Your solutions only camouflage the problems, it doesn't solve them. I own a 2021 Rogue and i noticed these same annoying problems with this SUV, and more. The worse for me is that it wants to be in control and be the boss, and not just when parking...
More solutions that camouflage the problems. Rubber cargo area mat. (turns out not to be a bigger problem than you already have) Nissan doesn't give these away because they can profit from the sale. Your owners manual states you need to lock the vehicle twice then hold the start button down. This is in section 3 -20 and the Quick Start Guide. Not so much camouflage there. To help with better city mileage try the ECO mode. Driving styles are different for everyone, but this does help conserve fuel. If your driving style tends to prefer quick acceleration then this mode won't work for you and you weren't going to save gas anyway. It turns out my Rogue is not as sensitive to Road Snakes as yours.
@@SmokinMonkeyOG There may be a difference between the Rogues made in America vs the ones made in Japan. Mine is made in Japan. I wish I could post an image from my manual or the help guide so you could see the instructions in my section 3.
The issue with lane assist is not unique to the Nissan. I have a 2021 Subaru that has the same behavior. I think that is the state of the technology right now. Some have suggested that it is best used when traveling on highways, rather than local driving.
I have the same issue with my 2020 Kia. I hate it so much. The tech has a long way to go! It’s created dangerous situations for me a few times. I had to turn it off.
As an owner of the 2017 rogue. I like seeing how my model's successors are coming along. I think the 2017 or 2018 was the last display that was built in. Now the Rogues use the awkward tablet screen. and the weird looking gear shift. I'm not a fan of it due to that design killed Anton Yelchin (Star Trek). I love my Rogue so much but the I doubt I'll buy another one due to the way the price keeps rising but the newer features are not worth it. And the ones I did love are leaving. 1) standard gear shift 2) a display screen thats not an awkward tablet. 3) lower price (but inflation is inevitable), more bang for the buck. Not sure what vehicle I may end up getting but it will likely be a compact SUV with better fuel economy. Being American I'm more used to hearing mpg but L/1000 K seems like another good method to measure economy. (Just put it in Gallons per 100 miles i guess. I loosely understand it).
So this is my review. I have the 2023 Nissan rouge SV premium package. Wanted the SL but didn’t see a huge difference between the two. The SUV is a great size for the everyday person. Meaning it’s not to big nor is it to small. The new engine turbo 3 liter is very interesting how it runs. It has great pick up….and sounds good too. Gas mileage is great…could be better but…for it to be a SUV it’s pretty manageable. I wish the tank was bigger the 14.5 maybe 16 like the Altima….the exterior looks great stylish…..the infotainment system does have it issues but every Nissan I’ve had has had the same issues with the screen. If I could be honest this is probably one of the best Nissans in the line up. I’ve had a Altima and maxima and even though they’re different cars…this being a SUV it gives you a little bit of everything in one. I also have the panoramic sunroof….im going to get customer leather seats to match the black and brown interior. I love the truck….spacious, fun to drive, and stylish overall.
You hit every nail on the head! I have had mine for almost 2 yrs and just today my screen blacked out (except in reverse) the camera worked. Which brought me to your video. Remote start: super annoying trying 2 to 3 times to get it to start then to go inside and it shuts down to have to restart the car. Backing up: scarred the crap out of me the first time as I thought I hit something hard when it was only bushes and I get out to find I have 2 feet left to back into my spot. No problem with road snakes. The seat is NOT comfortable for me at all. I commute an hour to work and my legs are sore and feels like the circulation is cut off, all my other vehicles no issues. The inflatable back support deflates all the time ( the 2018 never did) so I have to inflate each time i get in the car. I don't like the fact I can now beep the car even if the doors are open. Does not give me the security that all the doors are closed correctly or at all. 2018 gave me that security. No beep=door isn't closed and secured properly. Seat adjustment super difficult to get it to where you need. and Finally... I HATE HATE the brown interior under the windshield (dash?) and along the side of the doors. This was almost the deal breaker for me. Not visually appealing for me at all. Would have preferred all black to produce a simple sleek timeless look. Truck automatics trunk too sensitive. they also took away (from the 2018) the ability for the back seats to move forward so they can recline a bit more. Great for passengers to relax a bit more on longer drives. Rant over ;) thanks for the video!
Thank you so much for posting this video. I am picking my Rogue SV up from the dealership in a couple of days. I will also be parking in a parking garage and I always back in my space, so I appreciate the heads up about the problem. I noticed at the dealership today when I went to test drive, the lady that was showing me the remote start feature also had to attempt at least 4 or 5 times to get it to start and we were standing practically in front of the car. She made the comment that this had happened with other models on the lot lately. That did not give me a warm fuzzy feeling because that is one of the features I was most looking forward to.
Owners manual says up to 5 seconds actually. And it doesn’t work most of the time. It’s not a complicated procedure, and the car recognizes the lock button every time but the start doesn’t register for some reason
@joan M try to double press the lock and hold the remote start for 2 seconds. This was 2 years ago so I’m sure you figured this out if you purchased the vehicle but if not give it a shot
Your car definitely has a key fob issue. You either need it replaced, or try replacing the battery. Hold the remote start for at least 2 seconds. If this doesn't work, a trip to the dealer is necessary.
I am currently using one as a rental and I hate it. I hate how when you set the cruise control, you have to navigate back to the home screen if you want the digital speedo, I hate how uncomfortable the seats are compared to my Murano, I hate how the material they used for the doors and the seats is almost like burlap. I hate the screen that looks like the Hulk smashed a tablet into the dash, I hate the shifter how the buttons are on it and how it moves like the cheap one that Chrysler used for a few years now, I hate the center console design. Like its a payload doors on the space shuttle, I hate the divorced headlights, I hate the button layout on the steering wheel and the black shiny plastic they used as an accent, I hate the climate control if you run it with anything other than on LO, you don't get cool air. Maybe I am spoiled in the fact that I have a Platinum Murano and these things are so much nicer, but this is a cheap feeling car. It does not feel like the build quality is there and like something is going to break easily.
Rental fleet are just that, fleet orders….all go in one manufacturing run and things are “sped” up. Those don’t go to dealers. It is a fleet of soon to be beat rentals.
As far as auto start, the book says to hit the lock button twice, then the auto start button. Mines been working so far. I agree the vehicle is under powered with under specification for city running. I think also the odometer function is asinine. It should stay where I last had it when I turned the car off. Now here's something you may not know. The radio peculiarities is a known problem, not just with Nissan, but many other manufacturers. My 2018 Honda CR-V EX had the radio replaced twice and they skated around it blaming the sun and various other items. I had 28,000 miles on it, garage kept and the front struts mounting rubber just crumbled, then the AC lost its charge, so I went back to Nissan. I wanted the turbo charged one, but I don't like leather seats. Trubo charged has better gas mileage then the inline 4. Look up the TSB's on the 2021 Nissan SV which is what I have. I'm sorry I didn't do it before hand. The console it an abortion. The space underneath it it practically useless ascwill as the tiny glove box. Oh, other known problem, false triggers on the rear doors. Happen about once a week, it can be turned off, inwant it fixed. I went through hell wit Honda, not going to do it with this car. Their manual also m sucks. Good luck
I've had my 2021 Rogue Sl for about two weeks. With previous cars i took the radio quality for granted. The sound quality in this car is the worst I've ever experienced. Nice ride and nice comfort thought.
I went from a 2016 Camaro 2/SS to the 2021 Rogue. So far I love it but there are a few things I do NOT like about it. I hate the assists and have turned them all off, and I hate the sensitivity of the backup sensors and how the car wants to stop you if IT thinks you are too close to something.
@@SmokinMonkeyOG I did have a very nice ride; however, it had a lot of issues. It had electrial issues, cooling issues, and had developed an oil leak. It spent more time in the shop under the warranty and after it expired for multiple issues than it did on the street. I loved it, and it was my dream car but I couldn't keep sinking money into it.
I agree 100%, ... I have turned it all off too, it's very, very annoying and even dangerous, it can even cause a heart attack on some people with heart issues.
I just have to add that just watching the first few minutes the screen issue is actually common, Nissan has a big issue with them, we’ve had them replaced in every Nissan we’ve owned pretty much since they changed them
I have the same SUV so I'll start at your first displeasure. Let's start with the level. 4⁰ off and the back is roughly 48 inches or 1219.2 mm wide. That would say that the calculated value would be 3.348+ inches of or 85+ mm. There is no way it's off that much. I experimented with the level apps on phones, and not one was accurate. When you move your phone from one spot to another and get the same reading, you need to rethink your statement. Of course, everything will move to the rear hatch without a net that it sold to prevent that. When you accelerate, the inertia takes over. Second lane departure function. They should outlaw them. I have a law officer friend, and I had him follow me using lane departure for two miles. At the end, I asked if he would have stopped me. He said absolutely. Reason, the hysteresis plus algorithms are way off. He said I would've thought I was drunk or on drugs because of 5he over correct. Next would be auto start. If you double-click the lock button to fast to auto start, it won't work. The last one is the FOB. Yes, the range sucks. I wear mine on my right side hip. Right where it dangles down to the metal safety device. About 4 out of ten times, I have to reach down and pull it up so the receiver can read it. Also, a hint for you. The battery is not your regular battery in the FOB. It's a heavy-duty CR 2032 replacement. So order it from Nissan. If the hand you a 2032, don't take it because it's not the heavy duty one. I hope this blurb helps. Good luck.
Hated the PARK position! Been driving cars for many years and one gets use to layouts. Park was always at the top. How many times did I put it in R, at the top, versus Park on the middle right. Absolutely don't understand why they designed it that way. Why not put Reverse as a button on the middle left and keep Park at top? Human engineering.
LKA is not really designed for city driving. Its for extended highway driving where a driver may become fatigued. Its a fallback safety feature and that inability to read road snakes is common among brands. Cr-v was notorious for this.
The slight slope may be so that the floor is even/continuous with the seatbacks when they're folded down. But I also think the items sliding back have more to do with momentum from acceleration and lack of grip from the carpet (same thing happens to items in my sedan's trunk)... but keep in mind, if the floor is a grippier surface it will also make it harder to slide your items to the back of the cargo area, which in itself can be extremely annoying if you have something heavy you want to push/slide towards the back of the cargo area.
You’re right it most likely is to accommodate for the seat when it’s folded. It’s annoying but I guess it is what it is. The trunk mat could end up being a pain as well like you mentioned. Guess I’ll have to live with it as it is for now
My wife and I just bought a 2020 Rogue SL awd certified pre-owned. I wanted a Subaru Forester Premium, but she fell in love with the Nissan, and while it wasn't really what I wanted, it has enough good features to make it acceptable...EXCEPT, and I don't know how I missed it on the demo drive, when the driver seat is raised to accommodate my long legs, the seat scoots forward as well!!! This is absolutely infuriating, and had I noticed it (and again, I don't know HOW I missed it), it would have been a deal-breaker! There's absolutely no reason for the seat to move forward when raising up. I realize Japanese people are typically shorter than westerners, but these things are assembled in Tennessee, and surely someone at the factory must have long legs! But as I said, other than that, Mrs. Lincoln, how was the play?
Congrats on the new ride! But I have long legs and am 6’1” and I find I don’t have any issues. I do drive with the seat in a low setting because I’m already tall and don’t need to be so high compared to shorter people
@@SmokinMonkeyOG It provides more leg room to raise the seat while keeping it aft. My height is all in my legs. And besides, it makes no logical sense to scoot forward.
My 2008 civic has the same thing and my buddies Mazda 3 as well as other buddies Nissan Sentra. I think it’s just a design they use in Japan. Probably from a parts supplier that makes the seats and rails. Not a good design I agree with you
I actually love that feature where it stops you from backing up into things. And the all around camera is awesome. And the all around sensors are awesome. The perfect park, every time! Here are a few things I ding in my Platinum. And I do also love the car. 1. It's Platinum. Shouldn't the auto dimming mirror have a home link button on it? 2. Whenever I park, I hit the cam button, looking for that perfect park. I seem to have to hit it 2 or 3 times to get it to appear. 3. I like my center screen to have the driving computer. Why can't it default to that? Whenever you turn on driver assist, the center screen goes to a different screen, and you have to click back to the one you want. 4. Speaking of center screen, on the Platinum, you get the digital dash. You can shrink the main gauges, leaving room for two center screens, between the tach and the speedometer. I already said I like the driving computer as my center screen, so what do they pair that up with as center screen #2? A generic picture of my car. Not a compass. Not my music playing. Not my GPS. That's a fail. 5. The only thing I've turned off is the auto speed limit feed to the cruise control. A, I pick my speed. B, it's not ready for prime time. Two examples. In Iowa, it's speed limit 70, minimum 45, on the freeways. It reads the 45, sometimes. Fail. Another example, if you drive though a small town, you might slow from 55 to 35. Fine. But coming out of the small town, the only sign you might see is something like "resume highway speed" and not "55." You're never going to speed up, relying on this feature. 6. The accessory mode is 10 minutes, and it shuts off. The wife is at a doctor appointment and I sit out in the car, listening to music, reading a book. Every 10 minutes, hit the button to start up accessory more, again. I haven't found a way to adjust that. But all these things are minor, just as your issues are. I do love the car. Because my issues with the Honda Accord I traded in were more than minor.
Any functioning remote start will require the car locked and or alarmed and the delay is for obvious reasons otherwise a baby could start it and you may not know. Don't all babies like to play with keys? It is idiot-proofed so starting is not too easy. Man people have it way too good nowadays to be concerned about a slight delay. You all know, like a pocket dial..right?
What do you think of the keyless gas cap? What i do not like from this feature is the safety from vandals. A person can just go to your car in the parking lot and push in a water bottle and put some water in your gas tank. Or using a gas canister with non-gas liquid. There should be a feature where you can lock the gas door. Tried to open the gas door with the key fob nowhere near it and the engine is off and the car is locked. Was able to open the gas door and receptacle. Gets me thinking.
Ya it does not lock no matter what you do…. Kind of disappointing but what I might do is buy a locking gas cap, like the actual cap itself. You can get ones that have locks built in if you really feel the need for it. But ya stupid that it doesn’t come with that feature
I have had issues with remote start as well whether its with the fob or the NissanConnect app. It seems to be random. Another minor annoyance is the display in the centre sometimes takes a minute or two to "boot". I really don't like the lane assist as where I live we have very curvy roads and apparently the car and I disagree on how to corner. Overall the car is great. For the sliding cargo in the trunk, maybe try Velcro strips. I have a trunk organizer and a roadside safety kit that have strips on the bottom and they don't slide around... might help. Thanks for the vid.
Ya I totally know what you mean with cornering lol I have the same issue. I left the steering wheel vibration on but the actual lane keep intervention where it pulls you back into the lane I turned off. That can get dangerous in my opinion lol
Wow! I get worse fuel economy starting it and letting it warm up in -30. going around town is not good as well but once I’m on the highway it loves it. I reset it most times when I’m on my trips. I went down a large mountain and got 3.5L/100
Thanks for this video. It helps me alot. I have my appointment today to get my new SV Rogue. And now, it’s making me smile. Is it gonna be annoying for me? Since I already know what is wrong with it because of your video. Uhm! Will see. Thank you.
OMG thank you for this, I am looking to buy a new car. I test drove one today, he could not get the car to remote start the car. I also think the blind spot on the mirror is to small to even notice it. That was another issue for me.
Lmao you must be new. It’s not hard to read an owners manual….. what do you think I’m actually that stupid? Lmao I’ve been working on and driving cars for over 15 years. Also was a mechanic for a long time so it’s not that people don’t know how to press a button or two it’s the vehicle
With your remote start u have to push the lock button twice then the start button it works for me, I start my car from the house and car in garage at least 25ft away.!!!
Thank you, you hit every pinpoint in this video. I purchased a 4WD SV and it does exactly everything you said within five months of having this car. Thank you thank you so much for this video because I just recently had that problem with the blackout screen and mines would not turn back on for nothing. But did you ever take your Nissan back to get check for the screen problem.
No I haven’t taken it in but it has happen a total of two times in 9 months so far so I’m not that worried. Just hold the power button and it resets. It’s a common problem on Nissan vehicles.
@@SmokinMonkeyOG Hi which power button are you referring to fix this issue? The one to start the car or is there a power button on the audio? Getting my new rogue next week & want to be prepared. Thanks
Shit I already did the pedal mod where you cut the floor out behind the gas pedal to get it to go light speed! I think I’ll need a whole sausage, the egg is much too small
I just got my platinum yesterday. Love it except for two things. I can’t figure out how to connect with wireless Apple CarPlay even the dealer didn’t know how too. Do you know ? Also the doesn’t lock when I walk away. Is there a way to activate this?
@@SolidSnake-bt8eq automatic lock when you are away is not on this car..connecting wireless apple CarPlay is through Bluetooth..turn on both Bluetooth..then connect it
@@SolidSnake-bt8eq u have to connect your USB cable to your phone then to one of the outlets and thats how it connects to the apple car play or android car play for your navigation and all your voice commands thru your phone But if you just want music and call and some texting than that connects thru Bluetooth But if you want all the features from the apple or android car play you have to use the USB cable and it changes your phone too at the same time and you have to download the car play app and set it up and your phone won't let you use it while it's connected to the car thru car play
That’s not what my owners manual says or the dealer. I’m not saying you’re wrong but they should have correct information. Seems like even Nissan doesn’t know how to use the features on these things
That is strange, I recently purchased a 2021 rogue SL and the manual says to press the “lock” button twice and hold the “remote start” button for Atleast 2 seconds. Little worried about the screen works fine as of now and I purchased used with low miles, 15k, many scratches on the back door, makes sense with the slopes🤔
Lane Keep...It's much better than the Honda Accord I traded in. No, it's still not perfect. Are any cars? My personal ding is that it's always beeping. BEEP, lane assist comes on, BEEP, lane assist goes off. I can see the light going on and off. I don't need the beeping. I (especially my wife trying to nap on a trip) wish I could turn off the sound.
same with my 2019 nissan sentra, i was hoping they would have the problem fixed by now. seems to be also an electrical problem bc it affects my wireless charger also and my toyota never had that problem
I love my Platinum 2021. No issues so far. Not sure why your mileage is so bad in the city. I’m getting around 28MPG (us gallons). On a road trip I got 40.1 MPG, and close to 570 miles on my tank. I do agree the lane keep assist is a bit aggressive, but not nearly as bad as my friends RAV4.
And not nearly as bad as the Honda Accord. An example which my Platinum passed, but my old Accord failed. A highway expanding to 4 lanes and splitting apart with a median. I get lazy and not hit the turn signal when I move right, because it's a new lane, and there's no traffic in it. My Accord would think I'm driving off the road, and slam on the brakes! My new Rogue? Nothing. It's cool. But I agree, I can feel it a little more, keeping you centered in the lane. But nothing I can't overcome.
Great video and the remote start on the platinum is definitely a pain. I typically have to lock, start, lock, start a few times before it remotely starts from 20 feet away.
a v4 is genuinely slo but its pretty peppy for a v4 so just turn on sports mode when you need to speed up quicker and turn off the assist its new tech it wont be perfect
Have you tried running it on 89 or 93? The compression ratio is 12:1 so it might be worth while to run it on mid to premium. I run my frontier on 89 and it gave me almost 100 extra kms per tank.
@@SmokinMonkeyOG yeah it didn't help me immediately but after like 3 fill ups it started to work. I think it takes the ecu a while before it adjusts the timing to suit the fuel.
@@jordanaraujo2579 or you could just drive the car easier and don't use the auto climate control because that runs the ac compressor even when it's cold. Just use the regular heat and set your own fan speed and create the ac button on then off because it will still be on even when the light isn't showing. Also don't idle ever and use 2k rpm or less when in the city. Also try 2 coast and nkt hit the brakes hard.
Thanks but one can find things they hate about any vehicle. I hate my Dodge Ram Laramie for may reasons but still love it. We call it "love hate" relationship.
I didn’t choose this vehicle so I’m giving my non biased opinion. I actually don’t like this thing and I’m on year 4 of driving it and would pray for anyone who actually spent their own money on one.
There’s ONE thing that bugs me and it’s the drivers seat. I seem to slide to the right because I rest elbow on middle seat console and the cushion on seat hurts my right side of my back! Even if I keep both hands on wheel I still feel that bump on my back. Maybe seat is meant for skinny drivers???
Agreed but it’s still technically an entry level vehicle because they start at around 30k it’s not going to be as nice as it’s infinity counterpart that they would rather sell you for 50-60k
Mine doesn’t start sometimes either. April 2021 purchase. Mine also seems to have transmission problems. When I’m in park and switch to drive from reverse or from park the rpms are going high and the car isn’t doing a normal acceleration. I have to turn the car off and on to get it to work. I’ll be taking it in to have Nissan check it.
@@nicholasmcdonough6835 ... How does this buy back works, they will pay you back exactly what you've paid for the car originally??? ... If that's the case, then, i will return mine. bought in March/2022.
Ya it’s true but it’s not a common thing here where I live for people to mess with your gas tank. Unless you piss someone off and they target you then it’s a different story
I just got my platinum yesterday. Love it except for two things. I can’t figure out how to connect with wireless Apple CarPlay even the dealer didn’t know how too. Do you know ? Also my car doesn’t auto lock when I walk away. Is not a feature?
first thing to do is erase all connection you already have in you radio and iphone. when you connect the iphone on your car on bluetooth the radio appears one message said if you want text, contact etc on your radio at that time you have to press no and then the radio start the process to connect apple car play. i hope this really can help you.
I have had screen issues including the HUD going out from time to time. I have reset the infotainment at least once by holding the power button until it resets. My biggest issue is the map not using the more common street names and using regional road numbers instead, most I have never heard of. Very confusing. The alerts can be annoying.
I have that same thing with my phone gps I think it’s just how it’s programmed. Not sure about the car unless you’re using car play to pull maps from the phone. I don’t have the gps built into mine.
I wonder if it stops so you don't hit something, but also so you have room to open the trunk. Also, what about the trunk button. Is there one inside the car or on the fob, or is it simply you have to open from the outside?
No trunk button on fob or inside. Only on the rear tailgate. There’s one to u lock the tailgate and a smaller round button beside it to unlock/lock the entire vehicle from the back. Plus each door has a button to lock/unlock the entire vehicle.
Very very very helpful honest Analysis from an Original User/Driver (Not Profi Fairy Tale tellers of all art) , that I was looking for !!! Especially, because you continue to like the car, but at the same time : `` I noticed these issues`` Rogue=X-Trail is Nr. 1 in my short list, but the things, that you noticed , made me a little bit sceptical ! Any way, a Big Fat !!Thank You!! from Athens-GRE
Great video! I have a question on starting the engine outside of the car with the fob - when I’m getting into the car, and it’s already running, will it take the drive or reverse shift? My Chevy Trax doesn’t - I have to turn it of and press the engine button again … Thanks!
It won’t let you shift, even if you press the accelerator it shuts off. If you try to shift it shuts off. You have to remote start then get in and press start with the key on you then it will shift
Unrelated comment/question here. Did you drive the previous Rogue? What do you think about the 2021 seat comfort? How does it feel compared to the previous gen? I was sold on the zero gravity seat technology. But to be honest, I think I'm kinda disappointed. The seat is not soft enough, the cushions are not thick enough, and it doesn't feel like there is memory foam in it. Only looks nice due to the leather. My 2020 Civic has softer seat cushions that feel like memory foam.
I haven’t driven the previous generation enough to tell you which seats are better but they do get better after a few months of use. They break in and get a bit more soft and comfortable as you use them. Hope that makes sense lol
I have the cloth seats but I’ve hear from many people that the leather seats take longer to break in or are harder. Which makes sense the leather is a more robust and stronger material
I also drive with my lane helper off. I weigh over 350 lbs and I'm getting over 30 mpg driving mine. I think you aren't as economical a driver as you think you are. Also, why do you have your seat so low? You'll have a lot more visibility if you raise your seat up my man :-) You saying that your screen died for a bit scares me man. Last thing: the doors have a "no drinks!" sign on them, even though it's clearly shaped like a damn drink holder. I think this is just another America being too American thing though lol.
No. I used to be a mechanic for years and if someone tells you that take your car somewhere else. Oil change is always same price just changes if your car takes more oil that another car.
I have a 2021 rogue have had it for eight weeks it has already done it but you almost have to reboot it like a computer and push both buttons in the tuning button and the volume button hold it for 10 seconds it turns right back on
Sounds like there’s a key fob in the car somewhere or you’re doors aren’t all closed properly maybe. If both those don’t help I would take it to the dealer
Can anyone tell me about the manual seat adjustment? Does it raise and lower the seat height? Can’t find a video showing this. Not sure about giving up power seats 🤨
I sit with the seat at its lowest position. I don’t find them to be any bigger than the seats in a Honda Civic. Other than a pickup truck there aren’t any vehicles I’ve driven that my shoulders don’t spill out the sides of the seat.
Anyone watching this had their 21 for awhile and can comment on the AC/heat system? My neighbor has a 22 and he complains that there is something weird about how it works. He has to play with the temp a lot to get it to do what he wants. Took it to the dealership, they don't have a fix.
@@SmokinMonkeyOG I guess that's good to hear, I'm looking at possible purchase of a 21. I spoke to my neighbor and he said what happens is that at times he has really cold AC at 70 degrees but if he wants just a tad of less cold, he bumps up to 71 or 72, nothing happens, it stays same cold. He has to go all the way to like 76 to feel any change...then after maybe 20 secs, it's too warm. He has to fiddle back n forth with it till it finally settles in where he wants. But his is a 22, maybe with the new turbo engine he has, the AC is somewhat different too? Anyway, thanks for saying yours in your 2021 works as you would expect it to.
Have you had any issues with the climate control? Specifically setting the temperature? Whenever I have the ac running and the temperature above "lo" it gets warm. I don't set it that far off from cold. I usually set it to 65ish
If it’s warm out then it blows cold with the AC on until about 75. But if it’s cold out it will blow warm starting at about 65. Don’t know why but that’s how it is in my rogue lol
It’s definitely an SV but I think I do have the premium package I honestly have no idea what packages it has since it’s a company car I didn’t get to order it myself. But I do know it’s an SV
Not amazing. I’ve had times where I had to turn the traction control off because it won’t let you spin your tires and in more than an inch of snow you need to spin to get out of the snow sometimes and it doesn’t allow you to do it very easily unless you turn off traction control.
@@boarhog1979 this is true, but out of the many vehicles I've driven and owned this one totally cuts power under any slip in snow and makes it a real pain in the ass unless you turn it off. some other cars will still let you slip a bit at least
@@SmokinMonkeyOG I agree. I have an Altima that does this and even a 2018 4x4 Sprinter that does the same. Likewise, I don't like it. It is akin to a pilot that can only fly with an auto pilot.
@@SmokinMonkeyOG I just bought the new rogue and plan to disable the I-LI straight away. I would only use this if I was driving long distances at night, especially. The LDW is always good though
What do you think to the brown on dash and top of doors? Looks like it really stands out in this video - dunno wtf they did this? Should have stuck with all black and also add black headliner
I HATE it! Almost the deal breaker for me. The options that came with mine outweighed other dealers. So the gross brow I have to live with. Also the sales person @ Kitchener Nissan tried to BS me that it was made with a different material for acoustics and a more quiet ride. (Hence why i didn't purchase from there)
I’ll try it and let you know. I’m not sure. I know that you can get it to hold neutral and be able to leave the vehicle without it automatically shifting to park when you open the door. But that’s with engine running. I’ll test your method
@@SmokinMonkeyOG thank you, i’d like to know for example if the car stop in the middle of a road there is a way to unlock the gearbox or if it goes in neutral with dashboard on
My 2021 Nissan rogue rear glass exploded outward. It happened when I got to work. Sitting in the car for 15 minutes n boom. I'm the only person in the parking lot at work. It's other stories of this online as well. Nissan will replace the glass with warranty but they won't even offer me a loaner cat. They are full of shit.
Damn wtf!? That’s insane I hope I don’t experience this myself. Sorry to hear you had to go through this. Nissan dealer near me is the worst group of people I’ve ever met. Zero help and constantly making mistakes a 8 year old could figure out. I don’t understand how they’re still doing business
If you have the premium version I think you can get built in navigation with maps and gps. But I use Apple car play, you can use android as well. When you plug your phone in you can use your google maps and any other map apps you have in your phone
To be honest I have to check I don’t know if it is or not. It this week I’m getting a software update for the rogue from Nissan. Whatever that does we’ll see lol
i just did an oil change on my wifes 21' rogue. there is 24 popit fasners and two 10mm bolt have to be removed just to get to the filter and drain bolt. ridiculous waste of time. it slams on the breaks if you open the door at low speed. stupid lane warnings. its like it made for people that dont know how to drive. i hate it. screw Nissan. i just need a flap for the oil is that too much to ask?
I could hear a "bump" every time the wheels passed over a tar joint. Is it quiet in the cab or noisy ? You could always put a cheap mat in the cargo area. It protects the original mat and would probably stop the slip side problem you have. Home Depot has them for around $40 ..
@@SmokinMonkeyOG Thanks for the reply. My RAV4 lease is up in July and I plan to have a serious look at the Nissan Rogue. The SV offers a lot of features for the price..
1. Cargo Net, 2. Use the other remote, 3. Turn off Assists, 4. I think you can back up to within 1 foot. I really enjoy my 4wd SV.
My manual states lock once. My dealer also says lock once so not sure where you read this but I’ve checked multiple sources and multiple times.
@@SmokinMonkeyOG There may be a difference between the Rogues made in America vs the ones made in Japan. Mine is made in Japan. I wish I could post an image from my manual or the help guide so you could see the instructions in my section 3.
The confusion may be in the guide. It mentions to press button 1 twice and it looks like you may just need to press it once.
The issue with lane assist is not unique to the Nissan. I have a 2021 Subaru that has the same behavior. I think that is the state of the technology right now. Some have suggested that it is best used when traveling on highways, rather than local driving.
Turn signal is required
1) standard gear shift
2) a display screen thats not an awkward tablet.
Remote start: hit lock twice and then remote start. Works every time for me.
Must be lucky or have an unobstructed view to the vehicle because mine and a lot of other people have this issue
I just traded in a cx-5 for this model because the pickup and sport mode. I love all the storage space and trunk compared to cx-5.
That complaint about the trunk having a slope is ridiculous, just use some bungie cords!
Your response is ridiculous. I shouldn’t have to use bungee cords in an enclosed trunk in a SUV. This isn’t a truck bed
The neutral in a carwash thing just happened to me yesterday. They had to shut the entire carwash down because I was stuck.
I love my 2019 SL, it gets 26mpg in the city & 33.4mpg on the highway.
To start it just press lock button once then the start up button for 3 seconds
I think I need a new fob. I always hold the start button for like 6seconds and nothing happens I just keep waiting lol
@@SmokinMonkeyOG press lock then press & hold remote start button for 5+ seconds
@@781luis This is correct. The car needs to be locked and alarmed and the delay is so kids don't start it.
That’s why it’s the price it is lmfao don’t expect much for 30k these days
#3 boot - i think you can put a rubber cargo tray to prevent stuff sliding all over the boot
Just curious why did you switch from the camaro? It sounds like you had a nice ride
Ya I hear that I have a money pit Jeep too lol
I agree 100%, ... I have turned it all off too, it's very, very annoying and even dangerous, it can even cause a heart attack on some people with heart issues.
I just have to add that just watching the first few minutes the screen issue is actually common, Nissan has a big issue with them, we’ve had them replaced in every Nissan we’ve owned pretty much since they changed them
You forgot to include putting vehicle on neutral it’s do annoying when I have to thru car wash and it won’t work
it does work you have to not press the button on the side
It has about a 2 second time delay. Just gentle push it forward and hold it until N comes on.
Guess I’ll have to live with it as it is for now
My company car’s lane keep does same thing. Driving on country roads is treacherous using lane keep. I did what you did and turned it off.
I know of no other car, except a Peugot 504 from the early '70s that did that.
All the Japanese vehicles I’ve owned do this. It’s not a new thing lol
I agree, the 2018 had a lock and it does have me worried.
Every Nissan I have ever had you need to lock it twice and then hold the remote start button
That’s not what it tells you in the owners manual when I checked
I drove to another province, about 950kms for 70$ in fuel was not bad. My fuel economy went down from 7 to 4.9L per 100kms.
I’m yet to see my fuel economy go below 10 per 100
Uhm! Will see. Thank you.
I’m sure you will love it! It’s a great vehicle and I still enjoy mine a ton!
What does it means when there’s a green sing in your dash ?
Not sure what you mean but if you google it the you’ll most likely find the answer
OMG thank you for this, I am looking to buy a new car. I test drove one today, he could not get the car to remote start the car. I also think the blind spot on the mirror is to small to even notice it. That was another issue for me.
No problem lol
Remote start is easy he must he new
Lmao you must be new. It’s not hard to read an owners manual….. what do you think I’m actually that stupid? Lmao I’ve been working on and driving cars for over 15 years. Also was a mechanic for a long time so it’s not that people don’t know how to press a button or two it’s the vehicle
The screen black out has happened to me in multiple cars and multiple brands, my old 2019 Kia Optima my in law Hyundai Elantra, and my cousin BMW.
It was my first time so thought I’d make the video but it seems like it’s pretty common. Thanks for the feedback!
With your remote start u have to push the lock button twice then the start button it works for me, I start my car from the house and car in garage at least 25ft away.!!!
That’s not what my manual or my salesperson told me. And if the owners manual tells me lock once it should work
Thank you, you hit every pinpoint in this video.
Thanks
Audio. Same button as volume. Just hold the knob down and it resets the infotainment and everything
As to your stuff sliding aft, there's a very easy solution. Secure a raw egg to the gas pedal, either on top or underneath.
Shit I already did the pedal mod where you cut the floor out behind the gas pedal to get it to go light speed! I think I’ll need a whole sausage, the egg is much too small
I love my platinum..no issues aside from being so awesome 😎 hahhaha

You have to hit the lock button twice and then hold the start , That's how it's supposed to work
That’s not what my owners manual says or the dealer. I’m not saying you’re wrong but they should have correct information. Seems like even Nissan doesn’t know how to use the features on these things
@@SmokinMonkeyOG I just bought one in April and that"s how they showed me to do it and it works perfectly fine , I did enjoy watching your video
For the remote start, you should press the lock button twice and then the start button for at least 2 seconds
Manual states press lock once and hold remote start for 5 seconds
That is strange, I recently purchased a 2021 rogue SL and the manual says to press the “lock” button twice and hold the “remote start” button for Atleast 2 seconds. Little worried about the screen works fine as of now and I purchased used with low miles, 15k, many scratches on the back door, makes sense with the slopes🤔
Not sure if you’re in the states and there’s a difference between the Canadian model but my owners manual says press lock once
@@SmokinMonkeyOG yes that makes sense, I am in the states may be a difference there.
Seems like rogue are bad for their touchscreens. I have 2018 Nissan Rogue I’ve had issues from time to time with mine.
same with my 2019 nissan sentra, i was hoping they would have the problem fixed by now. seems to be also an electrical problem bc it affects my wireless charger also and my toyota never had that problem
Ya they have a few bugs to figure out that’s for sure
Trust me I've experienced the same 4 things but not the info screen going out. Overall it's pretty good vehicle so far. Thanks for the info
I have a heavy foot lol 😂
And not nearly as bad as the Honda Accord. An example which my Platinum passed, but my old Accord failed. A highway expanding to 4 lanes and splitting apart with a median. I get lazy and not hit the turn signal when I move right, because it's a new lane, and there's no traffic in it. My Accord would think I'm driving off the road, and slam on the brakes! My new Rogue? Nothing. It's cool. But I agree, I can feel it a little more, keeping you centered in the lane. But nothing I can't overcome.
How do you access or bring up the miles per gallon on the dashboard?
Great video and the remote start on the platinum is definitely a pain. I typically have to lock, start, lock, start a few times before it remotely starts from 20 feet away.
Ya so I guess it’s not just me lol good to know lol
Its easy. Press lock then press & hold top button for 5 long secs. Easy
@@781luis on mine it doesn’t just work like that.
Lmao we know the procedure it’s the car not recognizing or receiving the signal to start
Same, I have a platinum and it is a pain!!
The trunk situation is normal. Your key fob is fine just go and fix it.
a v4 is genuinely slo but its pretty peppy for a v4 so just turn on sports mode when you need to speed up quicker and turn off the assist its new tech it wont be perfect
Have you tried running it on 89 or 93? The compression ratio is 12:1 so it might be worth while to run it on mid to premium. I run my frontier on 89 and it gave me almost 100 extra kms per tank.
I tried it didn’t make a difference to be honest. Burned quicker if anything. In all my other cars I run premium but it doesn’t help the TJ lol
@@SmokinMonkeyOG yeah it didn't help me immediately but after like 3 fill ups it started to work. I think it takes the ecu a while before it adjusts the timing to suit the fuel.
Hmmm maybe I should give it another shot
Awesome review dude..Thanks
Car suspension on Rogue 2021 is a little better than others, but still not good as it should be.
Good luck! Has been happening to me since June, and it has been in the shop 6x. I am in the process of a buy back with Nissan due to this problem.
Shit sorry to hear that
M. Did Nissan permanently correct your engine/transmission issues?
@@nicholasmcdonough6835 ... How does this buy back works, they will pay you back exactly what you've paid for the car originally??? ... If that's the case, then, i will return mine. bought in March/2022.
I was locked out of my Nissan Rogue, the key fob was inside.. The Car was running. Explain that. I had to go home get other key fob to get in again.
Gas tank no cap and no lock? Can be vandalized so easily. Im hearing that a lot. Is that true?
Ya it’s true but it’s not a common thing here where I live for people to mess with your gas tank. Unless you piss someone off and they target you then it’s a different story
This has become common in many a car. I rent and experience this in Honda, Toyota, Nissan & others.
I don't think auto lock is. I had that in my last car and I turned it off. I haven't noticed it in my Platinum.
The fob battery needs replacement when it's not reading pushing the button .That is my experience
When parking maybe changing the sensitivity level ?Well hopefully
I wonder if it stops so you don't hit something, but also so you have room to open the trunk. Also, what about the trunk button. Is there one inside the car or on the fob, or is it simply you have to open from the outside?
No trunk button on fob or inside. Only on the rear tailgate. There’s one to u lock the tailgate and a smaller round button beside it to unlock/lock the entire vehicle from the back. Plus each door has a button to lock/unlock the entire vehicle.
My Nissan Rogue 2021 has trunk open on FOB also inside by hood button and also outside at door
Probably a higher trim level with auto open and close trunk. Mine is only manual
Yeah, my 2021 SL has it on the FOB and you can both open and close the tailgate using the FOB.
Very very very helpful honest Analysis from an Original User/Driver (Not Profi Fairy Tale tellers of all art) , that I was looking for !!!
Especially, because you continue to like the car, but at the same time : `` I noticed these issues``
Rogue=X-Trail is Nr. 1 in my short list, but the things, that you noticed , made me a little bit sceptical ! Any way, a Big Fat !!Thank You!! from Athens-GRE
Thanks man!
Good to know, the 2022 Ford Maverick AWD XLT w/the old style keyed ignition is what I'm really hoping for...you gave me a heads-up there, thanks.
It works!!! Thank you sooooo much!!!!!!
Do you recommend it? Personally I love it.
Yes I do! It’s a great vehicle for sure and nothing is perfect lol. I have a list of 10 things I love about the Rogue I’ll be posting soon as well!
@@SmokinMonkeyOG Thanks. And yes that makes sense, just like leather shoes or jacket. Otherwise, this leather seats are too firm.
I have the cloth seats but I’ve hear from many people that the leather seats take longer to break in or are harder. Which makes sense the leather is a more robust and stronger material
@@SmokinMonkeyOG I'll try to update here after a few months. Hopefully I remember 😀
I drove a 2016 Rogue S before my current 2021 Rogue SL. The seat quality is quite comfortable.
Thank you for the information 🙏
Do you have to pay more for a oil change cause it takes more time to take the cover off and back on because there are so many clips?
No. I used to be a mechanic for years and if someone tells you that take your car somewhere else. Oil change is always same price just changes if your car takes more oil that another car.
I have a 2021 rogue have had it for eight weeks it has already done it but you almost have to reboot it like a computer and push both buttons in the tuning button and the volume button hold it for 10 seconds it turns right back on
Ive had similar issues as you with the screen. Sometimes it doesnt come on when i start the car.
2021 Nissan rogue--my car chimes 6 times even though there is nothing in the back seat
Sounds like there’s a key fob in the car somewhere or you’re doors aren’t all closed properly maybe. If both those don’t help I would take it to the dealer
Bring your car to the dealership especially for the electronics and cargo slope issue. Post an update if you haven't all ready.
All the things u said im Experiment the same things all of it I have the 2021 platinum awd
Can anyone tell me about the manual seat adjustment? Does it raise and lower the seat height? Can’t find a video showing this. Not sure about giving up power seats 🤨
you’re supposed to ut thinhs close to the front of the trunk so it wont slide around
The fabulous life of technology lol 😂
Place the camera in the back, talk about 20 mins and realize you did not hit the record button properly.
How tall are you? Or are the seats huge?
6’1”
Those seats must be huge
I sit with the seat at its lowest position. I don’t find them to be any bigger than the seats in a Honda Civic. Other than a pickup truck there aren’t any vehicles I’ve driven that my shoulders don’t spill out the sides of the seat.
How do I turn off the 6 chimes when I leave my purse in the car?
Sounds like the key is still in the car and you’re trying to lock it possibly
Anyone watching this had their 21 for awhile and can comment on the AC/heat system? My neighbor has a 22 and he complains that there is something weird about how it works. He has to play with the temp a lot to get it to do what he wants. Took it to the dealership, they don't have a fix.
I’m on year 4 of driving mine and never had a problem
@@SmokinMonkeyOG Is yours a 2021 Rogue?
@ofcbob6391 yes
@@SmokinMonkeyOG Have you had transmissions problems like the previous years?
Have you had any issues with the climate control? Specifically setting the temperature?
Whenever I have the ac running and the temperature above "lo" it gets warm. I don't set it that far off from cold. I usually set it to 65ish
If it’s warm out then it blows cold with the AC on until about 75. But if it’s cold out it will blow warm starting at about 65. Don’t know why but that’s how it is in my rogue lol
Currently having that issue omg hate it 😒
Yes - absolutely annoying!
Are you sure its a sv? I see some leather and it seems like an SL to me, trust me I own a SL. Or is it the premium package sv?
It’s definitely an SV but I think I do have the premium package I honestly have no idea what packages it has since it’s a company car I didn’t get to order it myself. But I do know it’s an SV
@@SmokinMonkeyOG Yeah I think it's the premium package since it's got heated seats
Are the seats cloth or Leather?
I just purchased 2021 SL. How do you find the MPG indicator? Thanks.

Hey guys 5 things I hate about the car. I dont really hate the car, dislike the car...🤔🤔
5 things I hate ‘about the car’ not ‘5 reasons I hate the car’.
Hey! how this fwd version performing in snow condition?
Not amazing. I’ve had times where I had to turn the traction control off because it won’t let you spin your tires and in more than an inch of snow you need to spin to get out of the snow sometimes and it doesn’t allow you to do it very easily unless you turn off traction control.
@@SmokinMonkeyOG This is common in all vehicles. Traction control is not really necessary if one knows how to throttle correctly
Personally I like it. It’s different. Not sure how it will look with age but I think it looks good

I love the brown/black combo! It’s classy and different...like me LOL!
Seriously, I am really impressed with my 2021!
I HATE it! Almost the deal breaker for me. The options that came with mine outweighed other dealers. So the gross brow I have to live with. Also the sales person @ Kitchener Nissan tried to BS me that it was made with a different material for acoustics and a more quiet ride. (Hence why i didn't purchase from there)
i find what works ever thing will work engine lights disconect pos side of the battery its a computer some times needs to be rebooted

Omg THANK U for this video! I’m contemplating the vehicle and you were a tremendous help! Awesome!
Glad I could help!
I have a question, with the engine off and dashboard on, the gearbox go in neutral?

In that video I was using a gopro hero 7 black. But I recently started using the gopro hero 10 black. Why is it good or bad? Lol

I just use the app to start mines instead of dealing with the fob
I’ve tried that but it takes forever. 2-3 minutes each time
@@SmokinMonkeyOG ... Which app you guys are talking about???
The Nissan connect app
It is possible to get a map on the radio screen?
If you have the premium version I think you can get built in navigation with maps and gps. But I use Apple car play, you can use android as well. When you plug your phone in you can use your google maps and any other map apps you have in your phone
Is the screen under warranty it should be

i just did an oil change on my wifes 21' rogue. there is 24 popit fasners and two 10mm bolt have to be removed just to get to the filter and drain bolt. ridiculous waste of time. it slams on the breaks if you open the door at low speed. stupid lane warnings. its like it made for people that dont know how to drive. i hate it. screw Nissan. i just need a flap for the oil is that too much to ask?
It is only second to crv in. He is stating stuff without actually comparing before comlainkng
Okay but this time in English
I could hear a "bump" every time the wheels passed over a tar joint.
Is it quiet in the cab or noisy ? You could always put a cheap mat in the cargo area. It protects the original mat and would probably stop the slip side problem you have.
Home Depot has them for around $40 ..
It’s really not that bad. Some road noise but not much. I’ll try the mat out and see if it helps.
