star Legiana)
Breaking wings is so difficult with melee weapons haha. Sadly i dont have a strong enough ranged weapon for 8 dtar monsters. So i'll stick to trying to gyro wings with the lance haha!
From my experience I'm a melee weapon user and I've always only focused on Legiana's head and I've been getting claws. Maybe the chances are lower but I've been getting claws for my rewards.
WGS is a random drop, the more you kill, the more chances of winning . . I mean getting. I also subscribe for the premium plan season pass so i can get WGS on lvl 50 and 100. I also got 2 carving knives so far from subscription, im using it to get double rewards, when i get WGS drops. Great Jagras And Great Girros are my only target because they are easier to kill and i will try kulu sometimes, just juggle on its arms and legs(when its holding a rock) hope this helps guys. My man I hate you for speaking the truth. And I also love you for it... Saturating my map with opportunities has always been in my highest interest.
