Omg thank you so much for this video! My nephew (8) has started collecting the cards and since i'm the "Gamer/nerd" of the family, they all turned to me to play with him and I didn't know how. So a HUGE thanks for allowing me to continue my quest is being the Coolest Aunt
I respect your nephew. I’ve been collecting the cards since I was 9 and my cards are insane! I’ll never meet your nephew but I wish him luck in getting good cards and hope he gets good progress in the game! Good on you for going out of your way to play with him too.
This is probably the simples yet most understandable pokemon tcg tutorial i have ever watched :) i jave played and stopped up until wotc let go of the first releases. Other youtubers simply just make thing so complocated. Thank you very much
Learned and taught my 6yr old niece how to play as I got her some cards for Christmas. It's a pretty simple game, and she pretty much understood how to play after one game. I recommend getting a premade deck for about £10-12, they are labeled 1 to 3 (I think) and a level 1 deck was perfect entry for niece.
A slight correction: You check for Basic Pokemon at the beginning of the game *before* you set out prize cards. Prize cards only get set once both players have at least one Basic Pokemon.
Start with one of the most common, quite possibly, un‑written rule; reading the card explains the card. Then again, I hope you're just trolling. Did you even watch the entire video?
I highly suggest starting with a begginer friendly deck like the battle academy 2024. Trust me when i say this pokemon is a really simple game and less of a headache compared to yugioh Ps im speaking from experience.

Ok so im new learned to play it but just curious if i was to go by the official rules is it ok to use v decks against ex or should i use ex vs ex and v vs v
@@zacharygarrison4912 No there isn’t really any decks that can’t be played against one another. There are cards that do get rotated out of use in official tournaments though
So wait, prize cards are for them to take permanently? As in that's what they get for defeating you in a match? I just wanna play for fun, I don't wanna lose my deck
Is there a way to randomize the 60 cards? Can i just pick my best evolutions for battle or my best basics, trainers and energy types, or is there a rule for how you choose or something?
You have the option to mulligan, but that being said, your opponent has the option to draw a card for each mulligan. There's no limit to your hand size, by the way. Happy gaming! 👍
I have two questions, for the burn you said each turn, do you mean the players turn or both players turn? And for when you said after the coin flips aren’t working we can retreat but you also said the Pokémon can’t retreat? Those two things I was a bit confused on.
Burn and poison damage is infected at the end of each player's turn, that means both you and your opponent, you can't retreat only if your Pokémon is asleep or paralysed 😁
I have some questions. One, Smoochum is basic card and Jynx is basic too, that mean Smoochum isn't evolves to Jynx. Two, in my deck how meny types can i have. Three, i have some basic EX card, can evolves or not.
Hi, I can answer your questions 😊 1. In the Pokémon tcg baby Pokémon like smoochum do not evolve, that means their evolutions are basic Pokémon too. 2. You can have as many types of Pokémon in your deck as you want. 3. Basic Pokémon ex do not evolve, for example, a Pikachu ex could not evolve into raichu, you can look at a card of raichu and see that above the picture will be written "evolves from Pikachu" not Pikachu ex. I hope I helped, if you have any more questions feel free to ask 😊
Don't think this is right. You draw hand, then resolve Mulligan until you have the starting hand and finally draw prize cards and place them. The video places prizes before Mulligan are resolved and hands finalised
How the heck did this channel fly under my radar?! O.o you are adorable, and it feels very earnest, not fake. Your delivery is brilliant. The explanation was so digestible. Thank you for this! My daughter INSISTED I learned how to play, and my old a55 was having a hard time with it. You broke it down perfectly. We now play every Thursday! Game night!!! Wooo! Cheers.
20-20-20 is absolutely terrible advice. Any real Pokémon deck is closer to like 12 Pokémon, 40 trainer cards, and 8 energy cards. If you want to simplify that to a rounded 10-40-10, and use that as your heuristic, that would be fine. But 20 energy is patently insane unless you're doing some weird build that requires tons of energy cards (like celebrations kyogre). Plus, you can play as many item cards in a turn as you want, whereas you only get one energy attach per turn, and have a fine amount of bench space.
@robertbaker90 You are so wrong. Just go to limitless and look up any recent tournament list. Mew Vmax decks play 6 energy. Charizard Pigeot decks play 6 energy. Roaring Moon decks play 6 energy. Giratina actually is playing 12, which is a lot, but their draw engine burns cards in a way that can't be regained, and their energy costs have 3 different types, which is a bit restrictive. Gardevoir also plays 12, but that's not because they need them for energy requirements. They're searching them up and using them to ping you. You can also just play regular single prize lost box and get away with like 4 energy. In short, shut up. You have no idea what you're talking about.
You're correct, but you need to remember this is a guide for beginners. If they'll play a deck with such low energy count without a good engine they'll struggle to find those energy cards. For beginners I would recommend playing around 15 Pokémon, 12-15 energy and 30 trainers.
this game sucks so so much unless you're using a an upgraded deck that lets you find necessary cards more easily... otherwise, it's mostly a race for who reaches a single stage 2 evolution first, since that alone is enough to win the game and there's no way to get rid of it, because there are no counter spells, damaging spells, etc. i doubt anyone will see me playing this ever again haha

Great tips! My nieces and nephews are really into this game and ask me to play on occasion.
Lucky you. Non-local board-games are an alien concept in where I live. Ignorant bastards...

Great video. An overview of the Yu-Gi-Oh TCG would also be great!
Literally nobody understand Yu-Gi-Oh though.
thanks for this video I always thought it was too hard but it’s actually not that hard once you play it a couple times
My son loves to play Pokémon, and I have a collection for him and his reaction was this and he loves your videos😮
Best tutorial I have watched yet ! Trying to lean the game to play with my grandson!
Thank you so much I wanted to learn and you made it so easy!
Thank you for the tutorial! So easy to understand - can't wait to start playing my kids :)
You can also win if you knock out all your opponents Pokémon from the active spot or bench

Decking, having no present pokemon, and collecting all prize cards

Well you can buy at stores they will have a pack of 2 decks 60 cards each and battle with those

I'm pretty sure that u can put what ever cards you want just al long as there are 60 cards and the deck is shuffled
I will start collectiong if they bring back the old-school holo. The actual holo doesnt look good-
What if when you have your 7 cards you don't have an energy can someone help me?
Without energies, it will still continue the game
Hope that helps

What if you have a stage 3 pokemon but not the stage one or two does that mean you just can't use it?
Unfortunately you can't use a stage 2 Pokémon without it's basic form.
Guys what do trainers do?😅

How do you know what prize cards to put down.
You just take cards from the top of your deck and keep them face down so you don't know what is in there!
great tutorial 😊
How to play this game with a standard deck of 52 cards? 😂 Just kidding. Love this video anyway ❤🎉
❤❤❤❤❤ tank you
What's the point of rare candy's? If I can just evolve the pokemon with its evolution in hand. Seems like a waste of a card.
I only have 40 Pokémon cards in the game you have to have 60 cards😢
thank you i have gold cards
I thought you said this video was for absolute beginners...come on fam
i have pokemon
