  • Australia is on track to see 10,000 small businesses collapse by the end of June, the worst number in 11 years, Sky News Business Editor Ross Greenwood has revealed.
CreditorWatch has said the number of businesses in external administration has hit a record high.
“In the nine months leading up to the end of March, there’s around 7,700 small businesses that have collapsed, and that’s up 36 per cent,” Mr Greenwood said of the matter.
“That means potentially we are on line to see some ten thousand businesses collapse, in the year to June 30.
“In that case it will be the worst number of businesses that have collapsed in 11 years.”

Ironically it may actually indeed be 'white collar' jobs that are initially more effected then 'blue collar' jobs. However while there are certainly serious concerns about A.I going too far, technological employment disruptions need not necessarily be a major concern provided we have the right economic framework and policies in place.
It could involve direct financial compensation for employees affected, shorter work weeks with no loss of pay (in fact in 1930 economist John Maynard Keynes predicted (too optimistically) that by 2030 the typical work week would be 15 hours per week), some form of Universal Basic Income, some type of Job Guarantee program.
These are just some initiatives that could be used and they could be used in combination with each other. There are a variety of ways we can help ensure that technological advances work for us and not against us.

Ever since COVID 19, people have been working from home and leaving a large number of offices empty in our large cities. Companies have discovered they can still function without having to buy or rent vast amounts of office space. In many of the American big cities, office buildings are 50% vacant. Huge tax revenue losses, mean cuts in law enforcement and other essential services. This tends to spiral out of control because as conditions worsen, more people leave, and taxes rise to make up for revenue losses. - Customer (Customer always right mentality, Negative Google review for unreasonable thing, Crime like stealing or shoplifting is unpunished)
    - Government (Taxes, overtime, super, penalties and no support)
    - Employees (No skill, laziness, claim for mental health and sickie, complaint and many more).
This is the sad reality that we are facing and people don’t understand if the small business gone, there is no more competition for big corporations and they will control the prices with no customer service and it’s not contributing to the economy since they are based in overseas

So the number 1 reason business is collapsing is the cost of electricity. No 2 is the outrageous cost of realestate. No 3 is inflation is moving so fast it's Impossible to quote. No 4 is tax is out of control.

We also don’t buy coffee outside the home anymore either. Not difficult to bring your own especially with the lovely insulated xo tainers availabke these days.
With everyday costs going up, with no end in sight, people are realising that some businesses have no *right* to our money if their *non essential service* becomes unafforable.

I understand where you're coming from and good work eliminating your unnecessary expenses, I really mean that. The problem is that soon the cost of your accommodation and fuel will start to take preference over your food bill. You'll be soon cutting back on food to keep a roof over your head, then you'll be bankrupted by that roof over your head. This will happen to most Australians in a couple if years, we're all being sunk
