An interesting fact about Cars is Radiator springs is based on an actual town, Holbrook Arizona. While the people who wrote the movie were traveling, they got off of the interstate into a little town that goes through route 66 and that's how the story was created. There is a restaurant in Holbrook called Joe & Aggies and that's where they stopped to eat, In the film you can see the same restaurant. Also, the Cone Hotel is based on the Wigwam Hotel in Holbrook. And there is so many other spotting of Holbrook in the movie. I find it really interesting how nobody really knows that Cars is based on an actual place. I really like to tell people about this because Holbrook is my hometown and that's how I know so much about this. Also, at one point we used to have life sized Lightning McQueen and Motor in town as a tourist attraction.
I have a broken down 2000 Dodge Durango that I just can't bring myself to give up on because it's my last vehicle that my son got to ride in before he passed away from cancer nearly 3 years ago. He also loved this movie - in fact, Make-A-Wish sent us to Disneyland and we got to ride the rides, and even have pictures with Lightning McQueen and Marter! I love your reaction to this, and to all the movies you watch!
the ferrari scene with luigi and guido is missed by many including me. The voice actor of the red f430 is michael schumacher himself, former f1 driver and 7 time world champion. Only other guy who's achieved that is lewis hamilton.
The king was voice by legendary race car driver Richard petty, the crash scene was actually based on one of his own crashes. Back in his day, you risked your life the moment you got in your car and he was one of the lucky ones to have survived those days.
Part of Cars is based off history. Route 66 used to be one of the only routes from Chicago to Los Angeles. Many towns were built along this route. When the interstate was built, many of the towns got bypassed just to save a little time. And many towns went under because of this.
The guy that played Mater is Larry The Cable Guy and most of his humor is along the lines of Mater’s humor, though he gets a bit more PG-13, with as much as you enjoy Mater, you should check him out, I think you’d love him!
That name Mater is actually from an old joke of his which he uses once more in the movie the original joke was he was talking to a person who said Mater "like tomater but without the to"
The history of the Hudson Hornet even down to racing decals is based on real NASCAR history, they were the kings of NASCAR from 51 to 54, though the reason they stopped racing them is different. Hudson had to merge with another company. The racing program was scrapped and not long after the Hudson brand was discontinued.
9:00 The old cars here were the Car Talk brothers, Tom and Ray Magliozzi, from National Public Radio, who would make very entertaining, mildly-educated and sometimes correct guesses about people's car problems who called in to their show from 1977 to 2012. They always signed off with "don't drive like my brother". Ton died in 2014.
I remember that show. RIP, Tom. NPR is huge in California, and should be more so in the rest of the country. Such a rich resource of valuable information and entertainment, rather than the aimless chittering of commercial radio.
The dedication to Joe Ranft (Red in this movie) at the end of this movie always brings tears to me eyes. He was a part of my life from my earliest childhood in the Brave little Toaster through to this film.
"Why are farts so funny?" IDK Leo but I'm 61, I've seen the tractor farting scene dozens of times and it still makes me laugh, it's ridiculous. Mater is absolutely the best part of this movie.
36:24 Wow I never noticed before but look at Mater. so young and clean not a scratch on him. I think he took the town bypass the hardest. no other car aged like he did.
I noticed it when I first saw it. This is not a brag because this was what started my interest in small details in films, and I loved pointing these out to people. Now, Ima EWU Film Graduate. I legit forgot how this movie helped shape me.
Dang I didn’t think about it hitting him hardest. He must’ve been so sad to lose all the friendly travelers Not saying we *need* more Cars movies, but I’m curious about a Radiatorsprings related prequel
People didn't drive to make good time, they drove to have a good time. We've lost that sentiment these days. Sunday drives as a kid would take us anywhere, from visits to family, to children's museums, anything was possible. The whole point was just to explore. I miss that
Want to donate me a truck? I am also a Texas. But with no vehicle 😢. I want a vehicle to find me a better job out of my city instead my current Job walking to work and the closer of living is making me mad.. ( harder to get a vehicle when everything is now costly)
Yeah, the story of Radiator Springs is kinda the story of Route 66, and other state routes, where Route 66 was an experience, by itself, with sites to see along the way, cute inns, and the like. Honestly? I wanna drive it, one day. It takes a while, but I think it'd be worth it.
So the really cool part about the king is he was voiced by Richard petty, one of the most famous nascar drivers that drove that type of car and had that number
I got a 90 Honda civic DX, that was my first car that I bought for $1500 next to near amazing condition and I still use her till this day. Also fun fact she is a blue and she became named “Sally” after Sally from this movie
This one was watched at least monthly when I was a kid. As for the car I drive, I've had the same car since college and now I'm almost 30. It's a Honda Accord which isn't the best but it's been faithful all these years.
This was my son's absolute favorite movie for several years! I have probably seen it over 10,000 times and I'm not exaggerating. My son memorized the time stamps! We made a homemade sequel using the die cast vehicles. Was probably better than the actual Cars 2. I'm driving a 2009 Mailibu
I used to pass a car shop in New Hampshire that had a tow truck built like Mater out front. I thought it was just for show but it actually worked and was used as a tow truck. Been gone about 7 years now.
Aside from basic maintenance, those days are gone. Too many electronics to fix your own car without being an actual mechanic and having a $10,000 tool. It's still a really good idea to know the maintenance stuff, though. Pads, roters, belts, plugs, etc.
I just recently bought a 2017 Cadillac CT6 3.0TT Platinum. Yes, I've been to several NASCAR race tracks. I usually have friends go to Talladega (Alabama) first to see some four wide racing at its finest. That being said, if you want to see some good racing that has some right turns too, I highly recommend IMSA Road Atlanta (Georgia). It's a different ballgame than NASCAR. Both series are good, but seeing a Ferrari, Cadillac, Lamborghini, BMW, and more going around a track is so much fun to watch.
Love this movie cause the cars are based on actual racers (and voiced by them) and even covers their actual crashes while teaches it kids etc proper lessons
An interesting fact about Pixar's Cars is that Cars is based off of another movie called Doc Hollywood. (it has been confirmed by some of the animators) Check it out! (But just a warning is not for kids unlike Cars)
If you haven’t seen ratatouille you gotta throw it on the list, it is definitely one of the best Disney movies from this era in my opinion it was such an after thought for Disney until a few years ago.
Wow congrats on getting a car and license👏🏻, plus lately I've been watching your reaction to the SNL cowbell sketch non stop and it has me laughing non stop and like I wonder why it's so funny but then I realized that Will Ferrell the cowbell player can make anything in general naturally funny wether it be likely or weird BTW I've always loved weird things as well as Mator out of the car cast plus nice rhymes at 17:52 and 38:03 haha 🤣💕👍🏻😉
55:26 Not boring in the slightest, this has been my life for nearly 30 years and it happens to be the reason for me not having a driving license yet because everything that I need for my simple life to run fairly smoothly can be walked to in about 10 minutes 🙂.

What's funny is, the history of the *real life* Hudson Hornet matches up with Doc's history. With an exception that Doc wasn't tossed to the curb (sorry) the way he says. NASCAR rules required the cars used to race be based on production vehicles with a minimum number of them produced for sale. Hudson had long been bought up in the consolidation era of the car industry, but the new owners had kept the production open but sales had fallen off and they could not justify building the numbers NASCAR mandated, so the Hudson Hornet was disqualified, but not because nobody wanted him/it to race, but because people weren't buying the street-use ones enough.
I do indeed have a car, worked hard to earn it too. It is a Mercedes-Benz SLK 55 AMG - 2015, I did get it with a lot of optional equipment. I bought it in 2016 and still drive it today, honestly can't see myself changing it. Edit 1: I actually take mine to a reputable Mercedes mechanic. If the car cost me what it did, I'm not playing with tricky mechanics, while rare they do exist.
I've got a 1994 Golf Mk3 and honestly im lucky to of have found good reliable mechanics from my family side. Besides, the parts for this thing are rly cheap, the last fix I did was a new clutch set for 70$ and then about 50$ for fitting and labor. Maintaining this car is rly rly cheap and I love it. Good ole reliable diesel engines too!
Gotta say, over the last year you've definitely become my fave reaction channel. Just love how honest your reactions are and it always relaxes and puts me at ease to see when anxious! So thank you so much for this❤ Plus your facial expressions are always 👌🏻
I've got an original 2011 Nissan leaf made in Japan. It almost never needs any maintenance at all and drives me around a local area to deliver ubereats. I don't need it to do any more than that.
Also highly recommend going to a nascar race they’re very cool to see in person I haven’t been to win since 2016 gotta get back to one next year hopefully

Wow, that's amazing! Thank you for sharing!
i thought it was kingsman arizona theres a wall painted with the cars franchise.
And maters ability to drive in reverse was based off of a resident of Holbrook who has double jointed ankles who can turn his feet around backwards
Weren't the buildings and the town based off multiple towns that were along Route 66?
That's awesome!

the ferrari scene with luigi and guido is missed by many including me. The voice actor of the red f430 is michael schumacher himself, former f1 driver and 7 time world champion. Only other guy who's achieved that is lewis hamilton.
This scene makes me cry now. love that Vettel is in the Italian dub of cars 3, Alonso in the Spanish and Hamilton in the English.
The king was voice by legendary race car driver Richard petty, the crash scene was actually based on one of his own crashes. Back in his day, you risked your life the moment you got in your car and he was one of the lucky ones to have survived those days.
It was actually based on Rusty Wallace’s 1993 flip at Talladega, hate to be that guy but you got it wrong
Part of Cars is based off history. Route 66 used to be one of the only routes from Chicago to Los Angeles. Many towns were built along this route. When the interstate was built, many of the towns got bypassed just to save a little time. And many towns went under because of this.

The King's massive crash also is based in Nascar history. Richard Petty once suffered a serious crash very similar to the one in the movie
The Ferrari that came into Luige's tyre shop was voiced by Michael Schumacher 7 times World F1 Champion! 👍
