Great voice. I loved this song when it first came out in 1971. I went to see Bad Company the band after Free in 1974. I’ll never forget that night ever. They were fantastic live.
No QTips needed my ears are now purified. Paul is vocals from heaven. A master and a minister at the same time. Powerful and gentle, but always ready to set the story straight.. Thank you Paul for all the beautiful years of music and sound from all your bands you were in. With you as the front man it has always been a pleasure and a gift to us all.
Paul is “The Voice” One of the best voices in Rock History and it got better with the years. He got longevity, control and range, which are the signs of a true vocalist
If he did then he hasn't done much else since....definitely taken his eyes off the ball now. Anyway Paul Rodgers could sing the yellow pages and it would still sound good.
@@brithaddenhadden8383why are you watching a Paul Rogers video then? Have you nothing better to do than make the same dull reply to all the comments from people who obviously love to hear this music?
No other rock vocalist comes close to Mr Rodgers…so much controlled power, so much feeling, so much soul…he really IS the finest, the best! I had the privilege of seeing him in Portsmouth on the Free Spirit tour in 2017 and I can honestly say it was the most emotional and enjoyable gig I’ve ever been to… all FREE numbers, what a treat…WOW!!
I saw Free way back in 1972 at The Top Rank Sunderland (supported by Vinegar Joe that night). His voice was great then, it's even better now. The guy is a gift❤️
@@lynby6231Saw Vinegar Joe in the early 70s in Sheffield and was lucky enough to see Free 4 times in Scarborough and Bridlington A fantastic very talented young band with one of the most charasmatic singers and frontman ever! 👌👀
I love The Beatles, Queen, Zeppelin and the Stones. I think British rock bands are a treasure that the world can be proud of. With that in mind, for me the "golden" singing voice is Paul Rodgers.
This actually came out as a single in Apr 71 and hit the charts for a few weeks. I was 16 (sigh). He has such a soulful phrasing, he could do stuff from Otis Redding justice. More of a crooner than Steve Marriot, who was the archetypal shouter. Soul singers in rock bands is a great idea. Just like Mother's Finest as few years later.
This is where the bar sits. So high and I’ve just grinned the whole way through watching this. Thanks for sharing and for continuing to be an inspiration 👍😀🎶
He is so good he should have is vocals bronzed. He is so smooth, they should sell copies of his voice as yards of velvet. He has so much rhythm and soul that even deaf people feel the groove when he starts singing 🤙🏽😎
The best singer Britain's ever produced. Only seen him live the once in 1974 at Charlton Ath with Bad Company but that introduced me to Free who I still listen to to this day, especially the Highway album. Fantastic band and voice. This song was written about Paul Kossof who was badly addicted to heroin and had to leave Free but nothing could save him sadly.
Great song. I remember hearing Free play it live before it was even released - one of the best gigs I've ever been to. Paul's vocals here are every bit as good, if not better, than the original. Thanks for posting.
Straight up rock vocals oozing soul. No Autotune , no gimmicks. Just the real deal from one of the best singers there ever was or ever will be.
The best lead vocalist in Rock history! And what a great old song from Free! Good show, Paul, Jools, and the group!!!

God Schmod. He worked his ass off.

Fantastic live band they were just about made in Sunderland.
Perfect performance of this lovely song. PR doesn't need a PR. His voice tells all.
Always loved this song and still have the original single.
Some very lucky people to be in the audience, amazing stuff.
Note for note still got it after 50 year's amazing
My man! One of the greatest 🙏🏻👍🏻
Nothing short of wonderful . . .
There's no longer any need for "who's the greatest singer" polls. This guy has been killing it since 1968 - in original keys !

I believe this written about Koss. Both Paul and Andy were very worried about his drug habit.
Purrfection
Right - listen up. Are you ALL AWARE that this guy is NOT in the rock and roll hall of fame?
Wish do UK tour
Had to believe this was 22 years ago
Such a great voice then and now! Does this guy age??

Mr R better than ever here.
The older he gets the better he sings
Ronnie Van Zant was hugely influenced by Paul Rodgers band Free, this is testimony to his incredible voice.
Thought it was the little guy from Top Gear.
Great and often overlooked song but this uptempo overbusy version loses much compared to the absolutely perfect original…
Why does Jools always insist on playing with his guests?…..turns the attention on him 👎
