S2000s are extremely reliable if property maintained. To your point when buying a S2000 do a refresh all key fluids (motor oil, transmission fluid, diff fluids, brake fluid and clutch). What happened with this car's master clylinder was directly caused by lack of maintenance. You can tell as the clutch fluid was completely black. Enjoy the car and glad you got this resolved. Like Billman said, it's a good practice to just change the clutch fluid with a turkey baster frequently. I do it every other oil change, or 5K miles. .
You got it 💪🏼 doing exactly that. Next on the list is trans then diff. Thanks for the reassurance, glad I don’t have to rush out to change the master cylinder just yet
Nice job with the video review! About to do the same actually! Just FYI your comment about the “Miata outperforming the S2K in every way” couldn’t be further from the truth! Total opposite. The 20 year old S2K outperforms the Miata in every way! Also if you are six foot tall like me you know very well that the Miata is VERY uncomfortable and cramped inside! S2K for the win! Enjoy your new ride!
My 2006 S2000 has been bulletproof for 10 years of ownership now. I do follow the maintenance checklist just as the first owner did. I expect I'll have to do the TCT eventually but no problems yet at 37k miles.
Billman is the S2K god, he has worked on my car in person, and he knows our cars in and out. Also, have fun with your s2k as well and I hope she gets more TLC from you moving forward. And I am happy you got most of the issues out so you will be having more fun driving in the future.
AP1 owner here with a buddyclub spec 2 straight pipe exhaust so it’s on the loud side but anyways,I 100% agree with you about the nostalgia this car makes me feel, makes me forget about allll my problems and issues I have, especially ringing out that f20c alll the way to 9k , this car is such a damn keeper im never selling mine idc im taking it to the grave with me!!!😊
this thing really is therapy I can’t get over it either haha. glad someone gets it! I’ll be taking mine to the grave as well as long as this thing isn’t a total lemon 💪🏼
Congratulations on your S! I feel like you’re another version of me in Vegas lol. Same age and working in medicine, a new born, and having appreciation for cars. Have my S2k for 2 years now as an occasional toy. Whenever I drive the S, I feel a sense of freedom. A break from all daily’s and life’s responsibilities, and just being a guy enjoying in a little fun car driving endless roads, living what I couldn’t do during high school. S2000 values are something more than meets the eye.
man, beautifully said. I know it’s extremely capable, but like you said for me it’s just the escape this car gives. glad you get it! hmu on IG if you wanna cruise one of these days. Part of this channel is for me to make car friends haha
You have great taste in cars and your video quality is great, man. That tow situation is why I always opt out of tow/rental coverage with my insurance.
Looks like your s2k was driven hard by the previous owner. Either way keep it, prices keep going up especially if its intact with all 10vins. Also, if you plan to lower, just add axle spacers and you won't have any issues with axle giving out quickly. Just subbed.
@@onsite_nate Np💯, I plan on getting one hopefully this summer I prefer Ap1 gpw with all red interior but the prices are a bit too much for an Ap1 in general. Might as well get a ap2 since they are fetching for the same price.
For sure... Original owner of an 06 AP2 with 233k miles and nothing but maintenance items in 18yrs. All depends on how it was taken care of. The pricey maintenance items. OEM shocks at 160k, original clutch replaced at 224k, and last month front and upper and lower control arms full assembly at 232k. Pricey, but if you break it down how long the original parts lasted, i couldn't think of using anything else but oem parts.
Change your clutch fluid every oil change, I guarentee you by the time you uploaded this video your fluid is black again. My 2000 ap1 had 40k miles on it and there was clay-like material in my slave cylinder so i replaced that with my master and changed the fluid. If your master is leaking and you replaced it, change the slave cylinder too, its not expensive and it is worth it. The best first mod is maintenance!
definitely seems too good to be true! I’ll see how long this method takes me before it starts giving out again. Maintenance mods are the best, love when the car is another step closer to showroom spec
An amazing vehicle regardless. Used vehicles will always have inherent issues so once repaired by Honda - should be ok for another 3-4 years trouble-free motoring.
It looks like those are seat covers. I have them on my s2000. They are made by clazzio. I would take them off and put some cushioning under them and put them back on. Pretty cheap way to put some life back into the car without spending money to reupholster them.
Never had that kind of attention with the S2000, but most people in Austria are into Euro cars. I also got a yellow 1991 NSX, that car gets too much attention.
I would be worried about the timing chain tensioner . That car is 100% worth having more than any current car for sale specially the ones with CVT gearboxes.
love the protectant so far, not too shiny and looks good as new. no obvious wear either. some angles of the newer miata I really like, but overall the S2000 is just timeless
This video made me get mine out today!
Thanks for that. 🏁🇯🇵
glad I could help! that’s me with every review video I watch on these

Fellow s2k enthusiast here. Very well said about the car! Keep up the videos
thank you 🙏🏼
Just got my first this week.
It's the perma-smile that gets me!
nice man congrats! I’m almost a year in and that feeling hasn’t changed 💪🏼
It's such a unique car, I'm so happy to see people enjoying what is my dream car!

Thanks man, I really hope so too 🙏🏼 And yeah billman has already saved me tons of money on this limp clutch issue. Guy is a legend
Love this guys content
thank you much!

Billman is a great dude. I've brought my S2000 to him quite a few times.
Honestly if it weren’t for all of his involvement/help in the community, I’d probably consider selling this in the next year
That’s a nice pick up. I really miss my s2k
CTR and S2000 would be an amazing setup 💪🏼

@@onsite_nate what’s your IG?
You have great taste in cars and your video quality is great, man. That tow situation is why I always opt out of tow/rental coverage with my insurance.
appreciate this thank you 🙏🏼 and yes, only 15mi covered is a joke. def can’t take this out of state just yet

agreed 🙏🏼 hopefully no more surprises with this thing. Thank you for the sub!

I'd pay about tree fitty
Great review, would love to own one someday! Cool to see i know what roads you're on. Btw, is that a samurai service sticker on the windshield? lol
thank you sir, and yes you have a good eye! Yoshi at samurai is a legend and knows his stuff
Haha yeah I go there when I feel lazy doing my oil change
Nice vid im taking notes
An amazing vehicle regardless.
Used vehicles will always have inherent issues so once repaired by Honda - should be ok for another 3-4 years trouble-free motoring.
Definitely. Have to lower my expectations and at the very least replace all the wear items for a 100k/almost 20yo car. Love it nonetheless 🙏🏼

think you might be correct! they definitely hide the cracks well for sure. and that’s a great idea, could help save my back. thank you 🙏🏼
Have you seen the new owners thread on S2ki?
Forgot about this gem. Thank you for reminding me 🙏🏼
GREAT VIDEO!!! I sub'd 😎😎😎😎
thanks man!
Good stuff bro
I would pay 25k Euros max in Austria. Also never selling mine. Love that car!
heck yeah man. love seeing another lifelong owner of these 💪🏼
My husband drives that car 😜
Never had that kind of attention with the S2000, but most people in Austria are into Euro cars. I also got a yellow 1991 NSX, that car gets too much attention.
yeah I’m pretty surprised as well out here, rather this than badge or clout seekers haha

next on the list 💪🏼 agreed. I’m wondering if this is just the sign of our generation aging or if new cars just don’t hit like they used to
I just bought a black s2k with 200k miles bro, I'm really glad I can't wait to drive it.
congrats man! make sure to check that clutch fluid reservoir😂
@onsite_nate facts bro 💯
Congrats I would suggest you change every single fluid in the car unless you didn't do it already
@newtonwilliams3778 thank you, I'm gonna do clutch fluid with the turkey baster method lol
303 UV protectant is 'da bomb'........ works GREAT! Re the Miata......... it's a good 'sports' car but to me it looks like 🤮🤮
love the protectant so far, not too shiny and looks good as new. no obvious wear either. some angles of the newer miata I really like, but overall the S2000 is just timeless
how about doing the maintenance before taking a "new used" car out for a long drive? 🙄 can't fix stupid people
glad you enjoyed the video 🤠 i appreciate the support
