    In Leener we trust said no one ever. Karl Lagerfeld carried Coco Chanel’s essence and Virginie continued that. Lena is going to choose someone trendy to take over and have someone like Taylor Swift be their muse. It’s not like Lena knows how to continue Chanel’s essence

    "Virginie Viard (born 1962) is a French fashion designer who was the creative director of Chanel from 2019 to 2024" I just checked Wikipédia and found this about Chanel and I am confused/shocked to see alredy the term "WAS" the creative director, from 2019 TO 2024 😲🤔what's going on? the page was apparently last edited this year in late May... so was this already known, but not for everybody? Yes, I agree fortunately we have Super Dacob!! :) great video, thanks so much Dacob.

    • @supermilkchan123
      @supermilkchan123 28 วันที่ผ่านมา +3

      I think Tom Ford is done with the industry.
      He was fed up after Gucci & YSL, and I would think if he sold off his own namesake brand, where he had more control, that's pretty much the end of the road for him. I can't imagine he would want all the stress, pressure, and scrutiny that comes with the role of Chanel creative director.
      I think he's probably over the film industry as well, so I'm not holding my breath for another Tom Ford film anytime soon.

    I really liked Virginie Viard…before Virginie, Chanel was stuffy, old-fashioned, boxy, boring and mainly the brand associated with grandmas on 5th avenue NY or mistresses of rich men. Virginie made Chanel fun, intellectual and flirty, experimenting with new shapes and ideas; I never really liked Chanel before Virginie Viard became creative director…so sad she is leaving…I wonder who will replace her?

There was one collection I liked (I haven’t seen them all)Fall/Winter 22/23.There were some really underwhelming pieces especially recently. It would be extremely hard for ANYONE to fill in for Karl tho. I think fashion & retail in general is just a struggle in general right now. Amazing video, as always, Dacob! 😍😍😍🥰🥰🥰❤️❤️❤️ I could never see Jacquemus at Chanel, neither Riccardo Tisci (il burino della situazione🤣). Christian Lacroix would be amazing, but I’d be curious to see what Pierpaolo Piccioli could do (I am biased here because I have a soft spot for Valentino😅). Otherwise, a young designer would be the fair choice. But above all, YOU should be the next Creative Director for Chanel. I could not imagine anyone more perfect for the role! 😍😍💖🩷🤩 You are knowledgeable and passionate about the brand and you would, like no other, respect Coco’s heritage! 😍😍🥰🥰🩷💖💖

    My favorite designer besides the late, great Karl, is Olivier of BALMAIN I think there are so many similarities in the designs and seeing Lagerfeld had history with BALMAIN, although short, he should be the one for the job if he were to leave BALMAIN> I imagine he's happy where he is though. Just a thought. I do hope that the next person will again develop a men's line. I heard it through the grapevine that Virginie missed the mark with men

    Great video. I really liked your theories. I was surprised at the news. I agree that there is A LOT going on behind the scenes. Because they are a privately held company, they can only tell the public what they CHOOSE to tell the public. Virginie gets dragged because her runway presentations can be underwhelming. But when you touch and see the clothing in person, a lot( not all) of it is quite beautiful. I feel the same way about Maria Grazia at Dior. This is odd because usually the shows with all of the styling/theatrics are exciting but the actual clothes in the store are underwhelming. I can see Pier Paolo going to Chanel because he understands Haute Couture and the 2% luxury clientele. Cassie Thorpe pointed out that 2% of luxury clients account for 40% of luxury sales. Chanel 's RTW clients are the 2%. Some luxury brands have a 3 piece look for $5-6k. Chanel's 3 piece looks are $15-20k AND UP. However, Chanel would have to hire someone else to be in charge of the bags, shoes, sunglasses, and other accessories( HUGE MONEY MAKERS) because Pier Paolo was unable to get a handle on that at Valentino. This is why l think it was interesting when they mentioned a new creative "team". Chanel has someone in place for beauty/fragrance( HUGE MONEY MAKERS) and Fine Jewelry(l believe). I don't see Galliano because designing 10 collections is a lot and having a large workload is what contributed his public meltdown. Hedi definitely has a point of view and is a BRILLIANT marketer. He knows how to do very commercial items with logos all over them. This is why he was so successful at Celine and YSL. The other designers at the brands were actually doing elegant but subtle designs which didn't really reach the masses. Hedi did skinny suits, Sgt. Pepper jackets, baby doll dresses, jeans, hoodies, t shirts, etc. Many say that he could bring a younger audience to Chanel. Most younger people don't have $15-20k to spend on a look. Some people say Tom Ford. He was very successful at Gucci but the Understitch channel did the Rise and Fall of Tom Ford. According to them, his RTW was not successful. So who knows? We shall see. 🤔.

    Virginie was great. All the outfits she created, we could wear easily in general (including those bibs you didn't like much lol). They all had that Chanel signature or vibe. She had a very big responsibility and work load to put in (name me one designer other than Karl that is able to deliver that work load every season?) . Chapeau pour Virginie. It was a great pleasure to be able to buy some of her pieces. It does not matter if she left or they let her go, in all cases, i don't see how she and the Lina's philosophy/class could get along.

    She had a really tough act to follow. Coming after one of the greatest designers in the world. But it was high time she moved on, for the sake of the brand. I feel her mistake was taking the brand into a singular view point of how SHE felt a women should dress. Her singular vision alienated a large part of the customer base. Collaborations would have been a key opportunity to bring a refresh to the brand. which she missed moving forward after Karl.

    I’m really sad to see Virginie go. She continued both Coco’a and Karl’a legacy well in my opinion. Chanel is a heritage brand. I hope this team of designers or whoever will become creative director will not be a crazy woke person. If Chanel goes woke, we’re done. I really hope they don’t get mixed up with politics. I can see it happening though. I fear that it will happen sooner or later and it will be a very sad demise if Chanel decides to go woke. For example, just look at what happened to Balenciaga. The brand has become a laughing stock.

    Jacquemus is not Chanel material. Marc is. I have a feeling its going to be a team with a man and a woman.

      i want tom ford to do another film. he already has a namesake brand but he sold it. he is free. there's no reason for him to be a slave again to some ceo's out there.

    Never thought you would sell out, D. But I guess everyone has their price. Karl was a genius and it was reflected in his work and longevity. Not so much with What's Her Face.
