Great voice. I loved this song when it first came out in 1971. I went to see Bad Company the band after Free in 1974. I’ll never forget that night ever. They were fantastic live.
No QTips needed my ears are now purified. Paul is vocals from heaven. A master and a minister at the same time. Powerful and gentle, but always ready to set the story straight.. Thank you Paul for all the beautiful years of music and sound from all your bands you were in. With you as the front man it has always been a pleasure and a gift to us all.

No other rock vocalist comes close to Mr Rodgers…so much controlled power, so much feeling, so much soul…he really IS the finest, the best! I had the privilege of seeing him in Portsmouth on the Free Spirit tour in 2017 and I can honestly say it was the most emotional and enjoyable gig I’ve ever been to… all FREE numbers, what a treat…WOW!!
I saw Free way back in 1972 at The Top Rank Sunderland (supported by Vinegar Joe that night). His voice was great then, it's even better now. The guy is a gift❤️

I love The Beatles, Queen, Zeppelin and the Stones. I think British rock bands are a treasure that the world can be proud of. With that in mind, for me the "golden" singing voice is Paul Rodgers.
This actually came out as a single in Apr 71 and hit the charts for a few weeks. I was 16 (sigh). He has such a soulful phrasing, he could do stuff from Otis Redding justice. More of a crooner than Steve Marriot, who was the archetypal shouter. Soul singers in rock bands is a great idea. Just like Mother's Finest as few years later.

He is so good he should have is vocals bronzed. He is so smooth, they should sell copies of his voice as yards of velvet. He has so much rhythm and soul that even deaf people feel the groove when he starts singing 🤙🏽😎

Only seen him live the once in 1974 at Charlton Ath with Bad Company but that introduced me to Free who I still listen to to this day, especially the Highway album. Fantastic band and voice. This song was written about Paul Kossof who was badly addicted to heroin and had to leave Free but nothing could save him sadly.
Great song. I remember hearing Free play it live before it was even released - one of the best gigs I've ever been to. Paul's vocals here are every bit as good, if not better, than the original. Thanks for posting.
