@@GorillaGunner94 Exactly. Don’t get me wrong, I love the decks, but if only three decks can stand a chance then that’s not a meta at all. The only issue is with only one set, there’s only so much you can do about it until another set comes out.
Of the many flaws, the three worst are: 1. Skipping your energy drop turn one. Imagine playing Magic: the Gathering and always being forced to keep a no-lander. Lmfao 2. No mulligans. Literally every game becomes a coin flip until they put hand filtering/duplication Trainers in the game like Pokémon Trader or Item Finder. The fact that instead they decided to put only disruption trainers in the inaugural set (Sabrina, Red Card) is kinda gross. No color fixing Trainers, which leads me to the next point: 3. Monocolor is too consistent/Multi-color is impossible. Literally the only "Splashable" Pokémon is Ducklet/Swanna, and they're way undertuned because of this. Even if you run light color requirements like Tentacruel, etc., it's just impossible to run a splash compared to monocolor beaters. And in Magic and paper Pokémon, if I ran a splash, I could run something like a 2:1 or 3:1 split on my Lands/Energy. But in this game, it's a coinflip. If an "Energy Search" or "Prismatic Lens" was in the game, you could run Dragonite line in Mono-Water or Mono-Lightning and support the splash. Or if you could simply choose the ratio. Or have it be based on what's in play/hand so you don't get coinflipped and stuck on 3 lightning energy in a row while your Starmie dries up. Lmfao
@@GiuseppeGaetanoSabatellidual energy works for specific decks, where the pokemon doesn't need more than 1 of a specific type of energy to function, like Alakazam Weezing, for example.
@@Xeyyakkenn but you still need luck. Today I played against my friend who was using a Dragonite deck and he got 4 consecutive water energies, meaning that he couldn't attack with his dragonite that he already had set up (the fifth energy was a lightning one, but by then it was already too late). Instead of it being random, it should be constantly alternating between the types of energy you get, for example: if you have lightning and water energy and the first energy you get is water, then the second one should be lightning, the third one is water again,... This way it would be way easier to make decks with multiple types of energy and it would be less luck-based.

I’m a new player returning to the world of Pokémon TCG after …. seriously … 15 years! Thanks so much for this video, it’s super helpful for getting me into the game again.
The problem with putting low number of Pokemon in my deck is, that my starting hand seems to be almost always: 1 basic Pokemon, 2 Sabrinas, and 2 Giovannis.
This is so useful in Mewtwo ex Gardevoir decks, such a good counter that puts the opponent in a sticky situation, and allows Mewtwo to keep putting on pressure with its high damage output
Great Video! Could you make another video discussing Red Card? I've heard a lot of people dislike it but one of your decks still runs it so it clearly has a place. Would love to hear you discuss what decks want Red Card and when/ how to use it properly.
Red card is "good" because you can ruin the opponent's long term strategy. The problem is most players dump their hand and have less than 3 cards after turn 1. Which means if you play the card and the opponent has less than 3 cards. You just gave the opponent free (hand) card advantage, ON TOP of losing hand advantage by playing the card. The card is worse to use the smaller the enemy's hand is
I can't believe people still use it. Almost every game someone uses red card against me and 90% of the time I end up with a better hand or similar one. Ending up with a worse hand is so rare for me. I'd never play red card without scope with how easy it is to hand your opponent the edge. That's why I don't play it, no room for card + scope And I wouldn't play it without knowing their hand because it'd likely give them an advantage as it does for me.
a small question about fossils in face to face PTCG now: dose those fossil cards give opponent prize card when they get knocked out? (or it depends on different fossil card?)
For a standard Wheezing/Dragonite deck, what card(s) would you replace for Fossils? I always find myself struggling to get Dragonite set up so if I had 1~2 extra turns or protection from Sabrina due to the fossils, that'd be probably quite helpful.
5:20 Instead of a Red Card, it is reasonable to replace it with Aerodactyl and two Ambras, so you potentially have a jolly Pokémon that could turn the match around.
I stuck the Old Ambers in my Deck yesterday and I really liked them, but I was a bit bummed they couldn't be your Starting Pokemon, as I had one in hand during my start. They'd probably be ABSOLUTELY busted if you could though
They'd be much worse if you could start with them, cause they would qualify as pokemon, therefore you might draw only 1x of fossil and no real pokemon. I don't see why you would want them to be able to start with
I like to keep one, non-EX basic or evo line instead of the fossils, because they could actually be useful and won't cost an extra prize card like adding more EX mons would. I definitely see the utility in fossils though and have dabbled in running them.
@TrickyGym found the real app lol. I love playing aerodactyl. Maybe i high rolled but i was dying laughing as i shuffled my opponents 4th stage 2 pokemon back into their deck
Praise Lord Helix! Glad to see these guys getting some tech usage. Personally, I've been rocking a Seaking/Omastar deck and been having a blast. And because Seaking only needs 1 energy, I can start piling energies onto Lord Helix so that Omastar can lock the opponent out of attacking. Doesn't matter how shiny your EX Pokemon is; if Omastar attacks you, you're not attacking back.
Doesn't that golden gem give you "Aerodactyl"? Does that mean it's not worth keeping that gem on the field to "evolve" into that Pokemon that has a good lHP and a good effect?
Having only 4 pokemon Sounds like an interesting strategy but it leaves you a lil vulnerable to getting misty'd first turn or perhaps in the future when we get colorless energy item cards of getting aerodactil vanished second turn

in the articuno deck, I'd replace one of those pokeballs with a pokedex, mostly because if you're guaranteed to draw a basic on turn 1, the second pokeball in your hand can't do anything
But does pokedex (dead draw) do anything apart from telling you whether you have to concede or not? Like, cool, I know what I am drawing, so what? Articuno is fun and I play it, but it requires no planning ahead. The second ball is a dead draw? Sure. But 70% of the deck is a dead draw once you are set up in this deck.
