    Glad to see you store your shotgun in the same manner I do. My wife is not as versed with firearms as I am, but prefers the shotgun over a pistol. Therefore The shotgun stays ready to pump with a loaded tube, safety on. Last thing I’d want is for her to panic and not remember the action release button.

    This was really helpful. I bought one and installed it after watching. 870 tactical didn’t like the trigger guard configuration, though. Also appreciate the suggestion about Velcro for a side saddle - sling with shells hangs down out of the shotlock, but the side saddle is much closer to hand... Thanks!!

    Hi I found how to order your safe and I just ordered on. I'm looking forward to seeing it in person and installing it.
    We have grand kids over from time to time and the boy is supper curious about fire arms. He is at the age that can be trained but won't have his mom's approval and to let her boyfriend teach him when they are ready for home to learn. This way it can be secure and he can not shoot it by accident.
    Thanks.😊

    True, except for those rare earth magnets, but then it would be too hard to peel off the wall. I like your idea a lot. In fact it is going to save me around $300 because I have one of those wall safe things too and was really torn between using a shell holder or using the safe. The only solution I could figure out was to get a +3 magazine extension which would only give me one more round and then of course the magazine would stick out past the barrel on my 870 Tactical, which would mean I would just have to have a muzzle brake to match things back up.
    Plus, with your way can have extra strips of different shells types ready. Thank you.

    Thanks for the tip on the side saddle. A few followup questions:
    1. I keep my gun in cruiser ready mode like you. Can someone pump a shell in the chamber when it is in the lock?
    2. I have a somewhat valuable short barrel on my 870. Can someone simply unscrew the end cap and remove the barrel when it is in the lock?
    3. Have you had any issues with the over-ride key, just in case the lock breaks or you forget the code?

    • @justindunlap1235
      @justindunlap1235 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      One of the mounting options is a plastic mounting block that sits in the ejection port blocking bolt travel plus I doubt there's enough clearance to bring the pump back far enough to release a shell from the magazine. It doesn't seem like it would do anything to retain the barrel.

    I like the state of the gun you recommend, except with the ShotLock without using the action mount, anybody (like a curious child) can go into your closet and chamber a round via a back/forth pump while in the gun lock. Right? And MAYBE even fire a round if there’s enough play to get to the trigger, even with a tool. Any way to keep it locked in this lock, and still know with 100% certainty that the state of the gun is what you expect when you get it? I was thinking of keeping a round in the open action, locked with the action mount, then when you need it all you have to do is push the forend forward and you’re ready to go. Steps to get into that state: load 5 rounds, pump forend back, hang on action. Thoughts?

    • @PilotPatriot
      @PilotPatriot  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      I hadn't thought of that, but yes I believe it could still be pumped, but definitely still no way to get to the trigger!!!

    I don't like those side saddles for the fact that it covers your serial numbers. If you shoot someone in your house or if law enforcement gets a hold of your shotgun, it's going to be a hassle to take it off to check the serial number. I also hate how it makes a groove marks when you take it off. I'm going to go the velcro way on my 590a1.

      @PilotPatriot  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Guerilla 6 thanks for watching and I hope you like it! You talking about picking the lock? As I mentioned in the video....the purpose of the shotlock is to keep it readily available to you and still keep it safe from kids and guest! I don't think you need to worry about lock picking kids lol Obviously it's not totally secure from theft.... For ultimate security put it in a large safe...but thats not what the shotlock is for

    • @PilotPatriot

      Lictor Figueroa It should still work with the rail on top, you'll just need to use the breech hanger instead of the trigger guard hangers, there should be enough adjustment to make it work, there will be more room that way, but your trigger would be exposed

      Do you think I could set it up so that the stock rests on the floor and the shot lock goes around the pump slide? I don't want to use the ejection port method for the exact reasons you stated. I figured if stock was on the floor a kid would be unable to get it out.

    • @PilotPatriot
      @PilotPatriot  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Tom Torvik I don't think that's gonna be a good idea. if your talking about just basically closing the Shotlock around the barell and having it positioned to where it couldn't be pulled out the top or bottom....First there is no way for the Shotlock to secure around the forearm. 2nd, that would leave the trigger, safety, ejection port and action release exposed, so that's not very safe unless you leave it completely unloaded. Not to mention it would have to be mounted pretty low on the wall so you'd have to bend down or get on your knees to operate the code and lock, and actually mounting it that low makes it easier for a kid to get to...
      The amount of time and safety you'd be sacrificing to do it that way......you should probly just use the ejection port hanger.

    No thanks! Flimsy 14 gauge sheet metal mounted to wood studs, can be ripped off effortlessly. Just grab the barrel and the stock and twist it off the wall. 2x4's break easy. Plus, all the holes for "easy mounting", weaken the already weak sheet metal. I'll stick with my American Security safe.

    For $10 you can just get a lock guard...why would you want this

      Not sure what you mean by lock guard....but ud want this so you could mount it to the wall and locked up safely and quickly accessable lol. If you mean just using a trigger lock....those are very slow to take off, and don't protect the gun from theft or from kids and other people just picking it up.

      @@PilotPatriot they're biometric or coded identical to this. This is just a big clunky version of the same thing for 10x of the price
