Wow, wish I knew this in my comp days, we used to dance slowly slowly, quick quick slowly. Also I agree with you that some Foxtrots today as compared to the classics are a little weird to understand the timing. Abba's I do, I do I do is the perfect tune for a beginner.
What a uniquely excellent lesson I will to have to watch it again and again to hopefully finally understand it but in any event Thank you very much indeed!
If you dance the Change of Direction figure slow, slow, slow, and a slow equals 2 beats, the bar would have 6 beats? Or are the beats syncopated to fit 4/4? Bit confused on this figure.
Both. Start with the rhythm count and learn all your steps that way. Then learn to count them as Beats and Bars 1234,2234,3234 - 8234 so you can dance to the correct phrases and measures of music which makes your dancing more musical. Rewatch the video.
That would explain the mime act toward the end! 😂 I literally figured out how to do this and just decided to go live and see. The volume was matched so it ended up muting me - so I wrote on screen an underlined bars just in case. Next time I’ll have it balanced. Hope you got something out of it anyway.

Brilliant - all makes sense, now going to re-write my notes. Thank you.
Great idea! Let me know how it goes and what else you may like

Vaughan - So when you dance the Foxtrot are you counting the beat 1,2,3,4 etc or SQQ?
Both.

What is the name of the song and do you have more good old foxtrot song where I can hear the music the best
Search for anything by Victor Silvester and his orchestra
I'm sorry, but the music is so loud, can't hear your counting in many places
Lip read
You don't discuss the fact that the 3 beat is accented and the weight bearing leg bends between measures of music
are we supposed to be able to hear what you are saying when watching the couple dancing?

Vaughan, am I correct? I thought Luca started on 5234?
Which part
😂 you have got to be kidding me. Can this guy actually dance.
Nah no one on this channel can dance. 😜
This video is exactly what I need except for the bad audio. 😢
You can’t hear your counting above the music very well. 😢
I know it was the first time I tried this method. I repeated it a few times in different ways so you should get the idea still
A technological disaster sack your sound engineer (which is probably you)😂
