We dont run potions because the intention is to soak damage in the early game and poke for 50+20 poison with weezing on turn 2 and eat mewtwos first 50 damage attack, then we use koga to return weezing to hand and move up arbok, mewtwo cannot be set up until turn 3, arbok does 80 damage plus the 70 is 150, assuming no switch mewtwo will die to posion unless a potion is used, in that case you must giovanni at least once to hit 170 with poison after turn 3. Personally i find the potion scenario to be common so i run 2 giovanni but pokedex is also a great option when used in combination with prof. research and pokeball to shuffle your deck if you dont see koga with pokedex. Very fun deck and very budget friendly good luck on the ladder toying with those mewtwos!
A deck ive been enjoying a kot is arbok+wheezing deck, wih koga you cycle your wheezing into your hand if too damaged and keep the poison going and avoid the opponent to switch out with arbok, has a really good MU vs mewtwo and ive felt good against pikachu too, articuno being a big weakness since misty is so op
Pretty proud of myself. I only started playing at the official launch, so I don't have many cards. But I naturally built a deck just like the Pikachu one because I just so happened to be drawing those cards. Despite having Zapdos ex and Pikachu ex, I still don't have any Raichu, lol.
I opened up 10 packs at once last weekend, I got 7 really rare cards including 3 different types of Pika cards including 2 EX cards, Misty, and other cards that I can’t remember
I was never into the pokemon tcg except for maybe 18 years ago in elementary school. However, I loved the tcg game for the gameboy. Pocket is surprisingly a lot of fun so far, even as a f2p player. One thing that bothers me though is the lack of meaningful pvp/ a ranked system. I was pretty lucky and had the complete Mewtwo ex meta deck just 1,5 days after global release. It's cool to fly through the cpu battles and also the Lapras ex event is easy thanks to the deck. But besides that there isn't really anything to do I can make a great use out of a meta deck. Maybe a ranked system will be implemented in the near future. Funnily enough, Pocket got me to be interested in the actual tcg now. Is the pokemon tcg expensive? I come from yugioh and love the game but it can be extremely expensive when playing very competitively.
This may sound crazy but I build this completely F2P pure Normal type deck and I won few times with it on Versus Battles, its not competitive but I just play casual and collecting Pokémon cards 😊
I don't have any Articuno EX yet but Vaporeon has been rocking it next to my Starmie EX. The healing per turn is good and 60 is not bad for damage. Misty can help me get Vaporeon powered up to sub in when Starmie needs a breather after tanking a big hit, and with also 130HP Vaporeon can hold the line well enough that I've won with just her out a few times.
Recent sub. Not a pro. Was running tourneys in the 90s. Can vouch that his builds are legit. Best wishes to you, brother. Looking forward to more from you ^^ PS. Try not to spoil the future for newcomers, yeah? ^^
I hope they really patch this game up as it has potential. Like I don't mind getting rid of mana screw energy cards for a resource pool or prize cards with token victories, but I would say 1: It should still be 6 and the size of the field of play should be the same 2: Resistances. Like if this were the real game electric wouldn't be the meta because it'd be easy to splash in ground 3: More conditions
I’ve been going completely free to play (I didn’t even activate the free trial of the battle pass), and in 5 days I’ve gotten everything I need for multiple playable decks, including a pikachu ex deck that is practically the full meta version (2 pikachu ex, a zapdos ex, and all the trainers except Giovanni, which I should have in another couple of days). It’s entirely possible to play this great little game without spending a dime, just so everyone knows.
honestly i really like another base mewtu in the mewtu EX deck to have something else with high HP to tank early pikachu damage and not giving 2 points to the enemy
After playing with Charizard deck, Mewtwo deck, and Articuno/Starmie deck I much prefer the water deck it's the only deck where I go on long win streaks with while the others have me twiddling my thumbs for 12-15 turns just to get my Stage 2 Evo.
I’ve played tons with Blaine and it’s my favorite so far as a free to play, and I personally think it’s better without magmar and a second Giovanni or 1 red card. But the list in this video is exactly the same as mine otherwise and a very good deck and free to play friendly.
My favorite non-ex deck that actually does pretty well is the Dragonite Wheezing deck. Stall all you can while you build up the Dragonite and then come from behind and win the game in 2 turns dropping nukes.
another variant is frosmoth misty with dragonite, both are good but the problem with wheezing decks are they just lose against pika, mewtwo, starmie decks. Like probably 20% chance to win if I had to guess.
@@matthewwells9366 I'm running the Frosmoth, it's pretty nice, though it's a coin flip hell, since you don't have space to add energy on Frosmoth naturally and if your development is slow, you need to rely on Asleep coin flips, which can definitely be scary
my mewtwo deck is very similar, but, i use jynx why jynx? 1. its easy to put mana on her mid/late game with gardevoir, 2. if i get sabrina'd against something strong, i can usually nuke it because it has atleast 3 mana, if i see her dying in a future turn she just becomes a shield while i build mewtwo/evolve gard I will however try fossils for today and see how i like it, its supposed to count as a basic pokemon so im not sure why the effects you metnioned exist, maybe a bug maybe intentional. but ill see how much i like it Im kinda getting attatched to pulling off those jynx bombs ever since i used it against a player who got 6 heads up on a misty support (the poor fool, it had 7 mana,)
I think the good thing with fossils is they can be discarded on your turn for no mana and it doesn't sound as a prize point. So if they sabrina out mewtwo and you swap into gardevoir, when they kill gardevoir you can discard your fossil and they wont be able to sabrina again. I think it just give an extra option for being discarded to counter sabrina/pidgey. Another reason why its so good is because it will never show up in opening hand. It counts as an item not a pokemon so you cant pull it with pokeball, and opening. That makes it more consistent to draw mewtwo. But also jinx is fine its a good counter for charzard and misty decks.
Great vid, though I'd maybe say to try Zebstrika. The Zebra can smack the opponents on the board, knocking them down to 90 hp for Pikachu or finish off mons retreating with low hp to finish them off for more points.
its a really bad option, he is too light compared to options on this list, he cant evolve into raichu he doesnt count for the surge support partners best options would be the ones that are effective with surge support
@@selfactualizer2099 its not a bad option just maybe not optimal. Ive played the zebra pika deck and it works just fine because usually you just solo with pika anyway. But there are rare instances when going against mewtwo, dragonite, staryu decks and pika ex can't solo the main enemy pokemon, so Zebra can come in and hit the back row set up. Same for charizard you can focus the charmander in back.
I play a venusaur deck and if you actually complete a venusaur. It unstoppable. It can tank so many hit due to 30 life steal and plus Ericka, while it doing 100 damage everytime. Only deck it lose to would be Charizard who can 1 shot
Actually Dragonite/Weezing deck is pretty good. I’ve been using it against “meta” decks and had good results. Incredibly Venusaur deck is the only one what I can defeat using this deck
Wish people just ran their decks how they chose too. Pretty sure everyone that is into Pokémon knows type advantage or weaknesses. Not just copy what every other person is doing with their decks . To play a game just to mimic what the next person is doing speaks volume on skill and knowledge .
I jumped in to this game with the idea of building a great water deck. I allocated all of my resources to trying to get good water cards, built a great deck, only to start playing real players and realized...EVERYBODY seems to use a Pikachu deck. Its so annoying. I dont have the money to build up the perfect deck of every type. It really makes the game feel very pay to win. Like i get that its just bad luck that I went in choosing the worst type of deck, thats just the nature of new TCG's/updates. But man it sucks knowing Im gonna have to dedicate a solid month or so just to build another viable deck that doesnt get stomped by every pikachu deck.
Alakazam is the meta. Use an Alakazam deck that relies on tanking a few other Pokemon. Good against itself, and most other decks I’ve played. It does 60 dmg+30dmg for each energy on the opposing Pokemon. Squashes most big hitters in one hit except for Charizard unless its got a full 4 energy. Charizard takes two turns to recharge its big hit though unless they were able to stack extra energy, so you just tank a Pokemon and then put it in. It can be weak against blitz decks based on Pikachu Ex, Jolteon, Moltres Ex/Arcanine Ex combo, but it can still pull the dub if you tank some Pokemon and get decent draws. It’s been smoking most other decks though. It is weakest against a Nidoqueen/Nidoking deck though, once they are both out, atleast in my testing.
Been using a Weezing/Alakazam deck, definitely a solid pick. Does really well against Pikachu ex decks (a little bit less against the Raichu version), Weezing is one of the best stallers and sometimes wins against Mewtwo on its own. The only big downside is that using a stage 2 Pokémon with a stage 1 pokemon can be a bit bricky.
I feel like there should be more promo version of other supports. It feels really off trying to play when you can barely have any trainer cards besides the free and promo ones available in the shop
I really started to hate Sabrina because I'm always opening with the 2 copies and it's so freaking frustrating to not get either Poké Ball or Professor's Research while you're also going first many times in a raw. The odds in this game sure hates me.
Is primeape with promo manky bad? Or not meta? I won the event and got the 45 wins because of it. It hard counters pikachu ex and has a 3/4 win rate with mew two.
Mate I also struggle against meta cause I like to play water decks but have to say that even tho starmie ex& articuno exis probably better I think articuno ex & greninja is more fun to play
@@PikaThePokePimpBut I use Surge as well, you didn’t get my point, magneton lets you accelerate from the bench, you can build up a Raichu in one turn with it and surge, without it you’re stuck attaching from hand.
Can you make which card that have longevity for next meta or new deck? Pikachu and mew2 probably gonna get power crept when new pack introduced in this game. I am new to pokemon tcg, only play yugioh.
There are many different support cards that they could bring in from the full game that makes it hard to tell which decks will win the support lottery. For example, if they add Rare Candy, Mewtwo will benefit the most but the next set will most definitely have a Darkness type ex since we currently have zero and that will be tough for Mewtwo. On the other hand, Pikachu can get support through any decent Lightning type. Most likely, since the game is still new, they’re going to introduce entirely new ex cards with independent strategies to expand the metagame “horizontally” so to speak.
Powercreep will not be a major problem for the next set IF the developers give a ton of free packs for the new set. Otherwise you will need to cash in order to stay relevant and competitive. Also I love Master Duel. The crafting system is top notch and Konami is very generous with rewards (unlike this game)
They need to do more in terms of PvP rewards. It’s just super stale at the moment.

@@uumuu8576 i appreciate the effort, but you sending me a decklist wont change anything about the fact that Mewtoo is pushed as fck
Great editing and great explanation as well
I took your advice and I tell you I love my Butterfree deck.
That’s what’s up!
Thanks for covering PTCGP!
So you think it’s better in the Mewtwo deck to give up potion for the fossils rather than giovanni or ex speed or Sabrina right? Thanks
I’ve had a lot of success with Alakazam and Gangar (not Ex). most opponents i’ve faced are completely unprepared to handle it.
You love to see the Optimal Helix Fossil
Being a F2P player that ninetails deck is really putting in work
I opened up 10 packs at once last weekend, I got 7 really rare cards including 3 different types of Pika cards including 2 EX cards, Misty, and other cards that I can’t remember
If you like being f2p then I wouldn't do the physical card game or any physical card game they all end up expensive in the end
Looking forward to more from you ^^
PS. Try not to spoil the future for newcomers, yeah? ^^
I hope they really patch this game up as it has potential. Like I don't mind getting rid of mana screw energy cards for a resource pool or prize cards with token victories, but I would say
1: It should still be 6 and the size of the field of play should be the same
2: Resistances. Like if this were the real game electric wouldn't be the meta because it'd be easy to splash in ground
3: More conditions
After playing with Charizard deck, Mewtwo deck, and Articuno/Starmie deck I much prefer the water deck it's the only deck where I go on long win streaks with while the others have me twiddling my thumbs for 12-15 turns just to get my Stage 2 Evo.
this vid wouldnt be complete without the notorious mewtwo deck
I have a crown rare mewtwo
@@uptothestarzhey cool! I got an immersive one.
@@Addi-g4z I ate that one. It broke in glass shards in my mouth
@@uptothestarz I'm sorry for your suffering
i miss flying press hawlucha. very simple yet very effective card :’)
I’ve played tons with Blaine and it’s my favorite so far as a free to play, and I personally think it’s better without magmar and a second Giovanni or 1 red card. But the list in this video is exactly the same as mine otherwise and a very good deck and free to play friendly.
why not magmar?
My favorite non-ex deck that actually does pretty well is the Dragonite Wheezing deck. Stall all you can while you build up the Dragonite and then come from behind and win the game in 2 turns dropping nukes.
Send me a deck pls
another variant is frosmoth misty with dragonite, both are good but the problem with wheezing decks are they just lose against pika, mewtwo, starmie decks. Like probably 20% chance to win if I had to guess.
That's why you never use Sabrina early on
@@matthewwells9366 I'm running the Frosmoth, it's pretty nice, though it's a coin flip hell, since you don't have space to add energy on Frosmoth naturally and if your development is slow, you need to rely on Asleep coin flips, which can definitely be scary
my mewtwo deck is very similar, but, i use jynx
why jynx?
1. its easy to put mana on her mid/late game with gardevoir,
2. if i get sabrina'd against something strong, i can usually nuke it because it has atleast 3 mana, if i see her dying in a future turn she just becomes a shield while i build mewtwo/evolve gard
I will however try fossils for today and see how i like it, its supposed to count as a basic pokemon so im not sure why the effects you metnioned exist, maybe a bug maybe intentional. but ill see how much i like it
Im kinda getting attatched to pulling off those jynx bombs ever since i used it against a player who got 6 heads up on a misty support (the poor fool, it had 7 mana,)
I think Jynx is better against Charizard, but overall, having higher consistency is generally better.
I respect the mental health plea. Subbed
you should do something with the dragonite weezing deck, make sure to take out dark energy
Crushing all these decks with my team rocket ass Arbok and Weezing deck, poison early game crushes and Arboks trap ability gets you so many dubs
Same, got a cheeky Metal deck that scores a fair few victories, I'll have to try yours out too at some point.
Great vid, though I'd maybe say to try Zebstrika. The Zebra can smack the opponents on the board, knocking them down to 90 hp for Pikachu or finish off mons retreating with low hp to finish them off for more points.
its a really bad option,
he is too light compared to options on this list,
he cant evolve into raichu
he doesnt count for the surge support
partners best options would be the ones that are effective with surge support
@@selfactualizer2099 its not a bad option just maybe not optimal. Ive played the zebra pika deck and it works just fine because usually you just solo with pika anyway. But there are rare instances when going against mewtwo, dragonite, staryu decks and pika ex can't solo the main enemy pokemon, so Zebra can come in and hit the back row set up. Same for charizard you can focus the charmander in back.
Would love a battle bracket that caps out at 3 diamond rarity, it's cringe seeing nothing but the decks shown almost every game
Raichu & 2 Magneton combo is insane
I've been playing venasaur Ex + liligant + Erika and I really like how balanced it is for anything but Charizard
Even then, with Sabrina you can do something, but prolly you'll lose
Great content! Thank you
I play a venusaur deck and if you actually complete a venusaur. It unstoppable. It can tank so many hit due to 30 life steal and plus Ericka, while it doing 100 damage everytime. Only deck it lose to would be Charizard who can 1 shot
What do u think of arceus v with giratina v ? Im just getting started
Actually Dragonite/Weezing deck is pretty good. I’ve been using it against “meta” decks and had good results. Incredibly Venusaur deck is the only one what I can defeat using this deck
Ohh, so youre the reason why I keep seeing people use random fossil trainer cards during this Lapras event. It all makes sense now lol
Wish people just ran their decks how they chose too. Pretty sure everyone that is into Pokémon knows type advantage or weaknesses. Not just copy what every other person is doing with their decks . To play a game just to mimic what the next person is doing speaks volume on skill and knowledge .
There must be some Coin flips which have to be rigged, like the moltres ex ability, especially against higher level cpu
hi, I am new player and I was wondering, is it better to play 1 or 2 ralts in the mewtwo deck? maybe only 1 ralts is better to find early mewtwo?
Definitely two ralts. You want ralts turn one every single game
@ i like that, i’ll have to check it out
i feel like weezing arbok should be on here, but good list.
I'm having a hard time finding tcg pro and it's not linked in the description. Help.
I feel like there should be more promo version of other supports. It feels really off trying to play when you can barely have any trainer cards besides the free and promo ones available in the shop
Craft them
What you think about new promo monkey deck with kobutops?
i just hate how long it takes to actually be able to get most of the cards for these decks as a free to play player
Now it’s digitized they can make the game more interesting I hope. I’m new but it’s so rng focused
I really started to hate Sabrina because I'm always opening with the 2 copies and it's so freaking frustrating to not get either Poké Ball or Professor's Research while you're also going first many times in a raw. The odds in this game sure hates me.
Can you make a video on a Blastoise EX deck some kind of variant of it that you think is best
My misty: tails 😭
Opponent's misty: 4 heads in a row 😮
Me: gg 🥲 you are so skilled and I have skill issue.
Dragonite x Weezing with Koga works for me aswell
Is primeape with promo manky bad? Or not meta? I won the event and got the 45 wins because of it. It hard counters pikachu ex and has a 3/4 win rate with mew two.
Primeape is good, I got a video on it
@ I’m new to your channel and this was my first video. I’m now consuming your content and will be an active subscriber
Mate I also struggle against meta cause I like to play water decks but have to say that even tho starmie ex& articuno exis probably better I think articuno ex & greninja is more fun to play
Can you make a video using all of this decks please
I don't see how Pikachu EX could be good without Magneton, you really need those extra energy to power up Raichu.
That's what LT. Surge is for
@@PikaThePokePimpBut I use Surge as well, you didn’t get my point, magneton lets you accelerate from the bench, you can build up a Raichu in one turn with it and surge, without it you’re stuck attaching from hand.
Is there any fighting decks working in the current meta?
Just released a video on that!
@TrickyGym Nice! Will definitely take a look at it after the video on fossils, fighting is my favourite pokemon type😁
Funny how Koga deck didn't even make it.
Venasaur/exeggutor EX w/ erika support is utterly ridiculous
Greninja + Hitmonlee with a single line of Cubone and marowack EX I run one Giovanni for the EX mon double Sabrina too keep hitting backline
im new in pokemon tcg, does the mechanics the same irl?
Does this game have ranked PvP?
Shoutout to me for recommending you to play Blaine's in chat after you kept calling it fake. Glad to see you've changed your opinion on it!
Thanks for proving me wrong!!!
