It's so good and so rare for someone to be talking about this on an open forum from an open-hearted perspective and with a focus on community. I hope much more is to follow.
Well said Kamala! Love your message(s) and about telling our stories to help/inspire others. I came out to my teen kids about being poly, then my sister (by accident!) then later to my 87 year old father...who surprisingly listened, nodded his head in agreement, then said "Honey...this poly thing has been around forever...I'm just glad it now has a name and that you are so honest about it!" Goodbye deceit and dishonesty...hello transparency and communication!!
Yes KamalaDevi, I agree that transparency about sexuality is crucial. Thanks for bringing this topic out. I know my life has changed by being open about daily sex as a spiritual path, about the ability to love more than one deeply, and about sexual empowerment issues. And I have seen how much I have affected others by being open about it. Sex is beautiful, spiritual, natural, and improves all areas of health.
Thank you Kamala Devi, it is so touchin to hear a women speaking so clear and truthful about this issue! And also thanky a lot for bringing in Tamera on the level you are discribing it! I feel seen and honoured!!! Sabine Lichtenfels
Brilliant and Important conversation. Thank you Kamala Devi for pointing out how open, transparent communication about all aspects of our human being-ness actually evolves us and our communities.
I resonate with your comments that a felt sense of being ourselves/transparent can lead to increased community. I know some people do not resonate with polyamory, I hope that those people still listen to your message that, whatever our sexuality, we all strive for love and belonging - and transparency and vulnerability can bring us together as community - which we sorely need.
Awesome Kamala! I loved how you tied all of that together. I've been a huge fan of M Scott Peck for decades. After suffering pitfalls in my own community building endeavors, I'm working at being re-inspired. Thanks for helping with that!
Brava!! Well done honey. thank you for be-ing articulate, present and heartful.. . bridging and inter-weaving the personal, the systemic and the universal. and that to risk, and be transparent together, consciously with ongoing assessment, feedback and support systems in place (like the exquisite Tamera in Portugal), can lead to a social revolution of sustainable, loving togetherness in the form of comm-unities!
Great talk, I am a huge advocate for transparency in any relationship, even when the truth hurts. There is something hugely refreshing about people owning up to stuff that is usually felt, and affecting things anyway, so better to bring a voice to it. My favourite film is "the invention of lying," I love the honesty in it. If we could only hear what everyone is thinking, how would that be? what would happen to our sexual lives then, our communities and relationships then!? hehehehehe
In watching “polyamory married and dating,” I found that consent piece was good and the openness was good but the rest wasn’t. By the end of season two, there were conflicts in all of the relationships, including Kamala’s and the show couldn’t be renewed for another season. In addition so is spiritual. Having several lovers opens your soul up to so many things from the people you sleep with. To each us own, but I’m yet to see this work.
This is such an important topic and I agree wholeheartedly that talking about my sex life with others opens up the conversations to a social revolution. I can choose what I want and with whom!
