- In this video, we take our first overnight trek up Volcan Acatenango! This 6 hour hike to base camp will (hopefully) give us stunning views of neighboring volcano, Volcan Fuego erupting! We have never seen an erupting volcano before and are so excited to be climbing Acatenango!

How cold is up there it looks really cold...
This is a great question. I am not sure what the exact temperatures were, but it can get into the 40's and 50's (ºF) at base camp, but with the cloud coverage and the wind, it felt colder to us. We were warm in the tents in our sleeping bags, but outside we had tons of layers on, including hats, gloves, hand and foot warmers, and a fire to stay warm. It was very cold ❄️ but a very exhilarating experience 😊

Guatemala is so beautiful, rich, unique and magical. You can change climates every 2 hours. In the western highlands of the province of San Marcos in the highest little peaks you get some snow in December and January and you drive downhill for 2 hours and be at the Pacific Coast it means one moment you can be eating strawberries, apples and peaches and the next moment you can be eating Bananas, mangos and coconuts. God bless

congratulations on the hike! I am planning to do this hike next month. was it cold wearing only leggings and which part of the hike was the most difficult?
Thank you Franky, we appreciate it 🙌 And congratulations in advance to you. It is a huge accomplishment and so much fun. Leggings only was a bit chilly and we would recommend another layer especially when you get to the top. The most difficult part for us was the first section, which was the farmland. It is very steep and made us question if we could hike such terrain for another 6 hours. Our guide was very understanding and we took a ton of breaks on the way up and still made good time. You can also hire a porter for around $25 USD each way which takes a load off, quite literally. If you are interested, we also wrote a comprehensive guide on everything to know before the hike:

Is so beautiful and rich the United Kingdom of Guatemala established since 1609 and that extends from El Soconusco (today Chiapas) to part of Panama. Guatemala is 12th producer of silver in the world and 20th producer of gold besides having massive reserves of nickel, jade and so many other natural resources too bad for almost a century big foreign multinational corporations have been taking almost everything. The Malvinas belong to Argentina, The Esequibo belongs to Venezuela and Belice belongs to Guatemala. God bless

Hi Paul 👋Thank you for your comments, we love seeing them 👍The truth is, we started with $0 in the bank. We didn't win anything. The short story is, we became obsessed with our finances long before we had this crazy idea to start our own business and travel the world. First, we worked like maniacs at our jobs. We worked 12 hour days and were fortunately promoted several times over several years. To make the most of our money, we focused on the big three: housing, transportation, and food. We rented the least expensive apartment we could find that was far away from all of the cool things our friends paid a lot more to live close too. We bought old, used, cars in cash that were what we call "A to B" cars. And we meal prepped every Sunday to pack our lunches for the week. We learned this strategy from a book called "Set for Life" by Scott Trench. Great book 📚 And we did this for over two years before we finally made the jump to quit our jobs and pursue this dream. It has been a lot of hard work and we have a long way to go. Hope that gives some insight.
