While I personally declare myself as a Norse Pagan, I speak on topics that also involve aspects of Asatru, Heathenry, and other pagan identities such as Slavic/Celtic/Germanic paganism.
The Wisdom of Odin is not associated or affiliated with any orginizations religious or politcial in nature. This channel/community is inclusive to all but is also non-political.
All gatherings held through the Wisdom of Odin and its extended community are private events held and organized by the members of the community. The only service the Wisdom of Odin provides is a place to connect with others of similar beliefs in the old ways.

I embrace and enjoy not knowing 100 percent about so many topics in this religion. I feel like it's what makes the norse paganism spirituality feel so alive. It's exciting knowing there's always going to be so much left to explore and talk about in this faith. Thanks Jacob for all the very helpful information and interesting topics that you provide for us 👍

It does seem that any exploration of Norse mythos involves us learning to become comfortable with questions! LOL
More than anything else--thank you for letting me know that I'm not alone in my confusion. Perhaps one of the greatest benefits we get spiritually comes from having to look at these questions from every imaginable angle and finding unexpected nuggets of insight here and there. It's good to be mentally engaged.
As for the 9 realms--I am open to all lines of thought! LOL I suspect the ultimate truth of it may be more complicated and nuanced than we realize at the moment.

Astral projection is an interesting practice, you can visit other "realms" by projecting your consciousness outside your body (or deeper inside, entering your heart is a very healthy practice). A lot of spaces exist in an almost parallel plane, like an alternate Earth, and this kind of space is where you typically start finding elves, spirits of the dead and so forth. Um but it is important to remember that in a lot of these places you will be seen as an intruder trespassing where you don't belong, so be respectful and maybe get in touch with your guides and they'll help you out.

As an amateur historian I find it really interesting that we have so much on some of the realms and practically nothing on the others. I understand that it wasn't typical to write down the practices in their height but it is truly unfortunate that we may never know

I honestly think that the 9 realms are what they perceive as dimensions. If they thought of them as planets I think they would call them as such. As well as I have herd a theory of them possibly having a connection to a pregnancy cycle of months but I don’t think it’s that either. What we do know is they called them realms & that they are connected to each other by one main source that can be traveled. Not trying to get all sci-fi but it makes the most sense at least to me. In scientific study it honestly sounds like string theory.

Even though I don’t personally see that realms as planets, I always describe it to people as if Asgard is a giant golden planet and Gladsheim is a smaller silver moon around it. Midgard is a muddled green planet connected via the Bidfrost and the blue Jotunheim planet is nearby (to the east). I think that personal interpretation is really important and at the end of the day, does it really matter what it really looks like? I honestly don’t believe so. From my view, as long as you are open to differing ideas and are able to grow and learn, who cares if you see Alfheim or Vanaheim as different realms.

I've also have always seen the 9 realms as the solar system. We know the Mayans, Aztecs, Egyptians and other where pretty damn accurate with their astrologic believes so it would be safe to assume that the european tribes would have had more or less the same knowledge on the matter.
Also land is less than a realm. A realm consists of multiple lands.

I probably read WAY too much Sci-Fi...but I have come to think of the 9 realms as parallel universes, and Bifrost as a place where the parallel universe of Asgard and Midgard adjoin. I don't think any of the other realms connect to our own. Only Asgard connects to us, and to enter into Midgard from any of the other realms, one must pass through Asgard, and cross Bifrost (which is why they are able to protect us). BUT...I think all the other realms are connected to Asgard, which is why the gods chose that place as their home realm. This theory infers that there must be a system in place that would allow the realms to avoid universal expansion and remain connected either through some natural process or technology far beyond what we understand. We often discuss in the Discord about the many ways that Norse mythology matches the natural processes of universal evolution...this might be another one of those things! Every year the science behind the theory of parallel universes becomes more and more plausible as discoveries are made! Thanks for the fun video! I love stuff like this!

The 9 relms seem to be most likely a mix of an idea of the spiritual relms and probably the planets of thw solar system. Ancient ppl seem to always have the idea of the planets and stars in their mythologies and religions. They just understood them and thw world around them differently. Due to thw fact they haven't actually physically explored space like we have.

I think I've mentioned this on here before, but I view the Norse cosmos as nine intersecting plaines of consciousness which I feel is represented in the Valknut. But that's just my personal connection, not based on any writings.

The Erulian Council of Balder Rising has been viewing your youtube videos for some time. As the Master Erulian of the council I just want say that we have enjoyed them tremendously. You have a flare for presenting the Lore of Germanic heathen Lore with a open and friendly flare that draws people in. Balder Rising is not a kindred but a guild or college that seeks to resurrect the ancient school of Germanic magic that was destroyed by Karl der Gross in 772 CE. We would enjoy communicating with you.

I’ve recently started doing amateur research on this topic. Anytime I see a geographical direction given it makes me think that is somewhere we could go. So I started considering most of the realms to be on earth and possible based off of older stories when geography was different all over the world. (Possible ancient stories?) either way just fun thoughts.

I try to imagine our ancestors way of understanding a few thousand years ago wasn’t (maybe) as literal as ours is today- modern technology has changed human brains. I view the 9 worlds as different vibrations- different life force/ realms of experience. A stone and a deity are different, but both are important. I often wonder what role the elements play in Norse mythology- air, fire, water, earth, human spirit…. Or the chakras (can’t recall the Norse word rn) and how those were related to.

I quite like your comparison with the planets. I did astrochemistry as part of my MSc. degree, so the Norse creation myth always reminded me. The sun is Muspelheimr. It was surrounded by all the dark and cold clouds of gas and dust (Niflheimr), with a large yawning void in between them (Ginnungagap). As the clouds of Niflheimr came closer to the sun, the proto-planetary disk started forming (Ymir). Eventually the proto-planetary disk collapsed and from all of its parts, the planets were made.
I might write an essay on this, could be fun. Currently writing something on Loki though, I want to finish that first.

Hello Jakob. Recently I posted a comment in a recent 'Wisdom of Odin' video about a great response from the Norse Gods to an issue my wife was having with her boss at her job. I have learned a great amount of info from your channel but then discovered some abuse issues 'and' that there might be an affiliation with your channel to the 'Asatru Folk Assembly'. I strongly do not agree with the AFA's belief that this is a "whites-only" religion. To note, I am a tribal member of the Cherokee Nation of the Talequah Cherokee Indian Reservation in Oklahoma. I do believe in the Norse Gods and look forward to my personal growth in becoming a Norse Pagan and Like I said, I have learned a lot from your YT channel about becoming/being Norse Pagan. Can you please help if there is some miss-understanding about those issues here? Thank you.

Elves/dwarves are more so a spirit. They dwell inner earth or UNDER the earth as Midgard is the center of the cosmos. Dwarfs take over your consciousness during sleep paralysis. They dwell in rocks, diamonds, water, Etc. They come through portals. There’s lots of information on it all if you connect the dots through other mythology, cosmos, Etc. Cheers

I've had a theory where that our faith is only a tree in a giant forrest, my thinking behind this is connected to the greeks, romans, Egyptians, and other pagan, or even monotheistic faiths (maybe). My theory cannot be tested unfortunately in this world, but most pagans will agree that we are all connected through our human world and that's it, once we die we can all go to different places.

Could the 9 realms be the 9 planets in our solar system (ya I know Pluto is the now removed little bitch of planets)?
I wrote the comment above before you said it in the video...
As someone that has been in places where no cities exist for hundreds of miles, I can honestly say if you have good eye sight you can see amazing things in the sky... Going to sleep, while camping, my dad and I would sometimes count the number of planets, man made satellites, and falling stars we could see in the sky. You would be shocked at how well your eyes will pick up light in true darkness.
