NOTHING but NOTHING BURNS RUBBER like the Bandag Bullet!!! 16 cylinders and 4 turbo of tire frying truck power! What a beast it just disappears in it's own tire smoke, bloody awesome! When they nitro it produces 2800 tire smoking HP!!!! AWESOME!!!! ( i looked it up online )
Great to see that this truck is still around and thrilling the crowds. I saw the Bullet 30 years ago at Tarmack drafway in tasmania and it made the ground shake below your feet.
I had the good luck to get a close look at the Bandag Bullet a few years back. Close as in getting a look under. Everything on the engine bar the block has either been chromed, or polished to a mirror finish. Even without its tyre frying, quarter mile shredding performance, it still looks good as a show truck as well
10Klb? more like 20Klb. This truck is owwned by the countrys Bandag Retread supplier, originally built to prove how tough the retreads are to the sceptical aussie market
The honest answer, and no insult is intended, some of us march to the beat of our own drummer. We try to build something unique so we can stand out from the rest of the pack. Since this vehicle is nothing more than a toy, it doesn't need to haul anything but instead, make the driver and the audience smile. As far as the speed is concerned, a stock truck like that would probably run high 20's, low 30's in the quarter mile so a 12 second, 10k pound rig is a substancial achievement.
The Bandag Bullet has been around for well over 30 years (in different forms). I saw it driven by Lewis Collins (of the tv series 'The Professionals' ) at Newark, UK, in the 80s. It's still impressive in it's current form.
@tubefed420 , it has 2x 8v92tta bolted together making it a 16v92, 2200HP on straight diesel and 2800HP with the 600HP NOS shot, runs an Allison CR4550 trans, not sure but i think its a rockwell diff. It holds the world speed record for a Conventionally-powered truck over a 1/4 mile from a standing start, average speed 182km/h , top speed more then 300km/h. the down side of screwing that much HP out is the motors have to be rebuilt every 6 hour's of running time, hope this is some help for you.
the driver of this thing has got some major balls... if he misses a split second of anything he is screwed... and i loved it when i saw this thing myself many years ago at archerfield....
Goddamn i love this truck. I remember seeing it at a young age at Oran Park when my Dad used to race trucks there. It was still the old cabover White back then. It was the highlight of the weekend.
@hunterlong123 it's one engine, just made with 2 seperate engine blocks and crankshafts, but they are made to bolt together. Its a 16V92 detroit diesel. You cant get 2 8V92's and join them to make a 16V92. Good old 2 stroke diesels! Normally this engine would make around 1000HP from the factory, this thing is putting out around 2500.
@sa3dH4EvaR It runs a pair of 8v92TT Detroits bolted together as I recall. They are 2 stroke engines, so they sound like they are turning twice as fast as they actually are.
the lack of the typical diesel black smoke,indicates that all this super/turbocharging gives the engine more than enough air and all the fuel injected in the cylinders,burns completely.
@ktmyamaha01 Its a extremely modified kenworth built by a Australia's largest truck tyre retreader Bandag to be used as a promotional tool to show people that if their retread truck tyres (Bandags) can withstand this amount of torture, how long will they last on your truck or trailer?
@roadwolf2 you forgot to include the nitros as well mate! i should no, where i used to work in Salisbury, Brisbane QLD, right near the train station is a wrok shop where this best sleeps and eats tyres for breakfast
@MRGAZZA60 Mate its not a lawn mower engine Its not two engines as such. Its two blocks and cranks joined together which is factory. Unlike a petrol 2 stroke, diesel 2 stroke have cams to activate the four valve per cyl and the unit injecters. It may have blower(not super chargers) but there only there to make the thing run, ( scavage the cylinders) once the boost is up the blowers free spin. so if you break a blower shaft it won't run.
AS GOOD AS IT IS, THEY HAD ANOTHER TRUCK CALLED THE BANDAG TITAN WICH WAS A MACK TITAN TRUCK (AUSTRALIAN MACK TITAN MODEL) THE BANDAG TITAN WAS POWERED BY JUST ONE MACK E9 V8 ENGINE DISPLACING 18 LITERS AND 998 CUIBIC INCHES. THAT MACK E9 HAD 4 TURBOS ON IT, BIGGER INYECTORS AND CERAMIC COATED PISTONS AND JUST THAT VERY ONE ENGINE REACHED 2,500 HORSEPOWER!!!!! SO THE BANDAG TITAN WITH ONE ENGINE WAS CAPABLE OF DOING WHAT THE "BULLET' NEEDS TO DO WITH 2 ENGINES
and u also have to run blowers on the 2strokes as there is no intake stroke on a 2stroke to suck air when turbos not boosting so u are running the 2 turbos though a blower and into your cylinder then injecting diesel at around 5degree ptdc ever rotation of the crank rather then every second in a normal 4stroke also this thing would 64 exhaust valves and no intake :)
wow, i'm a fan of all diesels, that is just plain macho. Nothing say's I'm badass like a couple of detroits at redline!! Too bad I'm in Ohio, I'd love to see it. Sweeeetnessss!!
i still have a chunk of rubber that smacked me in forehead from this truck at motorvation 18 years ago, hit it with the ciggy lighter occasionally to take me back
NOTHING but NOTHING BURNS RUBBER like the Bandag Bullet!!!

this thing is so crazy to watchin in person!!! i loved it :D
I remember seeing this truck at my school in Darwin in 1992, hasnt changed a bit.
Every trucker should have one of these!!
@tubefed420 , it has 2x 8v92tta bolted together making it a 16v92, 2200HP on straight diesel and 2800HP with the 600HP NOS shot, runs an Allison CR4550 trans, not sure but i think its a rockwell diff. That thing sounds absolutely beast in idle.
this is the best video of ever about burnouts
the driver of this thing has got some major balls... if he misses a split second of anything he is screwed... and i loved it when i saw this thing myself many years ago at archerfield....
love the sound of turbos in the morning
Goddamn i love this truck. I remember seeing it at a young age at Oran Park when my Dad used to race trucks there. It was still the old cabover White back then. It was the highlight of the weekend.

@DIENAMICProductions I believe it was built to advertise tires made by Bandag.
this is the best video of ever about burnout
@sa3dH4EvaR It runs a pair of 8v92TT Detroits bolted together as I recall. They are 2 stroke engines, so they sound like they are turning twice as fast as they actually are.
i got a poster of this thing in my room
things an animal!
@tentaclefingers it used to run the 1/4 back in the day, ran 12s from memory. pretty cool to see something that big go that fast!
just imagine putting those 4 turbos and two superchargers in a car. yeeea
the lack of the typical diesel black smoke,indicates that all this super/turbocharging gives the engine more than enough air and all the fuel injected in the cylinders,burns completely.
2X 8V92TA engines joined together at the cranks, so two blowers, 4 turbos and injectors that flow like fire hoses...
The best is an understatement. WOW!!!!
@lfinoto The whole point of this monster truck is to publicise the quality of Bandag brand re-treaded truck tyres, I guess they do an awesome job..
man that sound is just so soothing :D
The first 12 seconds look like something out of a slow-motion drift. Ah, the smell of burnt rubber.
That was cool, Sweet burnout.
it seemed like a giant burnout in slowmo
i have a poster of this truck on my wall its amazing
@ktmyamaha01 Its a extremely modified kenworth built by a Australia's largest truck tyre retreader Bandag to be used as a promotional tool to show people that if their retread truck tyres (Bandags) can withstand this amount of torture, how long will they last on your truck or trailer?
@blownhemi i would of guesses its the 16 cylinders ,4 turbos and, 2 superchargers.
Oh, so this is a real burnout machine. At least they can re-tread those truck tires.
@roadwolf2 you forgot to include the nitros as well mate! i should no, where i used to work in Salisbury, Brisbane QLD, right near the train station is a wrok shop where this best sleeps and eats tyres for breakfast
thats one hell of a rig
most epic thing ive ever seen
They should make a donut pad big enough for this behemoth!
@MRGAZZA60

@747turbowags a lot of them do, actually. depends on what your country's emissions limits are
That was cool I would like to see it go down the 1/4 mile
the driver of this thing has got some major balls... if he misses a split second of anything he is screwed...
I think I just made a mess in my pants...
amazing thing!!!
My pop has been working for the company that makes tyres for this truck and etc
and u also have to run blowers on the 2strokes as there is no intake stroke on a 2stroke to suck air when turbos not boosting so u are running the 2 turbos though a blower and into your cylinder then injecting diesel at around 5degree ptdc ever rotation of the crank rather then every second in a normal 4stroke also this thing would 64 exhaust valves and no intake :)
good one frank
the fire is good because it burns all the soot
nice truck, love kenworth t600
@ktmyamaha01
It's heavily modified. :)
tyre dealers must love it
New Smoke Grenade concept.
we need that in RoR!
Somewhere in that smoke is a hopped up semi.
thats not a truck its a fucking monster!
it is actually 2x8v92 detroit diesel egines with 2x turbos per donk
lol that would be pretty badass to haul stuff around. except i'd have a peterbilt though...
looks like i know what im watching later tonight
Power, check.
Skid, check.
quad turbo?!?!?!? holy shit!
4 turbos and 2 superchargers!?!? how much boost is that thing making?
Now that's burning rubber
very incredible!!!!!!!go go!!!
note to self, dont let this engine "runaway"
@lfinoto The company that owns this truck just happens to make retread tyres lol.
Getting high on white clouds of burning rubber.
omg...sweet, but how many hp? 2k hp?
wow, i'm a fan of all diesels, that is just plain macho. Nothing say's I'm badass like a couple of detroits at redline!! Too bad I'm in Ohio, I'd love to see it. Sweeeetnessss!!
that man can tow my civic home ANY fuckin time!
اموت واعرف وش يسؤؤن في مواترهم عشان يصيرؤن بهالقووة
haha he came with tyres, and left with none!
freackin awesome nice one
@sa3dH4EvaR
Yep, Diesel.
@klasse2bub You've seen it.. You've heard it.. and you're still asking questions?
@blownhemi ! 1987 Kenworth?
@wetaconce Well i'm glad that i was the inspiration for you to learn something new. Knowledge is power ;)
Do they ever clean the track or is all the rubber sort of a bonus?
Its an Australian burnout pit thats what its for.
i still have a chunk of rubber that smacked me in forehead from this truck at motorvation 18 years ago, hit it with the ciggy lighter occasionally to take me back
its has twin V8 diesel engines if im correct?
Awesome!!!
big monster machine!!
some serious power!!
@bartv111 it is a diesel...
it only does a 12sec 1/4 with a 16cyl engine and 6 sources of forced induction? :(
This truck alone has melted 1/4 of the ice cap...
GOTTA LOVE 2 8/71 TT TWO STROKES ON FULL TILT......
Hey where are you i cant see a thing..
Anyone one know some specs on this beast? I wanna see the manifolds on this, How much psi? whats the final drive ratio?
Needs at least 6 more turbos and 5 more superchargers...yeesh give me a supercharger at least
oh man i wish i was around when this shit was in its prime . detroit 2 stroke just rapes my face clean off .
@wetaconce o whatsa hoozins?
" while he's out of the car do you want to see more" see what ? theres to much smoke:D
@richardarichter123
Its 2 x V8 motors
how much hp
@MrMacktrucksforlife wow someone woke up on the wrong side of the crib this morning!
@heterosapien69 diesels dont have catalytic converters
0:28 - 0:38 is fucking epic as, like scenes from a action movie.
Is it bad for engines to breathe this much smoke?
best reason why for developing lung cancer.
ostenvind It's diesel , it's mostly only soot, that's what diesels do!
Bet hes not running recaps on the drives!!
No doubt the crowd would get injured by the scrap rubber.
VISCEROUS!!! CRAZY!!!
