      Also think Banjo bolts got upgraded from MY2002 onwards. My engine was lost due to a dropped value. When the replacement engine was sourced we swapped valve retainers for ap2 versions and checked banjo bolts. They were already the newer better type with more spray holes, and the replacedment engine was a 2002. This man has good advice, I learnt it the hard way

    I put on a J's rep Seibon hood before seeing this video, but after seeing this video I removed my intake box cover, got a test pipe and the vtec transition is something to waste gas on. I also feel a smile factor going on and idk if it's cause of the transmission or the HP gains.. My next curious thing to mess around with will be to buy a Ballade sports 70mm throttle body and have my 05 plenum bored out to 70mm. Will that be worth the $180??? thanks evans tune for cheap solutions, for gains!

    One thing I think you forgot to mention that could be important to road course guys, or any racing enthusiast really, is that while you may only see minimal gains across the board with an aftermarket header/exhaust system power wise you will also see a significant reduction in weight compared to stock components and that is certainly no waste. Yes the quality parts, especially for the S2K are pricey, (gotta pay to play!) there are some gains to be had. We typically see the J's racing design and its quality replicas produce a solid 5-6whp gain across the board from ~4500-redline. We also have seen gains of 10-12whp with the Hytech header + exhaust system when used together compared to stock as well as a significant difference in weight. While the overall power gains may not be as impressive as with other engine platforms, weight savings is always a good thing as decreasing weight is the single most effective way to increase performance in every aspect. Braking, handling, acceleration, fuel mileage, etc. are all increased when weight is decreased, so that can be a factor for some in their choice of aftermarket parts as well. The F series engine is indeed very well engineered from the factory though, and we have made over 250whp on stock short blocks, stock cams, and bolt-ons. Aftermarket valve springs are a good option as well because the stock cam/intake manifold/head can all flow higher than stock redline, so with tuning and some light head work 260-270whp is easily attainable with stock cam profile, stock compression, stock bore/stroke etc. At this point, the stock header still flows enough air overall to not be a restriction, however the runner and collector design can stand to be modified to speed up that flows velocity and promote better scavenging therefore increasing power potential somewhat.

    • @philspaghet
      @philspaghet 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah, best bang for buck is just to keep the stock air box and cut out the divider and remove the snorkel, way more volume and you're still shielded from the engine bay

    Considering supercharging my car in the future. Would it make sense to run the smallest possible pulley, even if I might switch between 93 and 100 octane periodically? Ex: Don't want to use 100 octane on long trips, yet don't want to swap pulleys every time I wish to do so. Can you pull enough timing, while still using the small pulley, and safely run 93 octane? Or is pulley swapping an inevitable fate with superchargers?

      +johnzal79 Thanks for sharing the video! We're happy to hear it's been a great source of information for many people. We have already filmed a video regarding fuel systems which will be out shortly. In the meantime, to answer your question, we'd recommend using ID 1300cc injectors, Walbro 400 LPH E85 specific fuel pump, and the SOS fuel pump re-wire kit. This combination of fuel system components will support about 550-600whp safely on E85.

    • @EvansTuning
      @EvansTuning  8 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      +Le Enderman Glad you found the video to be informative. For under 800-900whp, the stock S2000 cams are more than sufficient. The intake manifold is sufficient up to the same power level. Honda did a really great job on the cam profile that works well on a forced induction set up on an S2000.

    • @joedoole3527
      @joedoole3527 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      AEM is hands down the best option for a modified S2K in my opinion. I'm sure Jeff will chime in eventually, but K pro isn't really a great option for these cars because by the time you purchased the Kpro, an early RSX ecu, the required sensors, valve cover etc you are already in the realm of what AEM would cost anyway, but without as many features. There are quite a few good Hondata tuners out there, but less of them can reliably tune the S2000 on the Kpro, as it isn't as straight forward of a conversion as many would like/hope. Haltech has some good options as well, but from a reliability, user friendliness, and overall performance standpoint, AEM ems gets the nod for the S2000 every time in our shop.

At these power levels, traction control and knock control are pretty important and Haltech does not offer traction control. In addition, Haltech's knock control is not as fast or refined as the Infinity. Having said that, Haltech is more than fine for about 90% of the set ups that come through our shop and is a rock solid system.

      Personally I don't think the F22 swap into an AP1 is worthwhile. If you are looking to replace a tired or dead F20 then this is maybe something to consider, but to swap a healthy F20 for a F22 is a waste of money. The power difference between the two is minimal in stock form, and you would make much better use of your money just fortifying the F20C with aftermarket internals rather than an OEM F22 2.2 swap.

      Joe Doole i am not taking about swaps many guys they putting stroker kit upgrades to the F20C engine to make it 2200cc displacement. and some of those guys they saying that you can rev the ap1 with the 2.2 liter up to 9 rpm.. which in the ap2 you can not rev it more that 8. and by doing that they make a good amount of power. but i dont know how reliably is it

    • @EvansTuning
      @EvansTuning  8 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      There would be no point to modify the car if you don't plan to have it tuned. You won't be able to take advantage of the power you can make doing those modifications. AEM and Haltech would be your 'cheapest' option for tuning (assuming it's not an 06+, in which case the Hondata FlashPro would be the way to go); however, you should always keep in mind that the cost of engine management and a tune is far less than the cost of an engine rebuild.

      Thanks! Opinion putting nitrous on a s2000?

    • @EvansTuning
      @EvansTuning  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Balo657 We don't recommend nitrous. Typically, people will use it as a 'cheap' means for extra power. When you factor in the cost of the kit plus having to regularly fill the bottle (let's say 15+ refills) you'll start getting close to the cost of a supercharger kit. This would be a far more reliable option and would net you more power.

    • @AlyxTF

    • @AlyxTF
      @AlyxTF 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +DerpyOrange there's a ton of ways to do it NA, but nothing will end up being as cost effective as a turbo or supercharger

    • @isabellab617
      @isabellab617 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +BlameThe WhiteGuy +DerpyOrange I was thinking: intake (ITB's +13hp), exhaust(+15hp), ported head(not sure if it's called this way in english; +10hp), racing camshaft(+/-35hp), comp. ratio 16:1 (yes, there are guys running ratios as high as this on S2000's; +30hp), lightweight valves and springs(+10hp), etc. There's already a 113hp gain, which means the F20C now has 353hp. 🤔 Correct me if I'm wrong with the gains of each mod.

    • @AlyxTF
      @AlyxTF 8 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      +Eduardo B. Lpz those are all "hypothetical" gains. You will literally never see 15hp from an exhaust and most likely you'll get like 40-50 hp from all that

    • @danielyoyoechavez8847

    • @superstreetking95

      I would definitely upgrade to supertechs, Brain Crowler, ferrea racing, or Skunk 2 valves. F20c valves are not very strong especially for early model S2000s have been known to crack.

    false the best bang for buck mod is 4.77 gears

    • @joedoole3527
      @joedoole3527 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Maybe for pulling a couple tenths off a 1/4 mile time, but everything else (fuel economy, top end speed etc.) will suffer. Also, gears on an otherwise stock S2K rear isn't really smart, because there are much more important areas to focus on with this fairly weak drivetrain. We have broken stock parts with stock gears at 260ish whp launching hard on sticky tires, what do you think 4.77s would improve upon this?

    • @alimehrozi2828
      @alimehrozi2828 7 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Joe Doole anyone whos buying 4.77 gears is most likely going to a track with turns or autocross.. you know... what an s2k is actually for... if people wanna build a drag car starting with an s2000 is a mistake from the beginning..

    • @superstreetking95
      @superstreetking95 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      however depending on either you have a AP1 or AP2, 4.77 gears is the best bang for a AP1. but if you do a AP2 transmission conversion I would use 4.44 gears with reinforced CT housing to make it gernade proof. especially if you plan on supercharging or turboing.

    When your Tuning a car.. it doesnt mean your tuning just the engine.. if you think tuning the engine is ok and not the weight lf the car/ chassi/ brakes/ suspension .. you will be out of ballance.. hes just talking about the motor.. and skipping everything else.. hes ok but hes missing 75% of tuning by just focusing on the engine..

    It's simple. Fuck test pipes. 3 inch exhaust (ressonators and mufflers at will), a good CAI with a large diameter 2.5 to 3.5, aem infinity and voilá 240 whp to 250 whp.
    Get headers, intake manifold and some mild cams and 280-300whp will appear, reliable and strong.
