You can keep the throttle open easily with the designated friction screw below the throttle grip! Much better than risking to scratch surface of the throttle body inside!
You’re doing great - my son is a growing celebrity ! The mechanical aspects of this is not my thing, but I am proud of your enterprising spirit ! Keep up the great work !
Are there any gaskets on the backside of backing plate , where it is attached to the throttle body and on the backside of the backing plate where the breather bolts go into the front and rear cylinder?
Brake cleaner and throttle body cleaner are different like you said. The biggest difference is throttle body cleaner is made to cut carbon build up found in throttle bodies. Brake cleaner is not as effective but great on brakes. A little tip for helping remove some of the ugly on a throttle body is an old tooth brush. DO NOT USE a metal brush, brass included. The bristles may come off and those pieces are not good inside the motor. Electronics do not like them either. The plastic bristles wont harm if they come off. You spoke about the adjustment but you never talked about lube on the cables. Cable lube works best it creeps down the cable for a full lube. There is a inexpensive tool that helps. A tip on cables is with the bars at full turn both ways the throttle should move freely. It should always snap back to idle no matter where the bars are. Sorry for all the info. Its where I go when I see things I can help on. Second observation, your cameras nice and clear. The sound is great when you face the camera. Your voice is a little muffled when your talking looking at the bike. You might want to look into a lavaliere mic that goes on your shirt. They make some that are very sensitive and I do not think that would be good. The tool and metal sounds pick up much better than voice. You need one less sensitive. I can maybe help you out with some of that. If your reaching on the other side of the bike with your head leaned over talking you may not get what you were saying. Many of the vlog cameras are made to be looked at while talking. Did love the video and great job.
Good stuff and yes I am looking at a on body mic I just need to wait till I get some funds, maybe some paid customers, lol. Excited to see it grow and sharpen shills along the way. Headed out of town this weekend but I will reach out to you when I get back. Awesome constructive criticism I thank you for it!!!
haha bloody harleys my girlfriend is all freaked out because its stalling at low idle on my 08 1200 my 71 1000 just did it continully just to piss me off. thanks for this video i didnt think about the air cleaner as i just had it serviced a couple of months ago i thought t could be a fuel line. we have the same bracelet haha good taist
That honestly I don’t know. The throttle body cleaner is chemically formulated to do its job. Not sure how wd40 would work and not sure how the composition differs honestly
One other thing I just thought of using a product like WD-40 if it leaves a oily film may attract dirt and grime in deposits versus a throttlebody cleaner which does not leave a film on the surface
Nice vid. Can't help but think that if the crankcase gases were being vented externally, there would be very little build up of anything in the throttle body. Your thoughts? 🤔 🙂
Hey my man, just saw this comment. Need to think about that one but you may have a point there. I am more a electrical guy then a motor guy. I am just really digging into motors more now and learning a ton of info fast so that’s something I would need to dig on but interesting thought thanks!!
@@YogisCycleService I start my bike . Letting run for about 3 minutes . Then I twisted the throttle couple times , then they make a big explosion on the air filter .
@@SuperFrizas First check valve clearance and spark timing (doubt its that), its either the spark that fires when it shouldn`t or the valve is open when it shouldn`t be or not closing well when it should. So you get backfire. Burst guess without seeing it or hearing it.
I took my air cleaner off to look inside and there was a small oil puddle in the throttle body. My throttle also doesn’t spring back. I had smoke coming out of the air cleaner after I shut down the bike, a lot of smoke actually.
danny reggin I am sure I did. Hey I am new to this lol give the old man a break. Still getting over camera nervousness and stumbling over my words. I find after I watch a time or two they are 100 things I should have said better or different. Hopefully that smooths out over time
Are there any codes related to this ? My sporster 883 gave me a code p0122 and a p0107 Im a beginner rider and clueless to where to start. Any help would be appreciated. Good Work Man
Hey my man good question and sorry for the delay I got distracted. I hope you got it figured out by now but no this was not throwing codes. Sounds like you may have a sensor issue possible by I can’t recall without looking those codes up. If you need more info hit me up on email or messenger. Those addresses are in the text boys of the video or at the end and I will be happy to help where I can.
No way I would ever stick anything metal to hold the plate open. Wood won't ding anything. The lower edge of the plate is important to tune a carb at idle.
If you are doing the job show the whole thing not just half of it the throttle assembly on the handlebarrs or are you scared you will loose the pin - Cut corners mechanic
Horrible way to keep that open you risk bending it. All you have to do it tighten the cruise control knob on the throttle housing and it’ll keep it open
you should have started the bike and shown the difference .....how to diy videos should always show a before and after....that is the reason for instruction....
Great explaining how that throttle body works. Others dont show whats sticking and how it coordinates to the throttle. Great job! God bless too! 😎
Thank you!
Ty! I am glad I found you! You saved me. Your videos are so clear and informative.
Awesome man thank you very much. I appreciate that greatly and thank you for your comment.

so how do you oil and adjust throttle and return cable

Hay man thanks for the video. Much love
Hey, nice video! Can we expect same results for electronic throttle?
I would imagine so yes because it’s the same set up more or less
Does an EFI bike have an IAC?
My street glide every time I hit the throttle couple time , it’s make a big explosion 💥. What could be ? Thanks
Not exactly sure what you’re asking

Do the breather bolts and hoses need to be cleaned?
juan z I don’t think that would effect the operation but with the miles on it and everything I am sure it wouldn’t hurt.
Breather tubes are cheap. Just replace them every so often.

Too much oil in the engine most likely.
@@wingandhogno. It's ur crankcase breather blows right into ur throttle body
hi, can i use the wd-40?
I would think that would not fully clean it. WD40 does make a specific throttle body cleaner however

Can you run the engine while spaying to help clean the valves and combustion parts
That I am not sure on and dont really want to recommend that. Someone more knowledgeable then me really needs to answer that one
Like the video
Is this an EFI bike? Did i miss that?
Thanks very helpful
Thank you

Ha ha I saw that in editing and went back outside and fixed it. Good catch
