“MysteriousMaverick” was pretty easy to identify; Even when I first played this game as a kid, I was dumbfounded as to how little effort was put into “disguising” (and I use that term lightly) Vile. The same problem was present in MMX5 opening cutscene and the “Mysterious Voice” conversing with Dynamo, which from the slightly darkened picture anyone could tell it was Sigma.
I think the capcom staff tested the game with -10 brightness plus being in a very well illuminated room
Anyone who has played at least two MMX games knew that it was sigma 😋
It's pretty much like if they ever had a "mysterious doctor" character in Megaman Classic.
Luminous Lead U mean that “Mr. X” guy from classic Mega Man? I forgot what game he was in but it’s no huge secret that “Mr. X” was Dr. Wily.
@@Mechasonicrocks Yeah, Mr.X was the one that I was thinking of. The thinnest veneer of obfuscation is given to the Megaman games. It's always about Dr.Wily. A little less so in the X series (it's about Sigma but also there's a fair bit of politicking), and Zero series has a great arc of villains.

It's good, not compared to various X1 soundtracks, but it's good, and better than the PS1 version
The samples used on the SNES X3 OST are ear grating sometimes. The 32-bit ports aren't painful, but have no punch to them.

X4 didn't begin the Zero virus that was always predestined to happen it was showing how Sigma became a Maverick. Zero was actually the first maverick created by Wily he's the reason the X series even exist. After breaking the emerald Zeros's head with the W emblem which contained the virus Sigma became infected.
I miss this style of animation for the mega man series. It always felt so refreshing after coming from the NES version. X4 and onwards just don't feel the same...

PS1 nor SNES version never had the special effects. PS1 introduced those stage select boss animations as long as I can remember. So this has to be a modified ROM or ISO file he/she/they played through.

don't quote me - because I have only played the SNES version - I believe this game was also ported for Play Station and this is the Play Station version. again, I have zero evidence to back that up, but it's my best guess
The game was also ported to PC, of which has been listed as abandonware. Pretty much needed a Windows 9x machine to run it natively.

There's a romhack for the SNES version that makes Zero fully playable without the dumb limitations (can't fight bosses, can't collect power-ups, die once once as him and he's gone for good, etc.)

I think the bad ending is "Doppler's Sacrifice".
You get this ending if you lose Zero ;) (it happens if you either lose Zero in a Stage, or you used him to get the Z-Saber)

this is 100% not the original SNES version. SNES didn't have full-screen full-motion videos (PC, PSX and Saturn versions had).
Also the sparkles and shots are significantly improved graphically..

X had some good bosses, X2 had the hardest bosses of the X series but X3 has the weakest bosses.
well X3 bosses are so broken. some of the AI just does such stupid things and you can easily abuse the ice one.

Hey Hunter, can you do a Zero Project run of this? It's out to everyone who can patch it into an MMX3 rom, i've gotten into it a few years ago and it was very nice. ^^ Apparently it's been updated over the years as well. I've looked for a Zero Project run from you in your created playlists, but I don't see anything of the sort unfortunately. :(
If you can do so later then i'd be very much appreciative. :)
Be warned that you MUST switch out for X before entering Mosquitus' boss room, otherwise it'll follow the "Zero becomes unavailable for the rest of the story" script after Zero defeats Mosquitus himself, but you must know this much by now, just making sure to warn you about it beforehand regardless.
