- Late this afternoon, the strategically important maker of plastics ethylene and polyethylene - Qenos - called in voluntary administrators.
The collapse follows the sale of the company from its Chinese owner ChemChina to Australian property developer Logos.
The administrator Jason Preston of McGrathNicol said it intends to close Qenos' Botany plant in Sydney but is seeking options to keep open or sell its other plant in Altona, Melbourne.
The collapse is due in part to a lack of reliable supply of gas and a lack of competitiveness for Australian industry.
One Planet Consulting Director Helen Millicer sat down with Sky News Business Editor Ross Greenwood to discuss Qenos calling in administrators.
And this lunatic government wants to make solar panels here, when we can't make plastic cups!
Well done Clownbanese and your Circus. buddies in the ALP
More great reset caused by The Cheif liar.
Save Australian jobs.
Stupidity absurd is modern Australia's mantra.
Albanese great manufacturing boost . Well done Albo . Fail fail fail . 👏
Expecting a modern politician to make a strategic decision is like expecting a goldfish not to shit in in its bowl!
We are such a stupid country
And we let this happen. My God.
Another step close to the Stone Age... the Greens, Teals and ALP must be celebrating!
More people on welfare means more rusted on ALP voters. The only thing that concerns them is political power.
We sell our gas but don’t use it?
This government is culpable
Albonkers and his Clown Posse Strike Again. 😁
So wouldn’t Qenos be a manufacturing company, like what Albo wants to support with taxpayer dollars.
It won’t be eazy under Albosleazy.
Labor must go and go they will
They will incentivise only industry that runs on wind and solar.
The Greens and Just Stop Oil peeps will be happy, until........... it starts to affect them.
Have the administrators been vaxed
