- I've seen the name Paul Rodgers in so many "Greatest Singers" lists. And now I can say I understand why. This was my first time hearing Paul Rodgers so I started with a live performance of the song "Bad Company" by the supergroup, Bad Company.

What’s amazing is that this an old Paul Rogers. His voice was even more powerful when he was younger.
to me personally it feels the other way around
My ears hear, fine wine. Pure perfection.
Yup he's still got it.
This vocal performance by Rodgers was as strong & powerful as it’s ever been. Paul Rodgers, Burton Cummings of The Guess Who, David Pack formerly with Ambrosia, Steve Perry formerly with Journey, and the late, great Glen Campbell are hands-down the 5 best male vocalists this side of the Milky Way Galaxy.
exactly, Free was better than Bad Company
Paul Rodgers...one of the best rock voices ever.....
I’m 64 years and this man is one my top 3 blues rock singers. Hard to believe he,Bad Company or Free aren’t in the hall of fame.
@chrisdavis715 Agree. Bad Company, Boston & Toto all need to be in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. I'm not a huge fan but I like Bad Company and Rodgers does have a great voice.
No kidding !!!! but they have room for all those rappers they are inducting , it's the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame !!!! and these guys should have been there years ago .
Scr,w the Rock n Roll Hall of Fame. They've hosed so many bands and artist. They have zero credibility - NONE
The so-called "Rock and Roll" hall of fame is an f'ing joke.
@@WilliamWright-hf8ob lost ALL respect for the R&RHOF when they inducted the first hip hop artist before R&R groups like Boston/TOTO etc, that actually belong there.
At 18 Paul Rogers was lead singer with Free, at 24 he formed Bad Company, he's been at the top for a very long time. I think he was 59 when this was recorded but I've heard him more recently and he still sounds magnificent
His voice on his newest solo album is chefs kiss
I'm 70 years old and Paul Rodgers became one of my favorites in high school when he was the lead singer for free have seen him twice and he never disappoints the only other two singers that I put in his category are Robert plant and Freddie Mercury. No one else holds a candle
Don’t forget The Firm with Jimmy Page too. He open for my first concert ever, it was Steve Miller. Paul was a lot better, he was touring under his name not Bad Company
Let’s not forget that he sang for Queen.
Free, Bad Company and dont forget the Firm and rock and roll fantasy. Paul is a legend
Don't forget Queen. I think he did a couple tours with them before Adam Lambert took over from him.
@@michaelsmith2017 Paul is one of the most iconic rock voices in history, and one of the most recognizable. However, with Queen, that's not Queen, with all due respect to Paul. It's just not, some people liked it, fine. I'd say the same thing if Freddie Mercury tried singing with Bad Company in 75.
My first proper rock concert was The Firm. My older brother was so proud, and now I, infinitely thankful.
@michaelsmith2017 Was lucky to see that tour! Was great, did not try to sound like Freddy (who could) sang Queen songs with Paul at the mic. 😊
He LITERALLY is the only artist with 4 #1 songs at the same time …. All 4 songs were with different bands
How does someone go through so many years without EVER hearing Paul Rodgers? Unfathomable.
I agree but I’ve never listened to Taylor Swift. Same for countless other rappers who seem to get richer by the day.
Come on - she is a young woman. Why should she have listened to Bad Company - a 70s Rock Band?
I am 65. I know my Free, Bad Company, Deep Purple, ZZ Top, Lynyrd Skynyrd but if I was a reactor I could listen to Foo Fighters, Smashing Pumpkins, Linkin Park etc. and honestly say I have never heard them.
Each generation has their own musical universe.
@@fritzeckhart5694I’ll go out on a limb and say skip the Smashing Pumpkins 🤣 I consider them to be one of the most irritating bands ever. Your mileage may vary ✌🏻
It’s only unfathomable from your small town perspective.
@@jay-remedy-plz their first album is great. Give it a try. Or don’t
I've always thought, if I could be gifted any voice I wanted, I would want Paul Rodgers' , without a doubt.
Mega
@@michaelj3414 I was a singer in a rock n roll band (pun semi intended) in the 70’s. THAT voice was the one I wished for, strived for, and weakly tried to copy. Simply the best voice in rock.
Paul Rodgers was lead singer of the band Free before this. You may have heard their hit "All Right Now." For another great Bad Company song, you should check out "Feel Like Makin' Love."
both songs would be great to analyze, and contrast his voice in the 70s versus this more recent performance
In 1985-6 he made 2 albums with Jimmy Page as The Firm.
Love Free. “All Right Now” is one of my favorite songs.
@@frugalseverin2282 Can't leave out Tony Franklin and Chris Slade from that lineup.
Watch Susanna Hoff sing feel like making love. 😊
Paul Rodgers has THE best rock voice of all time. Smooth enough, soulful enough, and gritty enough. He has it all.
He also did a tour fronting for Queen some years back. So versatile.
Paul Rodgers is one of the best rock singers ever. When you said "best singers of all time"......he's one of them.
Absolutely! And Lou Gramm. I can’t remember if she’s reacted to Foreigner or Lou solo.
YES😂
One of the BEST PURE ROCK VOCALIST EVER. Freaking Paul Rogers!!!
One of the best rock singers, ever his previous group free were fantastic, all right now,my brother Jake, wishing well are worth a listen .
He’s been singing longer than you have been alive crazy how his voice sounds through out the years
Go back and listen to this song in the studio version on the album. His vocal qualities are stunningly pure and powerful. 👏👏👏👏
Paul Rodgers is the Chuck Norris of rock vocals.
U can pause all you want! Most of bad companys fans have heard them for decades and getting a fresh perspective of Paul's voice is very refreshing
Thank you for your reaction.... new sub
So right, new Sub too.
The man released his 1st studio album in 25 years after recovering from a stroke and guess what? He still sounds like the 19 year old lead singer from Free.
The man is a freak of nature and I love it!
Your reviews are indescribably enjoyable. Your reactions & comments are unexpected for such a “young” person reviewing mega-hits from decades passed. I’m glad you reviewed Paul Rodgers whose singing has remained timeless over 40+ years. Bravo! 👏👏👏
Agreed. She brings back the wonderment we experienced when we first heard them with a twist unavailable to me at the time. After every video I start looking for used Camaros.
Paul Rodgers, Bradley Delp and James Dewar are some of the very best to ever do it. What incredible talents. 🤘🏻
Don't forget Lou Gram!
So true! I agree! Yet still not in RRHOF!!
Excellent choices
Love Dewar especially on “Bridge of sighs” and “In this place” he has the same mellow masculine tones as Rodgers and the same Ferrari rasp when the turbo comes in.
Thanks for doing this. For me one of the greatest classic rock singers.
I grew up with the music of Paul Rodgers and all of his groups, and always liked the songs. I even bought a couple of records.
It wasn’t until revisiting his works many years later (early 2000s) that I truly appreciated his innovative contributions to rock music, as testified to by people who are considered arena rock gods, who credited him with influencing them.
Paul is, and always was, very soulful. Love his voice.
That's exactly my 3 as well. Steve Perry's not too far behind IMO. Good call!
Paul Rodgers just has a timeless voice and in my humble opinion is vastly underrated. Bethany, I love that your choice of subjects is so wide-ranging and eclectic but might I suggest you do an episode on Justin Hayward and the Moody Blues? In particular the live version of Nights in White Satin although Tuesday Afternoon might demo his voice a little more? Thanks as always for the videos!
I started listening to Moody blues at around 7 years old thanks to an older brother. They will always have a place in my heart and on my ipod...I know...ipod, right?
Also ride my see saw
Paul Rogers is one helleva singer......one of the best lead vocals in the past sixty years hands down!! Glad you reviewed this track
That man is a gem. He’s been rightfully praised by the best in the business. Many many more songs awaiting.
So now I am hooked, these reaction videos to my generations songs are like crack. Watch young people appreciate the music that I loved sooooo very much to play sing and listen to lifts my heart.
Yah bless u
Ron
One of my favorite singers. Great range and story telling. 50+ years in many bands with all successful.
Silver, Blue and Gold is one of my favorites for grasping Paul Roger's vocal talents.
I saw Paul Rodgers in concert about 5 years ago. I was amazed at how effortless is was for him.
in my opinion one of the all time great rock singers
Before Bad Company, Paul Rodgers and the drummer Simon Kirke played together in a band called Free. One of the best blues rock band ever. Had two masterful musician with them in Paul Kossoff (guitar)) and Andy Frasier (bass). Had a huge hit with All Right Now. Check out live versions of that or Mr Big, Ride On Pony, Wishing Well and many more.
Got to see Bad Company in 1979 in Atlanta, Ga. Sadly after 3 songs they left the stage. 🥲 it was July & just after the 4th, a few guys were shooting bottle rockets down at the stage! Paul said that one of their roady’s had been hit in the eye in Texas by a bottle rocket the week before, if the rockets stopped they would play all night! The lights dropped again & the bottle rockets took flight once more & true to his word, Bad Company left, yes sir, as fast as they appeared they were gone! O’the guys who were to blame, well as we were coming up from the floor, we watched as one of them was tossed off the top tear, the police got there before the others got tossed off, but that was the first & last time seeing Bad Company! 😨
Bad Company became a band in 1973 & they came from a few different bands, but that’s up to you to discover!
God Bless, kbk ✌🏻
Ready for Love" Seagull" Really show his Voice!
Probably my favorite song, including the out of tune guitar😂. It's pretty popular request when we go camping or around the fire pit. Then The Eagles Seven Bridges Road as well.
Simple man!
Don't forget Simple man!
Some are blessed....VERY blessed with pipes that stand the tests of time. Just wow.
Such a beautiful voice, strong, yet mellow, just stunning!
Rock Steady, Feel Like Making Love, Good Lovin' Gone Bad, Ready For Love, Burning Sky, and Shooting Star are all reaction worthy. If you want a young Paul Rodgers, then please listen to the band Free doing All Right Now. Thanks!
Silver, Blue and Gold too
Man… I could listen to Paul…. all… day… long!! ❤
BIG BAD COMPANY FAN HERE, GORGEOUS VOCALS BY PAUL ROGERS!! I HAD ALL OF THE BAD COMPANY ALBUMS!! AWESOME REACTION AND ANALYSIS BETH!! ROCK AND ROLL FANTASY! 😊💓🔥🤘✌️
I know that live versions are often more exciting and energetic, but I would really urge you to listen to the original studio version of this piece also. Paul Rodgers is absolutely PERFECT: so tight and so smooth. Gorgeous!
One of the greatest rock singers of all time. I have listened to him with the bands Free and Bad company since 1969. His last solo album was also great.
Considering Queen hired Paul to be their singer after Freddie Mercury passed might inform on how high his voice can get as well as how his power and intention are always available. Glad you enjoyed.
George Michael did a good job. Apparently, lip synched as well
Paul Rogers and Free started out with one of the Grandfathers of the British Blues movement - Alexis Corner
Oh my gosh!! So wonderful, saw them in the 70's😮 Seagull, Ready for Love, Running with the Pack, Silver Blue and Gold, Feel like Making Love, Burning Sky!! ALL of them ❤❤
Another fabulously enjoyable video! Please do more! :)
Saw Free at the IoW festival,'alright now' was a classic then and still is now. Thank you always a pleasure to listen to Paul and yourself of course. 👏👏👍👍
Luv your reactions and your so beautiful and like how you break down the performers.
Thanks😊
What a great reaction, I love to hear what you have to say about all these great artist's. ❤❤
Wow , I like seeing you listening to him, He's my Favorite Front Man, And I Like that you touched on , he's vocals that come from the Chest, and not from his head as you said, I've only watched your comments a couple of times, but can tell you very good at what you do, Critiquing, Singers, and usually you point out something that is in Question, But I can tell this time.. And I'am married to a beautiful wife that is a singer and dance Major, And watching you listening to him singing play Piano, and you getting you getting a little worm... your self,... and I loved that Human side come out , Thank's, I get it, What Woman wouldn't ... That's my View, and Thanks, Again for Sharing ,Love It , Kurt Leddy Annapolis ,MD , Golf Professional 30, years,
Here in the UK, we've produced some truly amazing male rock vocalists, people like Paul Rodgers, Robert Plant, Brian Johnson and Stevie Marriott (RIP) and they all make us proud. Great rock music never dies. 🙋♂
You left out Roger Daltrey, Freddie Mercury (by way of Sri Lanka), Mick Jagger, David Gilmour and Paul Mccartney. I love all their voices.
I was a kid when my older brother brought home the album “Straight Shooter “and have been hooked ever since !!
So very many of his songs are my favorite but be my friend takes the cake for me. 40 years of listening and I just can't fault Paul. The man
Paul Rogers is the man! I been listening to him for 55 years. He was singing like that at 18 years old. He kills it in every song. He even toured with Queen and sang Freddie’s songs.
Better listen to more Paul honey!
I grew up with this guy, but once i started having to sing his stuff, i really got how great he was....and then he jumped into Queen! Those runs he does are untouchably smooth.
Brad Delp, Paul Rodgers, Freddie Mercury...these guys are upper echelon 70s precise-but-soulful vocalists.
I hope you do more reviews of Paul Roger’s. I’m very happy you covered him finally!😊
I have a tenor voice and get barely hit his higher notes in the song seagull.
I’m trying to learn by listening to your reviews of him so Please do more reviews…Thank you for your great work.
Saw him at the Fender Guitar museum in Corona, CA about 15 years ago, The venue was small, and he was phenomenal even at his age. One of the greatest rock voices of all time, and a legit rock god.
He's what you'd call a "Natural". He just has the gift. I remember in the 80s listening to WKDF in Nashville. The female DJ introduced this song saying that Paul Rodgers was her favorite singer, that something about him just rang her bell. He's just that smooth.
Bad Company was the first band I saw live back in the late 70s . They blew me away. To me though he did his best music with Free . So many amazing songs - he has an incredible voice.
I'm a seventies boy..it's great to see you listening to these awesome bands
What a brilliant review , you really captured the old masters qualities
o.k. , Yes Paul has always had this ability to touch with just the smooth flair of His voice . He is on the top shelf with few others . and He gives You the hots . yep
HE is known as the Voice for a reason!!!!!
Every vocal coach/singer reaction I've heard on Paul Rodgers have commented on his consistency. Simply the best R&R voice ever...with all due respect to Steve Perry.
Paul Rodgers is on the Mount Rushmore of rock singers. Phenomenal voice and his discography with Free and Bad Company is very impressive.
When I saw you were reacting to Paul Rodgers I got excited. I knew you were gonna geek out.
Paul Rogers is legend for a reason. Consider his age here, not many men can sustain like he has.
He did a solo performance of this song on the piano for a television recording (around 2002). It is on TH-cam and really highlights the control he has and the power and soul of his voice.
Well worth looking at some of his songs with Free from the early 1970s. There are live (German) telelvision recordings of classics such as 'Be My Friend' and 'Fire and Water' which really highight how great his voice was back then and also what a wonderful band Free were.
This man is on my Mount Rushmore of lead singers. Paul can sing any style he wants to.
Definitely one of my favorite singers of all time.
When I was in high school each Thursday night at 9 a radio station (WLIW-FM) would play a new album - so first time hearing for all listeners. One week they played this - album version of course. What a revelation! Those were the days my friend.
Holy moly, he sounds better here than back in the day! For those of us who were actually there and saw them when this song was released:). It's crazy unusual for a 70s rocker to not have lost their voice, or for it to have deteriorated significantly. Damn!
Paul Rodgers has always been the standard for 'blues rock' singers. Since 1969's "All Right Now", when he was lead singer for Free, till now, he's maintained a very high vocal standard. He still (as of 2 years ago) performs "All Right Now" in the original key! And, that's a song he recorded 55 years ago!
Uh, no. Wrong year, homie, recorded Jan 1970, released May 1970.
@@manwithumbrella Yes, the song hit big in '70. There is, however, a "rare" video of Free performing the song live in Australia circa 1969. Poster could have the wrong date, I suppose. It's also possible that they had they performed the song before they recorded it. But, it also defies logic that an English band would be performing their first and only big hit, in Australia, before they'd even recorded it. On the other hand, Free had recorded two albums before "Fire and Water", so, maybe they actually DID perform the song live in '69, as a song they planned to record. Somebody call Paul.
@@jrdlabs
Uh, just take the L on this one, homie, the song was written and recorded in Jan 1970, the TH-cam poster is just another click-baiting POS.
Paul Rogers is one of the absolute BEST vocalists in a "rock/blues" mix from late 60's on throughout the 70's.
And just subscribed, so would absolutely LOVE to hear/see you go back to his "older" days. And by the way, the only "Supergroup" Rogers was in, was The Firm.
And he doesn't hit "Steve Perry" highs...but you were fully correct in your opinion of his blues.
Best of wishes, and a blessed New Year...I am now subscribed. Thank you!!!
DECEMBER 17TH 2024 HAPPY 75TH BIRTHDAY PAUL ROGERS 🤘🏻🙂
Paul Rogers is all rock singer's favorite singer. ( Free, Spirit, Bad Company which was an early " Super Group" members from Free, Mott the Hoople and King Crimson. The name came from the former Mott the Hoople guitarist player " Mick Ralphs. In this later version, the second guitarist is Howards Leese from Heart. There are so many great Pau Rogers Songs. Plus, he toured with Queen.
Thank you so much you beautiful woman. It`s so nice to se your passion for music on the screen. This was a blast. Take care. Cheers from a finn in Sweden.❤
That voice is unique and timeless.
Paul Rodgers as a solo artist is unknow but is amazing. After Free and Bad Company he did solo stuff then he started The Firm with Jimmy Page, you might remember their hit "Radio Active". After that he created "The Law" followed by more solo stuff. He toured with Queen as their lead singer for a few years. Just so versatile and great. I once saw him touring as a solo artist with BTO. I asked the people beside me who they came to see and they said BTO, they didn't know who Paul Rodgers was. I told them they will be amazed at the songs he sings that they will recognize. During his performance they kept looking at me recognizing his songs. At the end they knew and would never forget who Paul Rodgers is.
Paul Rodgers joined the band, Free, when he was 18 years old (in 1968). He is now 74 years old. I don't know the date of this concert but in 2016, he had the first of two major strokes (plus some minor ones). These effected his speech and singing abilities.
Paul Rodgers is simply an amazing vocalist for sure either Free or Bad Company.
My favorite singer ever! For my money, the best to ever do it!
love your reactions to all the feelings we had when we were young. Thank you for reminding us to listen with open ears. ❤ your channel from Maine! so fun
He’s known as The Voice. PR is the man! His blues and Memphis stuff is awesome too! Don’t forget Free and The Firm! ❤️👍🏻
@@GrandWazooR his solo album “Muddy Waters Blues” is a ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ listen. Collaborative effort with the BEST guitarists on the planet. Hard to find now. But man…… 🫨
I’m 61 years old and in around 1989-90, I had the sheer luck to share 2 mugs of beer with Paul at a tiny bar in Dublin-Ohio. I’d grown up with Bad Co. 8-tracks and he is the most humble, down to earth man. I still feel like it didn’t happen sometimes, but it did. Treat yourself to his song with ‘Free’-“Alright Now.” His voice is legendary.
His first band was FREE then he was in Bad Company then The Firm with Jimmy Page... He has a HUGE catalog and he is in the discussion for best front man. He made a lot of great music with a lot of great bands.
Your expressions speak 1000s of things ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,you really have a sensitive understanding of the depth of Pauls voice.
You are so well spoken, intelligent, and beautiful. I LOVE watching your reactions. You know what you're talking about.
Thank you
Paul Rodgers is one of my favorite all time singers , I am 64 and have heard him many times .. Check out his Free days …
One of the best voices in rock. I still think he's underrated.
I think so and he shouldn't be.
Not one of, he is the best
Oh, thank you for that. Paul Rodgers is one of my all time favorites.
Lov u
I saw the Bad Co reunion tour in '98, then Paul in about 2016. He still had it then, I imagine he's still got it now.
Paul-VERY underrated!
One of the greatest singers AND songwriters of all time. You might have heard of his band before Bad Company: Free.
This entire concert is fire... pour a glass of wine and enjoy!
I remember when this show made the rounds on MTV or VH1. You're right it's an ass kicker from start to finish.
1:46 yes. yes, this is the correct face a person must make when you hear such awesomness.
also, this is Live. at the end of the show. and Paul is 64 years old here. Dude is Legend.
Paul Rodger is 74 years old in 2024, I first saw him in 1975 when I was 16, what a bad ass singer! This song is 50 years old. He is still good after all these years. He also sang with Queen.
I just love your reviews!!
I first saw Bad Co in 1979 and for the last time in 2016 and his voice had never diminished. He's quite simply the best vocalist I've ever seen live. Brilliant with his mic placement / control too when you watch him perform
One of the Greatest 🔥🔥🔥
One of the great voices, ever!
